Chapter 11: A Young Woman, Still Pure! (Please keep reading)
Old Lady Fang’s words left Bai Zhihui stunned.
She never imagined that another woman, a seemingly kind and dignified old lady, could utter such inhumane and morally depraved words!
Was it her fault that she couldn’t bear children?
She had been magnanimous, and now it was being twisted into her own failing.
Now, she was being blackmailed, forced to trade her dignity for food!
Bai Zhihui was the daughter of a middle-class family; her pride would not allow her to do such a thing.
Looking at their scrutinizing, even coercive gazes, she still shook her head resolutely.
“I won’t go!”
She gritted her teeth, these three words like three daggers piercing Shao Wenxuan’s heart.
Hunger and shame completely stripped him of his reason.
‘Slap!’
A harsh slap landed on Bai Zhihui’s face, and Shao Wenxuan roared:
“You married into my family, you are my property.”
“You do whatever I tell you to do!”
“All these years, I’ve bought you so many things, and now you’re acting so high and mighty?”
“All that talk of scholarly integrity and moral character, it’s all fake.”
“It’s fine to fool others, but you actually believed it yourself!”
“What kind of world is this now? It’s the apocalypse, the most important thing for everyone is to fill their stomachs.”
“As long as there’s food, anything is acceptable.”
“You go find him! If you don’t, I’ll beat you, I’ll beat you until you go!”
With that, he became like an agitated monkey, raging impotently, only capable of bullying at home, raining punches and kicks on Bai Zhihui.
Bai Zhihui curled up on the carpet, the physical pain on her body far less than the anguish caused by the shock to her heart.
God knows how much courage she had mustered before to break through numerous obstacles and marry for love.
What she relied on was precisely this belief in integrity and moral character.
She had always believed that humans were rational beings with ideals, fundamentally different from animals in the natural world.
Even in extremely harsh environments, humans would possess the most basic and simple moral and value systems.
But now, her husband, whom she regarded as an ideological benchmark, was displaying such a primitive, beastly side.
It was like a heavy hammer smashing the mirror in her heart, the one called ‘ideals and beliefs,’ shattering her world.
And those sharp fragments deeply wounded her!
Before long, Shao Wenxuan, weakened and hungry, stopped, using his last bit of strength to roughly drag Bai Zhihui out the door.
“If you don’t bring back food, don’t even think about coming back inside!”
Before his words faded, the door slammed shut.
Bai Zhihui was thrown out like trash, leaning against the corner, hugging her knees, curled up, her tears soaking her clothes.
Her crying was silent, her heart dead, her sorrow voiceless.
After crying for a while, she seemed to want to salvage the situation.
She immediately knocked on the door and said:
“Let me in, open the door, this is my home too!”
A few minutes later, the door opened.
Bai Zhihui thought Shao Wenxuan had finally had a change of heart, and just as a smile appeared, she was kicked in the shoulder.
She was knocked completely over.
“Stop shouting! You’re disturbing my mom’s rest.”
“This isn’t your home, this home belongs to the Shao family, you’re just an outsider.”
“We don’t have children, no blood ties.”
“You can’t contribute to this family, you don’t deserve to be my family!”
“Hurry up and go get me some food, otherwise, never step foot in my house again, I’m divorcing you.”
With a dull thud, the door closed once more.
For Bai Zhihui.
This time, the door symbolizing her ideals and principles in her heart was completely shut.
Her tears were still flowing, until more than an hour later, her tears dried up, and her eyes became parched.
She looked up at Shao Wenxuan’s door.
“This isn’t my home.”
She decided that she would survive, and then, go home!
She knocked on the door again.
Shao Wenxuan impatiently opened the door, about to curse, but saw Bai Zhihui speak first:
“I agree.”
“Let me in to put on makeup. Looking like this, they might not agree to the exchange.”
Shao Wenxuan was stunned by her words.
But he felt a bit uneasy inside.
After all, Bai Zhihui was his lawfully wedded wife; he had never been able to enjoy her, and now she was going to benefit another man.
But he really needed Bai Zhihui to exchange for food.
He immediately snorted, a look of contempt in his eyes.
“What was with the act of a pure and virtuous woman just now? Didn’t you still agree in the end?!”
“You’re just that kind of person at heart, you slut, hurry up and make yourself look good, sell for a good price.”
Bai Zhihui clenched her fists, gritted her teeth, and looked at Shao Wenxuan with cold indifference.
But at this moment, she no longer made a scene, simply walked silently to the dressing table.
Looking at her bruised and swollen face, her messy hair, only desolation remained in her heart.
This was absolutely the most pathetic moment of her life.
She began to doll herself up, bit by bit covering her wounds.
Since there was no water, combing her hair caused a stinging pain, but she still endured it and smoothed her hair.
Then she changed into black stockings, a bodycon skirt, and an open-collared shirt.
Looking at his beautiful and distinguished wife, and thinking about what she was about to do, Shao Wenxuan couldn’t help but curse again.
“Whore! Hurry up!”
Bai Zhihui left without a word, came to the sixth floor, and knocked on the door of 601.
Lu Zheng was chatting with the two women, together finishing off the roasted duck he had just taken out.
Hearing the sound, he first had Yu Zihan check at the door.
“Husband, it’s a woman.”
Yu Zihan’s tone was a little sour; although she could accept Lu Zheng having other women, with each additional person, resources would have to be shared among more people.
And her time with Lu Zheng would also be divided.
She naturally had emotions inside.
Lu Zheng didn’t pay attention to her little expression, came to the door, and immediately recognized the person.
Isn’t this Professor Shao’s young wife from the top floor?

She was also an editor for a magazine.
Through the door, Lu Zheng asked:
“Editor Bai, is that you?”
Hearing Lu Zheng’s voice, Bai Zhihui immediately became nervous.
Although she had made up her mind, the shame in her heart still made it difficult for her to speak. It took a full minute before she finally made a sound.
“I saw the message you sent. Do you think I… can I?”
“Although I’m already married, he’s impotent, so I’m still a virgin.”
Inside the door, Yu Zihan couldn’t help but curl her lips at the words.
She thought to herself, ‘Sure enough, another one offering herself up. Looks like I’ll have another sister.’
