38: Chapter 38 The Theory of Bloodlines
The next morning, just as the sky was beginning to brighten, the soft sound of punches and kicks piercing the air already echoed in the courtyard.
Chu Feng stretched his limbs, performing a set of basic boxing techniques with fluid grace. Every move subtly aligned with the circulation of his spiritual power. Only after his entire body's Qi and blood were activated did he stop to return to his room and change clothes.
Today, he chose a plain brocade robe with wide sleeves. The fabric felt delicate and smooth to the touch, but it was actually a Profound Rank Low Grade Magical Artifact, a congratulatory gift he had received at the previous Foundation Establishment banquet.
Small ornaments hung from the left and right hems of the robe, making a pleasant tinkling sound as he walked.
On his feet, he wore sky-blue long boots with fine water ripple patterns embroidered on the surface; they were actually Profound Rank Medium Grade Magical Artifacts.
Finally, he took a grayish-white jade crown and placed it on his head. The jade was warm and lustrous with faint spiritual light; it was a Profound Rank High Grade Magical Artifact. The entire ensemble made him look tall and straight, with an extraordinary bearing.
"Creak." The door was pushed open, and Luo Xingyu walked in. When her gaze fell upon Chu Feng, a flash of astonishment crossed her eyes.
She stood on her tiptoes, carefully tidying the stray hairs on Chu Feng's forehead and smoothing out the wrinkles on his collar, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "My husband, dressed like this, truly makes one unable to look away."
Bai Yafei followed closely behind, carrying an exquisite wooden tray in her hands, upon which sat a few small, sweet-smelling pastries.
Her gaze lingered on Chu Feng, and she softly added, "Dressed entirely in Profound Rank Magical Artifacts, my husband, you look truly outstanding."
Chu Feng smiled, raised his hand, and lightly flicked Luo Xingyu's nose, teasing, "When I return from the banquet and wine tasting, I will not only make your hearts flutter but also make you 'sound' out."
Hearing this, a blush spread across the faces of Luo Xingyu and Bai Yafei, though a hint of imperceptible trepidation hid in the depths of their eyes.
Ever since the System upgraded, every time Chu Feng engaged in Dao exchanges with them, that overbearing yet exquisite power left them unable to cope. Hearing him speak this way now, they naturally understood his implication.
While they were joking, Jiang Miaoyi walked out from the quiet room next door.
Today, she had changed into a silver-white dress; the fabric was as light and thin as a feather. As she moved, her sleeves fluttered, making her look like a Heavenly Immortal descending from the Nine Heavens, cold and otherworldly.
Chu Feng's gaze swept over her involuntarily. He vaguely felt that her figure seemed more voluptuous than usual. His heart stirred slightly, but he calmly shifted his gaze away. "Immortal Master Miaoyi, we can set off now."
Jiang Miaoyi nodded slightly, her gaze sweeping over the Magical Artifacts on his body. Her tone was indifferent but carried a hint of approval. "This attire is not bad; a Talisman Master should be this presentable."
When the group left the East Street of the First Ring of Hongyue City, the morning glow had not yet fully dispersed. The orange-red rays spread out, dyeing half the sky and creating a magnificent and moving scene.
Cultivators came and went in an endless stream on the long street. Seeing that the three of them had an extraordinary bearing, especially Chu Feng with his Magical Artifacts faintly shimmering with spiritual light, they all turned to look, curious about the origins of this group.
When they reached the gate of Hongyue City, the morning sun had already broken through the clouds, and golden radiance poured down, spilling onto the towering city walls.
The dense defensive runes engraved on the surface of the city wall shimmered with a faint flowing light under the sunlight, exuding a heavy defensive power.
The clear daylight fell on Jiang Miaoyi's silver dress, reflecting fine, shimmering light, making her look heroic and imposing, with a little less coldness and a little more radiance.
Jiang Miaoyi waved her jade hand lightly, and a flash of spiritual light passed by. A spiritual boat about ten meters long appeared out of thin air. The boat was intricately carved and painted, surrounded by Immortal Qi.
She formed a seal with her fingertips and pointed; the spiritual boat instantly turned into a stream of light and shot into the sky. Its speed was astonishing, and in the blink of an eye, it had risen to a height of a hundred zhang, with the city beneath their feet gradually shrinking.
Chu Feng stood at the edge of the spiritual boat, looking down at Hongyue City below.
The entire city was laid out in an orderly fashion, with streets crisscrossing like a chessboard, ring after ring. The closer one got to the city center, the more magnificent and luxurious the buildings became.
The distant Hongyue Lake rippled with light, the water glowing with a faint purple jade luster, like a huge piece of treasure jade embedded in the city, exceptionally eye-catching.
"Immortal Master Miaoyi." Chu Feng suddenly spoke, breaking the silence in the air.
"What is it?" Jiang Miaoyi turned to the side, her gaze falling on him.
"When I have been Cultivating these past few days, I always feel a stream of heat inexplicably surging within my body, coursing through my limbs and bones. It both nourishes my magical power and tempers my Physical Body."
"At first, that heat was very weak, but these past few days it has become increasingly obvious. I really don't know the reason for it," Chu Feng said truthfully, his tone carrying a hint of confusion.
A flash of surprise crossed Jiang Miaoyi's eyes. She scrutinized him carefully for a few moments before slowly speaking: "This should be the Bloodline reward you received after passing the true disciple assessment."
"This Bloodline is hidden within your body and will slowly awaken as your cultivation level increases, continuously nourishing your Physical Body and magical power."
She paused and added, "The Bloodline Power is extremely mysterious and varied. Some can strengthen the Physical Body, making you impervious to blades and spears."
"Some can enhance your Comprehension Ability, allowing your cultivation speed to progress rapidly by leaps and bounds; others can even awaken powerful innate Divine Abilities, doubling your combat strength."
"The fact that you can clearly perceive the surging of your Bloodline at the Foundation Establishment Stage shows that the level of this Bloodline is definitely not low."
After speaking, she hesitated for a moment before asking, "Chu Feng, what was your final score in the second round of the true disciple assessment?"
Chu Feng gave a bitter smile and shook his head. "I don't know either. As soon as the assessment ended, a powerful energy suddenly surged out, pushing me directly to the Foundation Establishment Realm. I didn't even see the score panel before the assessment ended."
He paused, then curiously asked, "Immortal Master Miaoyi, does this Bloodline Power actually have such miraculous effects? If it is this powerful, wouldn't one be able to rely on the Bloodline to Cultivate all the way to the Nascent Soul Realm?"
Jiang Miaoyi's expression became serious, and her tone turned stern: "The Bloodline is a treasure-level resource of the Duobao Pavilion, and its mysteries are far beyond your imagination."
"But you must remember that the path of cultivation ultimately relies on oneself. The Bloodline can only serve as an aid; you must never rely on it excessively."
"Throughout history, how many Prodigies gifted with top-tier Bloodlines, relying on their innate talents and the power of their Bloodlines, neglected their cultivation and blindly depended on the support of their Bloodlines? Eventually, they got stuck at a certain Realm Bottleneck, unable to make any progress for the rest of their lives, becoming a laughingstock to the world."
She raised her eyes to look at the rolling sea of clouds in the distance, her tone carrying a hint of emotion. "Chu Feng, you are now a true disciple of the Duobao Pavilion. Do not let your vision be limited to such a remote corner as Nanshan Prefecture."
"Beyond Nanshan Prefecture, there are vast continents; beyond those continents, there are five immense lands."
"The Dao of Talismans is but one of the thousands of cultivation methods. What truly allows you to stand firm in this world is, after all, your own cultivation strength."
"Being able to obtain this High Grade Bloodline is a tremendous Opportunity, but you must also remember not to let this Opportunity become a shackle that binds you."
Chu Feng heard both a hint of imperceptible envy and, more importantly, sincere admonition in her words. He immediately bowed solemnly. "Thank you, Immortal Master, for your guidance; Chu Feng understands. Being able to obtain this Bloodline is merely a stroke of luck; I will never neglect my cultivation."
He then asked, "By the way, since this Bloodline is a treasure-level resource, it must be extremely difficult to obtain within the Duobao Pavilion, right?"
"Only through this one Opportunity during the true disciple assessment."
Jiang Miaoyi's tone was indifferent. "And not every true disciple assessment yields a Bloodline reward; it all depends on luck and the potential of the examinee. Being able to obtain this Opportunity is a truly great fortune."
