"That’s not the answer to my question," Aaron pressed, his tone unyielding.He wiped a trickle of blood from his lip, the metallic taste grounding him amid the cosmic isolation.

"Well, first off, there is no reason to go all out against you," Lilith said, her voice smooth and conversational.

"You’d be dead before you know it." She paused, letting the words sink in, her smile turning playful yet edged with menace.

"And secondly, what’s the point of killing someone so interesting?"

"Interesting?" Aaron echoed, surprise flickering across his features.

He found Lilith’s choice of words amusing, a rare crack in his cold facade.
