29: Chapter 29 Congratulations on obtaining the title: The Stealth

Seeing that light, Gu Changming glanced at the two of them and said, "You're finished. You've created light; the Shadow Devourer will be chasing us in a moment."

Looking at the inexplicably appearing Gu Changming, Zhou Tunan and the woman were both stunned, unable to quite grasp the situation.

However, they didn't have time to figure it out.

The next second, the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps came from the emergency exit.

The two of them jerked their heads up to look.

*Thump!*

A loud crashing sound rang out as the iron door to the stairwell was violently slammed open.

The distorted figure of the Shadow Devourer rushed out. After spotting the three of them, it kicked off the corridor floor with its limbs like black lightning, pouncing straight toward them!

"Run," Gu Changming said, his tone still carrying a sense of indifference.

Zhou Tunan and the woman exchanged a glance and made a decision instantly.

The woman reacted extremely quickly, being the first to turn and rush toward the window at the end of the corridor.

Zhou Tunan did not hesitate either, following closely behind her.

Gu Changming stayed behind to cover the rear, turning to face the pouncing Shadow Devourer.

With a sudden wave of his hand, several sharp iron nails hidden in his sleeves shot out, accompanied by a faint whistling sound.

*Puchi!*

The iron nails accurately embedded themselves into the Shadow Devourer's body, but it was like throwing pebbles into a deep pool; it only caused a very brief stagnation in its forward momentum.

Gu Changming frowned slightly; his attack methods were ineffective.

*Shatter!*

The harsh sound of glass being violently smashed came from the end of the corridor.

The woman didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately leaped out. Although Zhou Tunan was somewhat hesitant, his body followed suit and jumped out spontaneously.

Staying here meant death anyway, so it was better to jump together. She said she had a way, so he might as well trust her.

After the two left, Gu Changming no longer tangled with the Shadow Devourer.

He twisted his body suddenly, rushed to the window in a few steps, and likewise leaped out without hesitation.

Almost immediately after, the ferocious Shadow Devourer also reached the window and followed them, jumping down!

High up on a residential unit building in the night-shrouded neighborhood.

An even larger, more distorted black shadow burst through a window, its twisted body tumbling in the air and tracing an arc.

Then, a muffled "boom" came from below.

The Shadow Devourer, like a heavy black stone, slammed solidly onto the concrete ground below.

Its body was twisted into an unnatural posture, motionless, as if it had fallen to its death.

But after only a few seconds, that limp black shadow began to squirm, its joints twisting, and a moment later, it stood up as if nothing had happened.

After standing up, it remained in place for a few seconds, its blurry head swaying slightly from side to side as if sensing something.

Quickly, it locked onto a direction. Over there, a faint light suddenly flashed through the curtains of a first-floor apartment.

Immediately after, it began its eerie gait, walking unhurriedly toward that point of light.

The exterior wall of the high-rise building.

Gu Changming's right hand tightly gripped a Tang Dao, which was thrust deep into the concrete edge between floors, providing him with support.

His left arm tightly hooked under Zhou Tunan's armpit, while Zhou Tunan's other hand death-gripped the woman's wrist.

The three of them hung suspended outside the wall over a dozen stories high, swaying slightly in the night wind.

It was then that a translucent notification box popped up in front of all three simultaneously:

[Congratulations on successfully evading a pursuit by the Shadow Devourer. You have obtained the Title: Lurker]

All three were stunned and subconsciously looked at each other.

They escaped?

They even got a title; the score for this Assessment should be quite a bit higher.

Of course, now was not the time to worry about that.

Zhou Tunan glanced down, the height of dozens of meters making his throat tighten. He couldn't help but swallow hard and looked anxiously at the other two.

"What do we do now?"

At this height, if Gu Changming let go, they would all be toast.

Whether they got a score or not would be useless then.

Gu Changming was about to speak, but the woman beat him to it, beginning to chant obscure syllables in a low voice.

As her final syllable fell, a gentle, invisible force quietly enveloped the three of them.

Suddenly, Zhou Tunan felt his body lighten. The originally heavy sensation of falling disappeared, as if he had turned into a feather, feeling almost weightless.

Gu Changming also noticed the change in his body, and his heart stirred: "Light Feather Technique?"

Seeing the change, Gu Changming exerted force with his right hand and cleanly pulled the Tang Dao out of the concrete.

Having lost their only anchor point, the three did not fall rapidly. Instead, they drifted down slowly and steadily at a leisurely pace.

Tang Ningfei had originally intended this—to jump outside with Zhou Tunan and then cast the Light Feather Technique to protect them.

She just hadn't expected Gu Changming to rush out midway and then catch both of them in mid-air, hanging them on the wall.

The three of them landed lightly on the soil of the residential green belt, making almost no sound.

The moment they landed, the three of them cautiously scanned their surroundings to avoid any other threats.

Tang Ningfei panted slightly after landing, quickly steadying her breath. Casting a spell to support three people at once was no small drain on her.

After catching her breath, she spoke first: "Let's find a place to hide first."

"Yeah," Zhou Tunan nodded.

Gu Changming naturally had no objections either.

Gu Changming's gaze locked onto the nearest unit door, and the three of them immediately moved toward that building in tacit agreement.

They quickly reached the first-floor lobby and then found a room where there was no sound or movement inside.

Gu Changming stepped forward, extending a finger to press lightly against the door lock, his Psychokinesis probing into the lock cylinder.

*Click.*

Gu Changming pushed the door open and entered. Zhou Tunan and Tang Ningfei followed closely behind, slipping in quickly. He then reached back to gently close the door and relock it.

The room instantly fell into darkness, so pitch-black that one couldn't see their own hand. Only the sound of the three's slightly suppressed breathing remained.

In the darkness, the three subconsciously spread out, each leaning against a wall to form a vague triangular formation.

"Who are you?" Zhou Tunan spoke first, his voice kept extremely low, almost just a whisper.

In the darkness, a very soft cold snort came from Tang Ningfei's direction.

"You led that thing to my place, and you're asking who I am?" Her tone carried a note of annoyance.

She had been staying perfectly fine in her home, but this guy had led that thing to her, nearly getting her killed.

Zhou Tunan was momentarily speechless, pursing his lips somewhat awkwardly.

Then, he subconsciously turned his head toward Gu Changming's direction.

The woman was one thing, since she was a neighbor, but this man who had suddenly appeared—he really couldn't figure out the situation.

As if noticing his gaze, Gu Changming spoke slowly in the darkness, his voice steady: "We know each other. Have you forgotten?"

Zhou Tunan was stunned, searching his memory with effort, but he couldn't recall the other person at all.
