27: Crisis in the Forest
Outside the house, Qian Feng narrowed his eyes, gazing at the white clouds and blue sky, when the sound of soft footsteps came from behind him.
He turned his head and carefully sized up the young girl. Ye Lingling possessed a temperament that made one "feel pity at first sight."
Ye Lingling silently raised her head to glance at Qian Feng; as their eyes met, she quickly lowered her head again.
"I won't do anything to you. Just focus on your cultivation and do your duty as a healing Spirit Master, that is all." Qian Feng smiled lightly, as if a spring breeze had brushed past.
Ye Lingling nodded, her face devoid of any expression.
What an ice block.
"Right, your Nine Hearted Sea Tang lineage only passes on to one person after another dies. This is clearly against the Douluo laws. Perhaps in the future, I will be able to resolve this peculiar constraint for you, allowing your Nine Hearted Sea Tang clan to surpass the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School!"
As Qian Feng finished speaking, a gleam of light finally appeared in Ye Lingling's eyes. She immediately looked up at him and asked softly, "Is that true, Master?"
Ye Lingling understood the gap in status between them.
Qian Feng waved his hand and stepped forward to examine her closely, muttering in his heart, "She is certainly a beauty in the making; I wonder what she will look like in a few more years."
Sensing Qian Feng's slightly aggressive gaze, she froze, not daring to make any movement.
"Ahem, you look beautiful, so I just admired you for a few moments." Qian Feng joked, then turned to release his terrifying level sixty Soul Power!
Ye Lingling suddenly felt her breath hitch. She took a few steps back and looked at Qian Feng, murmuring, "You, you are only twelve or thirteen, right? How could you possibly have such terrifying Soul Power!"
As Qian Feng's spirit rings floated up, the six great spirit rings shook the girl's heart.
"Well, do you believe now that I have the ability to try and change the fate of your clan?" Qian Feng spread his hands, enjoying teasing the quiet and reserved, adorable girl.
This was a different experience from his younger sister, Qian Renxue.
"Mm-hmm." Ye Lingling nodded.
Qian Feng stepped forward and pinched the girl's ear, causing Ye Lingling to lower her head again. "You like black dresses, right? Let's go. I'll take you to a nearby small town to buy some. Right, after buying clothes, I will take you to a place."
He looked at the girl's bare feet and shook his head with a sigh.
Mother is really something; she could at least have thrown her a pair of shoes.
"Oh." Ye Lingling did not ask any questions and followed behind Qian Feng.
Considering her Soul Power was too low, flying would certainly be inconvenient.
Qian Feng decided to take a carriage to Soto City. Fortunately, there were main roads along the way, so it would not take too much time.
By evening, they were still a day's journey from Soto City.
The small town was quite lively, and the passersby looked at this pair of young man and girl with expressions of amazement in their eyes.
What was even more peculiar was that Ye Lingling was still barefoot, and the thin black dress outlined the girl's exquisite figure.
She used her Soul Power to wrap around her feet, so walking was not a hindrance.
Ye Lingling had no reaction to the surrounding gazes, which only made Qian Feng realize just how cold a girl's temperament could be.
The two entered a dress shop, where they were greeted by an enthusiastic woman. She had an ordinary appearance and an average figure, but she had a sharp tongue and spoke to them warmly:
"Oh my~ Which prince and little princess have graced my shop? Come, come~ Little princess, are you picking out a dress? With your figure, anything you wear will look good!"
Ye Lingling was startled by this sudden enthusiasm and looked at Qian Feng with panic in her eyes.
"It's fine, if you like them, just buy a few more." Qian Feng smiled at the corner of his mouth and took out a silver card from his pocket.
"A hundred-thousand silver coin card!" The proprietress was shocked when she saw the silver card, and she didn't forget to keep fluttering her eyes at Qian Feng.
Ye Lingling didn't have much reaction; after all, as the Young Master of Spirit Hall, would he lack money?
Qian Feng felt a chill down his spine from being stared at, so he immediately waved his hand and let the proprietress take Ye Lingling to pick out dresses. He himself extended his Soul Power outside the shop and counted silently in his heart:
"One, two… five? Five people. Their Soul Power is very strange; it seems they are Evil Soul Masters."
"How is it? Does it look good?" While Qian Feng was still surprised, Ye Lingling's cold, clear voice came from in front of him. As soon as he raised his head, he was stunned by the beauty before him.
Although Ye Lingling had not fully matured, her temperament had already been set. In a clear blue long dress, with matching low-heeled shoes on her feet, she looked like a bright moon reflected in the quiet lake water in the forest.
It was a pity that she did not like to smile, which added to her coldness and reduced a bit of softness and warmth.
"Just one set? Not buying more?" Qian Feng smiled, thinking that beautiful people are always worth looking at more, and he sized her up from head to toe.
"Exactly, such a beautiful young beauty! You should buy more, I'll give you a discount!" The proprietress also looked at Ye Lingling, shaking her head in constant admiration.
"That's enough."
Ye Lingling's voice was flat, seemingly indifferent to her own beauty, but only Qian Feng discovered a hint of secret joy in the depths of her beautiful eyes.
The two left the shop, and they received even more gazes along the way, most of which were on Ye Lingling.
What left Qian Feng somewhat speechless was that she had absolutely no reaction at all, like a piece of wood.
If it were his younger sister, Qian Renxue, being praised and watched like this, she would probably be skipping as she walked.
The gazes of the five strange Spirit Masters behind them became a bit more aggressive and lecherous, and the five of them began to spread out.
"Let's go this way, we won't take the carriage." Qian Feng changed direction and headed toward the foot of an empty mountain. Ye Lingling obediently listened, without any questions.
The two soon arrived at the foot of a mountain, a place where almost no one passed.
"Watch out!" Qian Feng quickly called out, six spirit rings rising from beneath his feet, blocking the side of Ye Lingling!
The five Evil Soul Masters did not say a word. Since it was an ambush, why would there be any idle chatter right from the start?
Five black Soul Power attacks came at them simultaneously from different directions!
"Brilliant Thunder War Armor." Qian Feng narrowed his eyes and snorted coldly. Activating his Spirit Bone, lightning transformed into a shield, forming a semicircle that enveloped the area.
Only then did he find the time to clearly see the appearance of the five. They were all dressed in black robes, making it impossible to tell their gender or build.
Seeing that Qian Feng had some skills, the five exchanged glances and nodded. Five spirit rings floated up from beneath their feet—five Spirit Kings!
"Nine Hearted Sea Tang!" Ye Lingling's eyes were filled with shock. She bit her lower lip slightly, holding the Begonia flower in her hands as she stood by Qian Feng's side.
"No need, just protect yourself. With your current healing volume, against the attacks of these five Spirit Kings…" Qian Feng shook his head. His hands transformed into lightning blades, and he was the first to single one out and charge over!
A quick battle to force a quick decision; otherwise, the difference in numbers would put him at a disadvantage.
"Fourth Soul Skill: Blazing Lightning Spear!"
Qian Feng leaped into the air. A sudden sound rang out in his hand, and with the thunder spear in hand, he threw it toward one of them.
The other four coordinated well, understanding the principle that killing Qian Feng would mean victory, and they all attacked toward Qian Feng!
