11: Chapter 11 Unexpected Disaster
Two hours later, the shuttle bus drove into Fengling City.
Compared to Yuntai Town, this place was an entirely different world.
Thirty-meter-high alloy walls, squads of Beast Tamers patrolling the ramparts, and inside the city, neat streets, towering skyscrapers, and an endless stream of vehicles...
Following the address on his admission letter, Qin Ce found the Fengling City First Battle Academy.
The First Battle Academy in Fengling City was located in the eastern part of the city's core district and covered a vast area.
Its towering dark gold alloy gate was magnificent, carved with reliefs of giant beasts fighting side-by-side with Beast Tamers, appearing solemn and majestic.
The buildings on campus were mostly constructed from sturdy gray-black stone and special alloys, giving them a rugged style.
Training grounds, simulated battle arenas, and enclosures housing various beasts for teaching purposes could be seen everywhere.
The air was permeated with faint energy fluctuations and the indistinct roars and cries of beasts.
Many new students had already gathered on campus by this time.
Qin Ce noticed that most of these new students were dressed in flashy clothes and accompanied by their parents or servants; only a few were like him—alone and dressed simply.
Qin Ce carried his luggage and followed the stream of new students to complete the admission procedures, receiving his student ID, basic supplies, and dormitory key.
Based on the students' comprehensive evaluation during awakening and the estimated potential of their initial beasts, the Battle Academy divided new students into ordinary classes and the Elite Class.
The Elite Class had limited spots and enjoyed better faculty and preferential access to certain resources.
Following the instructions, Qin Ce dropped off his luggage and arrived at the classroom for the Elite Class.
When he pushed open the classroom door, more than twenty people were already seated inside, both boys and girls.
They were well-dressed, with temperaments ranging from arrogant to poised. Most were familiar with each other, chatting in low voices and forming small, distinct circles.
"My family just opened a new transport line."
"The Gold Rank beast my brother just contracted."
"I heard the City Lord's family is going to have a political marriage with Shangjin City."
Qin Ce's entrance caused the classroom to fall silent for a moment.
Everyone's gaze landed on him—faded jeans and a plain cotton T-shirt. Among this group of elite, wealthy children, he looked completely out of place.
Qin Ce remained calm and found an empty seat by the window to sit down.
Not long after Qin Ce sat down, two more people entered through the front door, immediately attracting more attention.
The girl in the lead was around seventeen or eighteen, with a slender figure and a stunningly beautiful face. Her eyes, in particular, were clear as water, possessing a natural spirit in every glance.
She wore a well-tailored light blue school uniform, and her outstanding temperament made her as dazzling as a pearl, even among this group of wealthy children.
Following behind her was another girl who was also quite pretty, though slightly less so; she was likely her best friend.
"It's Wang Xuan! The eldest daughter of Minister Wang from the City Guard!"
"She lives up to her reputation; she's truly beautiful..."
"I heard she caused quite a stir when she awakened, and the potential of the beast she contracted is at least Silver High-grade!"
"Is that Zhou Min next to her? The youngest daughter of the logistics Zhou Family, her beast is also quite good."
"As expected, the Elite Class is just different..."
Low whispers arose, and the eyes of many boys lit up.
Wang Xuan seemed long accustomed to such attention; her expression was indifferent as her gaze swept across the classroom, looking for a seat.
When her gaze swept over Qin Ce by the window, it paused slightly, as if she were surprised by this plainly dressed stranger, but she said nothing. Together with her best friend Zhou Min, she chose two empty seats in the middle of the row in front of Qin Ce.
Their choice of seats made the front half of the classroom the center of attention. Many boys were restless, wanting to sit closer to the beauties.
A few minutes later, the classroom door was pushed open.
A boy wearing a limited-edition tracksuit, hair dyed silver-gray, and with a touch of arrogance in his eyes, swaggered in, surrounded by several lackeys.
He scanned the room, his eyes lighting up when they landed on Wang Xuan in the row in front of Qin Ce.
Then, he saw Qin Ce sitting behind Wang Xuan.
The silver-haired boy frowned. First, he adjusted his collar with a feigned air of cool, then walked straight to Qin Ce's desk without any courtesy and tapped on it: "Hey, I want this seat. Go sit somewhere else."
His tone was matter-of-fact, as if he couldn't even be bothered to explain why.
The classroom fell silent for a moment.
Many people looked over; some were gloating, others indifferent. Wang Xuan and Zhou Min in the front row also glanced back. Wang Xuan frowned slightly, while Zhou Min wore an expression of someone watching a show.
Qin Ce didn't even raise his head, continuing to place the "Introduction to Basic Beast Taming" issued by the academy onto the desk.
The boy, feeling ignored, immediately darkened in expression, feeling he had lost face in front of everyone, especially Wang Xuan.
He snorted coldly and, without further ado, reached out directly to grab Qin Ce's shoulder. His fingers tightened, clearly having practiced some martial arts, intending to use brute force to lift Qin Ce up and toss him aside.
Just as his hand was about to touch Qin Ce's shoulder—
Qin Ce moved.
He remained seated, merely shifting his upper body slightly to the side to dodge the incoming hand. At the same time, his right hand shot out like lightning, precisely locking onto the opponent's wrist. With a twist, a pull, and a shove!
Wang Yu only felt an irresistible force surge toward him. He staggered backward, stumbling right out the classroom door, rolling twice in the hallway before coming to a stop.
The classroom was deathly silent.
Everyone's eyes widened, unable to believe what they had just seen.
Wang Yu was a Black Iron Mid-grade Beast Tamer, and his physical fitness was far superior to that of an ordinary person. How could he have been thrown out so easily?
Qin Ce sat up straight and reopened his book, as if he had just brushed off some dust.
In the hallway, Wang Yu scrambled up in a sorry state, his face livid. He pointed at Qin Ce, his voice trembling with rage: "You, you're courting death! Damn it! Get him, all of you! Disable him!"
The few lackeys jolted back to reality. Although they were a bit fearful, they relied on their numbers and saw this as a chance to impress their "big brother." They immediately shouted and surrounded him, some even secretly channeling the faint beast energy within them. Their fists and kicks carried faint glows, their momentum even stronger than the boy from before.
Qin Ce finally stood up and turned to face them, his eyes calm and waveless.
Under the continuous feedback of the Vermilion Bird energy and the subtle strengthening of his "Breath Condensation" talent, his speed, strength, and reaction time had long surpassed these new students who had only just contracted their beasts and had not yet undergone systematic training. He was not even inferior to some sophomore or junior students of the black iron rank.
Dealing with these playboys who had nothing but posturing and lacked combat experience was really making a mountain out of a molehill.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
A series of dull thuds and cries of pain rang out.
Everyone only saw Qin Ce's figure flickering like a ghost among them. His strikes were crisp and decisive, each one hitting precisely at the opponent's most uncomfortable or vulnerable joints and soft spots.
In less than five seconds, the four lackeys were lying on the ground in various twisted positions, groaning incessantly, having lost their ability to fight.
The whole class was silent. The gazes directed at Qin Ce had shifted from contempt to shock and disbelief.
This time, even the breathing in the classroom became quiet.
Everyone realized that this plainly dressed commoner student was probably not so simple.
