190: Chapter 190: The Three Demon Kings
Outside the Sword Qi Great Wall, in the Grey Stone Wasteland.
At Captain Zhao's command, everyone began to retreat.
The lowest cultivation level among this group was the Nascent Soul Stage; upon hearing the order to retreat, they immediately displayed their respective divine abilities.
Everyone turned into streaks of light, racing toward the Sword Qi Great Wall.
The Monster Hunting Team was even more efficient, being seasoned veterans of the battlefield.
The moment they heard the command, everyone transformed into Sword Shields and sped away.
This was a standardized Escape Technique of the Sword Qi Great Wall. By rapidly changing formations, the Sword Shields spread out in a fan shape, forming a massive defensive array to protect the Loose Cultivators in the center.
At the rear of the crowd was Captain Zhao.
Riding his Black-Scaled Tiger, he followed steadily at the back of the group with simple, long strides.
Captain Zhao sat backward on the black tiger, his greyish-white eyes scanning the surroundings, his scarred face appearing particularly menacing amidst the wind and sand.
"Everyone, don't hold back! Pick up the pace!"
At the very front of the crowd, Old Liu shouted at the top of his lungs, his body glowing with dark red spiritual light as he further accelerated.
Beside him, three team members each held their Magical Artifacts, similarly burning their essence blood to increase their speed.
Among the crowd, Loose Cultivators were scattered in small groups; some flew on swords, some rode Spirit Beasts, and others utilized movement techniques.
In short, everyone was showing off their unique skills.
Everyone knew that they absolutely could not fall behind at a time like this, or death would be the only outcome.
Li Changsheng and Su Qinghan blended into the crowd, pushing their Escape Techniques to the limit.
Dressed in a green robe, Li Changsheng moved with his hands behind his back, his Divine Sense fully extended to cover a radius of a hundred zhang.
Su Qinghan, in white clothes as pure as snow, held a long sword. A thin layer of frost had condensed on the blade, radiating a biting chill.
She looked back at the distant rift valley from time to time, her brow slightly furrowed.
"Junior Brother Li."
She suddenly spoke.
Li Changsheng turned his head. "Hmm?"
"Do you feel like something's wrong?"
"We've been running for so long, yet we still haven't seen the Sword Qi Great Wall."
Li Changsheng was startled.
"You mean... we're trapped in a Domain?"
Su Qinghan didn't answer, only tightening her grip on her sword.
Just then.
Captain Zhao, who had been at the rear, suddenly moved to the very front.
The Black-Scaled Tiger let out a sudden, low roar, commanding everyone to stop.
The group halted instantly, everyone looking toward Captain Zhao in unison.
Captain Zhao's greyish-white eyes were fixed on the distant horizon.
There, the wind and sand filled the sky, blotting out the sun.
"Stop running,"
he said in a heavy voice.
Old Liu approached. "Captain, what's wrong?"
Captain Zhao didn't answer, instead pulling a bronze-colored compass from his robes.
The compass was covered in dense runes, and the needle in the center was spinning wildly, unable to stabilize.
"We've been ambushed."
"There's a Domain here set up by Yao Kings. Everyone, form a formation!"
No sooner had he spoken.
The space ahead suddenly distorted violently.
A black light barrier descended from the sky, enveloping the entire team.
Strange blood-red runes flowed across the light barrier, emitting a suffocating Demonic Qi.
At the edges of the barrier, space looked like torn cloth, revealing the greyish-black Void Realm within.
"It really is a Domain! A Domain of three Yao Kings!"
Old Liu's expression changed.
He knew all too well how terrifying Void Refinement Stage experts were, and the enemy had come prepared.
It looked like their chances of survival were slim this time!
At the very front of the crowd, Captain Zhao remained calm.
Even though they had been ambushed, he didn't show a hint of panic.
Because panic served no purpose and might even lead to their total annihilation.
Captain Zhao paused for a moment, then urged the Black-Scaled Tiger beneath him to charge at the light barrier.
The Black-Scaled Tiger's paws kicked up wind as it turned into a black shadow and crashed headlong into the barrier.
The light barrier didn't budge, but the Black-Scaled Tiger was bounced back.
It shook its head slightly at Captain Zhao.
Captain Zhao immediately said in a low voice,
"Yao Kings of the Void Refinement Stage, at least three of them."
From within the crowd,
a Loose Cultivator at the Nascent Soul Stage shouted in terror.
"Three Yao Kings? Doesn't that mean we're dead for sure?"
An old man beside him slapped him on the head.
"Shut up! We're not dead yet!".
Another Monster Hunting Team member at the Peak Soul Transformation Stage summoned a Bronze Mirror. The mirror suspended in mid-air, firing a beam of golden light that struck the barrier.
The golden light was like a clay ox entering the sea, vanishing without a trace.
"My Restriction-Breaking Mirror didn't even cause a ripple?"
This meant that aside from Captain Zhao, who was also at the Void Refinement Stage, no one else could possibly break this light barrier.
Captain Zhao ignored this, took a Jade Talisman from his robes, and crushed it.
The Jade Talisman turned into a golden light and soared toward the sky.
In an instant, it blasted a tiny crack in the barrier, but the crack healed immediately.
"Even the Transmission Talisman can't get out; this Domain isolates everything."
Old Liu gripped his blood-drinking blade.
"Captain, what do we do?"
Captain Zhao remained silent for a moment, then looked up beyond the light barrier.
There, three massive figures were taking shape.
First to appear was a giant tiger, golden all over.
It was ten zhang long, its body covered in golden scales. Each scale was like a small shield, glinting blindingly in the sunlight.
On its forehead was the pattern of the character 'King', within which golden flames flickered, emitting a suffocating pressure.
It was the Overlord Tiger.
It raised a paw and stepped down lightly.
The earth trembled, splitting into countless fissures, as debris flew everywhere.
Next, a black shadow spiraled down from the sky, transforming into a pitch-black giant python.
The Netherworld Python coiled to the left of the Overlord Tiger, its body slowly writhing with a rustling sound.
Finally, a flash of white light appeared.
A snow-white giant wolf landed to the right of the Overlord Tiger.
The giant wolf was five zhang long with silver fur. Each hair stood up like a steel needle, radiating a bone-chilling cold.
The Frost Wolf King.
The three Yao Kings stood together, their hundred-zhang-tall bodies blotting out the sun and surrounding the entire team.
Their Demonic Qi surged like a tide, making it hard for everyone to breathe.
Captain Zhao, riding the Black-Scaled Tiger, looked up at the three Yao Kings.
"I wondered who it was."
"So it's you three losers. A hundred years ago, the Lord should have killed all of you."
The Overlord Tiger looked down at him, a hint of wariness flashing in its golden vertical pupils.
Clearly, the "Lord" Captain Zhao mentioned had left an indelible impression on it.
However, that trace of wariness was quickly replaced by mockery.
"Old Man Zhao, you're on the brink of death, yet you're still so stubborn."
"How many of my kin have your Human Race killed? Today, it's time to pay the debt."
Its voice was like thunder, making everyone's eardrums ache.
Captain Zhao sneered.
"Pay the debt? You Yao Race invaded human territory, killing, burning, and plundering resources. You deserved to be killed."
"Heh... Stubborn!"
