67: The personnel composition of the Demon Subduing Division

Tang Chenyi swept his gaze over everyone. “I only know about the stakes involved in these matters. I came in a hurry this morning, and my family didn’t explain much in detail, but I’m clear that our families have already formed an alliance. As for Lu Ze, he can be considered to be on our side as well.”

Although Qin Wan had thought things through, she still didn’t agree. “What you’ve said, I need to go back and verify with my elders at home. I can’t just agree to it blindly based solely on your words.”

Tang Chenyi understood and nodded. “That’s natural.”

Song Wushuang thought the same as Qin Wan. She briefly stated her opinion, saying they should plan further during their next meeting.

Fu Liang leaned closer to Lu Ze. “If it’s really as Tang Chenyi said, then if Wang Jun appears, Young Master Lu must be careful!”

“I know.”

Lu Ze swallowed the breakfast in his hand, his eyes calm.

Everyone fell into silence. Just then, a male voice called out, “Gengsi Class Demon Subduing Division personnel, gather here!”

Everyone looked in the direction of the voice. This year was the Gengsi year, and since they entered the Demon Subduing Division this year, they were naturally Gengsi Class personnel.

Two people arrived, both wearing the azure uniforms of the Demon Subduing Division, indicating a Rank higher than theirs!

Looking up, they saw the faces of the two, and everyone couldn’t help but frown.

They had all seen these two before; it was Xu Lan and Pang Cheng from a few days ago!

“Why is it them? Damn it, that woman almost got us killed!”

“Meow meow, that woman isn’t here to get revenge on us, is she?! This guy seems pretty good; he let us in quickly at the time.”

“Laughable, has your brain been trampled by a pig? If it wasn’t for Lu Ze, would he have let us in?!”

The people behind Lu Ze began to discuss animatedly, all expressing their dissatisfaction with the two.

Pang Cheng and Xu Lan walked up and stood in front of the crowd.

“Hello, Gengsi Class personnel. I, Pang Cheng, and Xu Lan have been assigned by our superiors to explain some matters concerning the Demon Subduing Division to you over the next two days.”

Pang Cheng smiled, with no hint of awkwardness on his face, as if he had never met these people before and no unpleasantness had ever occurred.

Xu Lan, on the other hand, glared at Lu Ze with hatred, the anger in her eyes almost wanting to kill him!

Hmph, she was clearly one Rank higher than Lu Ze!

Yet, she was kicked by him! And even after reporting the incident, Lu Ze faced no consequences, while she was disciplined!

They said she, Xu Lan, obstructed people from returning after completing a mission, and if it happened again, she would be directly kicked out of the Demon Subduing Division!

Moreover, according to her inquiries over the past few days, Xia Yuanhong should be dead.

In these short few days, Xu Lan had experienced quite a shock, and it was all thanks to Lu Ze!

Even though she had no evidence to suggest Xia Yuanhong’s death was related to Lu Ze, she still blamed Xia Yuanhong’s death on Lu Ze.

At this moment, her hatred for Lu Ze reached its Peak; even others could see her venomous gaze towards him.

Pang Cheng naturally noticed Xu Lan’s gaze, but he ignored it.

Although he was honest, he wasn’t stupid. The way the higher-ups handled Lu Ze’s matter in the past few days was enough for some people to realize that Lu Ze was highly valued.

Pang Cheng knew he was just an average person, destined to spend his life in the Xuanyuan City Demon Subduing Division, making do until retirement, whatever Rank he reached.

To seriously contend with someone like Lu Ze, who was destined to surpass him, would truly be seeking death.

As for whether Xu Lan was seeking death, it had nothing to do with him.

Pang Cheng maintained his gentle smile and said to everyone, “Everyone, first, let me briefly introduce the personnel structure of the Demon Subduing Division.”

Everyone perked up their ears and listened.

“The Municipal Demon Subduing Division is jointly led by one Director and two Deputy Directors. Below the Director, there are four Grand Commanders. Below the Grand Commanders, there are twelve Little Commanders. These nineteen individuals hold the decision-making power for all matters of the Demon Subduing Division.”

“Each Little Commander oversees six Grand Commanders and twenty-two Little Commanders, forming the backbone of the Demon Subduing Division. However, they don’t spend much time in the Division because, in addition to handling Division affairs, they also have to go on missions themselves to slay demons, so they are very busy.”

“Each Little Commander will oversee fifty people. These fifty people have no special title and are simply divided into five Ranks: ‘Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu,’ with Jia being the highest and Wu the lowest.”

Pang Cheng pointed to everyone’s black clothes. “The black clothes you are wearing indicate that you are Wu Class personnel.”

After speaking, Pang Cheng’s finger turned to his own azure clothes. “My clothes are azure, which is what Ding Class personnel wear.”

“And Bing Class is yellow, Yi Class is orange, and Jia Class is red. Different Ranks also receive different treatment.”

Pang Cheng didn’t waste words, explaining the general personnel structure of the entire Demon Subduing Division in just a few sentences.

As his voice fell, someone immediately asked, “Then how does one get promoted?”

Pang Cheng smiled with satisfaction. “Everyone is currently only Wu Class. After completing three designated missions, your performance will be evaluated, and at that time, your Rank will change.”

“After the change, everyone can enter the Demon Subduing Division’s System. In addition to designated missions, you can also independently choose to accept missions. After each mission, there will be an evaluation of whether you met the standards. Once you reach a certain number of successful missions, you will be promoted again.”

“Not only are the five Ranks of ‘Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu’ promoted this way, but subsequent Commanders and even Grand Commanders are also promoted this way.”

With this explanation, everyone understood.

To get promoted, one must accept missions, perform them well, and the Demon Subduing Division will naturally evaluate the performance. Once a certain number of successful missions are accumulated, one will be promoted.

Lu Ze suddenly asked, “Then, are the missions only about slaying demons?”

Pang Cheng was slightly startled. He didn’t expect Lu Ze to speak, but he quickly reacted, thought for a moment, and shook his head. “Not necessarily, but most are about slaying demons. There are also some about slaying or capturing some renegade humans, but these types of missions should only be accessible to Little Commanders and above. I have never even seen them.”

Lu Ze nodded, having no other questions.

The others also asked various questions about things they wanted to understand, and Pang Cheng answered each one in detail.

By noon, everyone had no more questions.

Pang Cheng nodded. “Since everyone has no other questions, let’s talk about your last mission. Please hand in the chips from your last mission.”

As soon as this was said, everyone understood that Pang Cheng was referring to the chips placed on their weapons, which could record the Rank of demons they had slain.

Everyone had Spiritual Artifacts for storage, so these items were naturally kept close by.

One by one, they took them out. Pang Cheng was about to go down and collect them individually.

Suddenly, Xu Lan reached out and stopped Pang Cheng, smiling brightly. “You’ve been talking for so long, you must be tired. I’ll handle this.”

Pang Cheng was silent for a moment, then nodded.

Xu Lan collected everyone’s chips. As she walked up to Lu Ze, she heard a snickering voice. “Qin Wan, you say, with so many of our chips collected, will only Young Master Lu’s chip malfunction?”

The voice belonged to Fu Liang.

Qin Wan, of course, knew what Fu Liang was going to say, but she was happy to play along. “Oh? How so?”

Fu Liang pointed at Xu Lan, chuckling. “Look at this jerk. She’s naturally annoying. She came in today with a deathly pale face, and now she’s being so obsequious. Something out of the ordinary, there must be an idiot. I’ll bet you ten bags of spicy strips that this jerk definitely wants to play dirty and secretly tamper with Young Master Lu’s scores!”
