Chapter 173 The Result of Zheng Tian's Death Sentence Review

The news about the Su Family selling their property had already spread throughout their social circle, but everyone was well aware that no one would buy the house now.

Prompted by her mother's words, Su Qiaoer felt that taking out a loan from the Bank using the house seemed like a good option. However, how much money could she actually borrow?

To be more precise, could she even get a loan on this house at all? When applying for a mortgage, the Bank would evaluate the asset, and the loan amount would be based on 70% to 80% of that valuation. If the asset was considered garbage, the Bank wouldn't approve it.

That morning, Su Qiaoer visited a Bank. She had previously enjoyed a decent relationship with one of its senior executives and they had worked together in the past, but ever since she left the Su Group, all communication between them had ceased.

"Miss Su, I apologize for keeping you waiting."

"Our General Manager Ma is currently discussing business, so he is unable to meet with you. However, it's no matter; Chairman Ma has entrusted me to discuss the loan with you. May I ask what asset you are planning to mortgage?"

Hearing this, Su Qiaoer realized the other party likely had no intention of meeting her. According to the information she had received, he shouldn't have had any work commitments today—otherwise, she wouldn't have come. But there was no point in exposing the lie; since he had said so, pointing it out would only create awkwardness for both of them. So, she simply played along.

"I am planning to mortgage the Villa under my name. Its current market value should be around 500 million."

The staff member frowned upon hearing this. If she were looking to mortgage other assets, they would be more than willing to provide a loan. However, regarding the Villa, the staff member hesitated. General Manager Ma didn't seem interested in the property; even if the Bank took it over, they wouldn't be able to sell it. In such a scenario, even a loan of 100,000 would essentially be a dead loss for the Bank.

"The thing is, our Bank currently has very strict requirements for residential property mortgages. We've had to turn down many similar requests recently. We believe you should consider selling the property on the market, as your house is quite desirable. While we would naturally be willing to process a mortgage loan, it might not be the most worthwhile option for you."

The other party's words sounded pleasant, as if they were considering Su Qiaoer's best interests, but no one was a fool. Su Qiaoer understood perfectly well that this was just a polite refusal.

"So, there's absolutely no possibility of us securing a mortgage loan with you, is that right?"

"Honestly, there isn't a good way to do it. Our Bank has to take various factors into consideration. Furthermore, the most we could offer you for this house would be a few million or perhaps ten million, which certainly wouldn't be worth it for you. You would be better off selling it on the market; after all, both the location and the environment of this Villa are impeccable. If there's nothing else, we'll bid you farewell."

Upon hearing this, Su Qiaoer took a deep breath, nodded, and left. Watching her retreating figure, the staff member sighed.

He then went to the Chairman's office. The Chairman, who was supposedly in a meeting, was sitting in his chair sipping tea. The tea looked good; he took a sip with a satisfied expression. When he saw the staff member enter, he gestured for him to sit down.

"She's gone?"

"Yes. However, Miss Su didn't look very happy when she left. We suspect she might be feeling a bit upset."

"Even if she is upset, there's nothing to be done. In the current situation, no one is willing to take that Villa. If someone were willing to take it, she wouldn't have come to us, would she?"

"Boss, do you think the Zheng Group will launch another series of attacks against the Su Family?"

"Who can say for sure? In the current situation, the best thing to do is to avoid getting involved with the Su Family. It wouldn't be worth it if we were implicated."

The Su Family was now being shunned by everyone in their social circle. No one wanted to have any association with them, so everyone was actively cutting ties. Consequently, if the Su Family wanted to sell their Villa, almost no one would be willing to take it on.

While there were people willing to buy their shops, the Su Family would likely be unwilling to sell, as those properties provided a stable source of cash income.

"What a fool. Even if she chose to divorce, if she had continued those collaborations with the Zheng Group, she probably wouldn't have ended up in this state. But she insisted on canceling the partnerships, causing her company's stock price to plummet. And then, failing to recognize reality, she insisted on pouring money into saving the company. If only one of her decisions had been right, she wouldn't have ended up in this predicament."

"The Su Family is beyond saving now, and no one is willing to step in to help. It's highly likely they will be eliminated from the circle. In the future, they might remain reasonably wealthy, but they won't have any resources or connections left."

In this world, the vast majority of people are ordinary. In a small city, someone might earn a salary of five or six thousand yuan while paying off a twenty or thirty-year mortgage. The Su Family, regardless of their current state, initially had a few million, and with the luxury items Su Qiaoer just sold, they probably had around 20 million in total.

They also owned a dozen decent shops, which generated nearly seven or eight million in rent annually. Combined with the dividends from the Su Group, they likely brought in nearly 10 million a year. With that, they could certainly live quite well, but that was all they could hope for.

There would be no further development, and they would ultimately be eliminated from the circle.

Moreover, the Su Family now had to face such a massive blow; after all, this was a drop in social class.

Meanwhile, Su Qiaoer sat on a chair outside, her expression grim. She knew clearly now that the Villa was stuck in her hands. It would become a money pit, draining millions from them every year. Millions! After paying those costs, how much money would they even have left for the year?

Most importantly, if they chose to refuse to pay, the relevant companies could sue them directly. With the black-and-white contracts in place, they had no chance of winning a lawsuit, so they would have to pay up obediently.

"What a headache. Is there really no other option?"

Su Qiaoer took a deep breath, her tone filled with helplessness. If there had been any other option, she wouldn't have been on the verge of a breakdown.

"Qiaoer, how did it go?"

Seeing Su Qiaoer return, her mother asked quickly.

"I went to the Bank today. They said that current policies have tightened and they aren't keen on accepting real estate as collateral. In other words, they rejected our proposal. All that talk about not wanting to do real estate mortgages is just an excuse—they simply don't want to help us."

"What do we do now? Are we just stuck with this Villa?"

"It looks like that's all we can do for now..."

Su Qiaoer sat in her chair, her voice devoid of emotion. Hearing this, her mother sighed and fell silent.

Time ticked by. Around 10:00 AM, Zheng Jie had just finished an important meeting. As he stepped out of his office, his secretary immediately approached him.

"Boss, I just received news from the capital. The death penalty review for Zheng Tian has concluded."

Upon hearing this, Zheng Jie instinctively looked up at his secretary.

Noting the staff members still leaving the area, he gestured for the secretary to follow him into his office.

As a trusted aide, the secretary understood Zheng Jie's intention and quickly followed him into the Chairman's office.

Normally, a death penalty review wouldn't conclude so quickly, but Zheng Jie had pulled some strings, so the process had been expedited. This was certainly a relief for the staff at the Hospital responsible for guarding Zheng Tian.

After all, being stationed at the Hospital every day put a great deal of mental pressure on them, as they were terrified that something might happen to Zheng Tian.

Soon, the two arrived in the Chairman's office.

"Go ahead."

Zheng Jie coughed and said.
