94: Whatever you see, don't be impulsive

Chapter 94: Don't Act Impulsively, No Matter What You See

The endless mountain range was dotted with over a dozen peaks that soared into the clouds.

Between these peaks lay countless massive cities.

The area of this city was comparable to the entire territory of the Gama Empire. People came and went, and it was common to see individuals flying above the city, most of them walking on air.

“Is this Soul Cang’s home?” Yun Yun stared at everything before her, her face blank.

“Let’s go.” Soul Cang walked a distance, noticed Yun Yun hadn't followed, and called out to her.

Yun Yun flapped her Dou Qi wings, caught up to him, and together they descended towards the city gate.

At this moment, Protector Wu suddenly said, “Young Master Cang, no matter what you see later, don’t act impulsively.”

“Hmm?” Soul Cang stopped, staring at Protector Wu. “What happened in the clan while I was away?”

“Just a small matter,” Protector Wu said evasively, not answering directly.

“Could it be Mother…?” Soul Cang’s heart sank. He walked silently through the city gate and headed straight towards his home.

“Oh, isn’t that Soul Cang?”

“Why is he back? Didn’t he go to take over a branch of the Soul Hall’s affairs?”

“It’s been almost three years. He must be back to report his achievements. Alas, his family’s situation…”

“Hehe, now there’s a show to watch.”

“Dream on. With Soul Cang’s strength, what kind of waves can he stir up? He’ll just end up like his old mother.”

“When your status is awkward, you should just live your life honestly. Why cause so much trouble?”

As soon as he appeared, people gradually recognized Soul Cang and then gathered to discuss him.

Some busybodies, having nothing else to do, even followed him.

To get home, one needed to pass through a small alley.

The two sides of the alley should have been inhabited, but now they were eerily silent. That alone would be fine, but a strong foul odor wafted from within.

Soul Cang stepped into the void, his figure rising. His gaze quickly swept over the courtyard walls, revealing the empty lots and houses on both sides piled high with garbage and debris.

And this nauseating smell emanated from those things.

There was no wind around, and the stench lingered stubbornly.

“A restriction…” A cold light flickered in Soul Cang’s eyes, and his expression became even calmer.

This calmness was more terrifying than anger, like the tranquility before a storm.

“Young Master Cang.” Protector Wu, worried about Soul Cang’s mood, quickly stepped forward, preparing to say a few words.

But Soul Cang pushed him away with a hand. He walked to the door and gently knocked.

“Coming.” After a few seconds of silence, a somewhat hoarse voice sounded from inside. Hearing it, an image of a weary old man couldn’t help but surface in one’s mind.

The door opened, revealing a woman’s figure.

“Mother…” Soul Cang’s pupils trembled slightly, his breathing almost stopping. He gently embraced the woman.

In just three years, the once charming and gentle woman was now full of silver hair, her face covered in wrinkles, and her clothes patched.

Originally, Soul Lin Hua’s figure was slightly plump, appearing somewhat robust and endearing.

But at this moment, Soul Cang, holding the person in his arms, felt almost no weight.

“Cang’er, you’re back!” Soul Lin Hua rested her chin on Soul Cang’s shoulder. After a long moment of stunned silence, she finally reacted, tightly embracing her son’s back, her eyes misting up.

Soul Lin Hua patted Soul Cang’s back: “Let Mother see if you’ve gotten thinner these past few years. You’ve been gone for so many years, like a wild child…”

A stream of chattering words continuously poured from her mouth.

Soul Cang held his mother’s dry, emaciated hand and asked with a pained heart, “Mother, what’s going on? Why has our home become like this? And why didn’t you tell me anything?”

“Come in, come in first.” Soul Lin Hua forced a smile and urged Soul Cang inside. At this moment, her gaze fell upon Yun Yun, who was following behind Soul Cang. She paused slightly, then showed a hint of surprise. “Child, are you here with Cang’er?”

Yun Yun nodded.

“Oh, good, good. Come in and sit,” Soul Lin Hua’s smile immediately deepened.

The room was still the same as before, spotlessly clean.

If not for the lingering stench in the air, everything would probably feel much warmer.

Soul Cang tried several times to find an opportunity to ask his mother about the situation, but Soul Lin Hua deflected him with various excuses.

“It seems I can’t get any answers from Mother…” Soul Cang’s gaze turned to Protector Wu, who had come with them.

He said to Soul Lin Hua, “Mother, I haven’t eaten your cooking in a long time.”

“Alright, you wait. Mother will go buy groceries and cook for you now.” Soul Lin Hua glared at Soul Cang, seemingly displeased that he had interrupted her conversation with Yun Yun.

However, Soul Lin Hua moved quickly. She went into the bedroom and came out with a basket, ready to leave.

“I’ll go with you,” Yun Yun stood up and followed Soul Lin Hua. She could tell that Soul Cang had something to discuss with Protector Wu.

After the two left, Soul Cang sat down, tapping his fingers on the table, and said in a deep voice, “Protector Wu, tell me, what exactly is going on?”

Protector Wu carefully chose his words as he explained the whole story.

Originally, as Soul Emperor’s illegitimate son, Soul Cang’s talent only allowed him to cultivate to the Dou Wang realm, posing no threat to many people.

All along, those competitors had never taken Soul Cang seriously.

Until three years ago, Soul Cang suddenly stepped forward and asked for an opportunity.

Afterward, Soul Cang indeed succeeded, using his identity as an Alchemist to make Soul Emperor look at him properly for once, and he was truly given the right to manage the Gama Empire’s Soul Hall branch.

It was precisely this action that made those people feel displeased.

These people were either direct descendants of elders or important cultivation targets of Soul Emperor.

Now, suddenly, a child born of a maid had joined. What was this?

Thus, the retaliation began.

These people didn't act openly and blatantly, perhaps also out of consideration for the fleeting affair Soul Cang’s mother once had with Soul Emperor.

Therefore, they simply cleared out all the nearby houses and gradually piled various garbage and debris there, using restrictions to create a lingering foul odor.

Besides this, the resources originally supplied to Soul Lin Hua were also stopped.

These were all minor matters, not enough to reach Soul Emperor.

In fact, he might even know but wouldn't care.

“Soul Fury started it?” Repeating the name Protector Wu had spoken, Soul Cang’s eyes were filled with chilling coldness.

Protector Wu quickly said, “Young Master Cang, you mustn’t act impulsively. Soul Fury has done many things these past three years and has won the favor of the clan leader. His strength is even a six-star Dou Zun. A moment of patience brings calm. You don’t need to oppose him now.”

“Patience? I say screw that. Why should I endure? Why should I put up with it?” Soul Cang scoffed. “Dare to ride over my head? Soul Fury isn’t worthy!”

Protector Wu tried to speak again, but saw several Fire Spirits emerge from Soul Cang’s body.

“Burn all those places where they’ve piled garbage!” Soul Cang commanded coldly.

The Fire Spirits sensed Soul Cang’s emotions, and their flames flared high.

Before long, thick smoke billowed from the houses on both sides of the alley, flames shot out, and the terrifying high temperature made people within a hundred miles turn their gaze towards it.

Soul Lin Hua, who was buying ingredients, was informed that her home was on fire, and the basket in her hand dropped to the ground.

“It’s on fire! Those houses have been set ablaze!” A figure excitedly rushed into a certain house and said to the person inside.

“As expected of someone who dared to challenge the clan leader in such a setting.” In the dimly lit room, a figure sat cross-legged, half his face hidden in shadow. “Now go find the clan elders and demand an explanation from them!”

“Yes!” The person ran out again.
