91: The majesty of the stone statue
"What's coming?" Su Ze frowned as he looked at him.
The man didn't feel like a normal person to Su Ze; both he and his tamed beast exuded a sense of madness.
The wild boar whose horn Su Ze had broken suddenly scrambled up from the ground. Although blood was still seeping from the fracture, it felt no pain; instead, its ferocity was further stimulated.
"Beast Spirit Weaponization!"
The wild boar let out a furious roar, unwilling to be controlled, but ultimately could not escape the power of the contract and was transformed into a helmet worn on the master's head.
"Boar Charge!"
His attack was quite simple: he bent down, aimed the helmet on his head at the enemy, and then violently accelerated into a charge.
This was the first time Su Ze had seen such an attack method, and he was curious about its power, so he didn't meet it head-on, opting instead to dodge the blow by stepping aside.
He slammed his head hard into an iron streetlamp pole by the roadside, one as thick as a man.
Accompanied by a loud clang, a huge dent was instantly created in the streetlamp pole, burying his entire head inside.
However, after pressing his hands against both sides and forcefully pulling his head out, he found that the top of his head hadn't sustained the slightest damage.
"What a hard head!" Su Ze couldn't help but exclaim in admiration as he watched.
But while the head was tough, this method of attack was still too clumsy.
Su Ze had easily dodged it just now.
But as the opponent adjusted his posture, preparing to charge again, Su Ze decided not to dodge this time.
He stood still in place until the enemy's attack was about to land on him.
Only then did a shield suddenly appear in his hand. He lowered his center of gravity, stabilized his stance, and braced the bottom edge of the shield against the ground.
This collision sound was louder than before, but the void spirit shield in Su Ze's hand was not an ordinary streetlamp.
Su Ze was knocked back a step or two by the impact, while the man froze in place, then tumbled headfirst to the ground, unconscious.
Clearly, even the toughest head had its limits.
Just as Su Ze was about to reach out and remove the man's mask, four or five more Beast Tamers in similar attire suddenly rushed out from the surroundings and attacked him.
"They all came? Were they trying to ambush me? Good, I'll just deal with all of you!"
These Beast Tamers were of intermediate strength, around level thirty or forty, not much different from the Great Xia Spirit Guards.
The reason they were able to injure the Great Xia Spirit Guards of the Thirteenth Detachment was partly due to insufficient preparation.
The other reason was related to their state of madness. When levels were equal, those who felt no pain and feared no death were clearly superior.
But that was all there was to it; they couldn't be considered truly powerful opponents for Su Ze.
This didn't mean the Great Xia Spirit Guards were weak; it was simply because Su Ze's progress was too rapid, and he could now barely be called a master himself.
Moreover, the Thirteenth Squad was ultimately just the periphery of the Great Xia Spirit Guards; in front of the true core members, Su Ze still fell short.
"But Sun Hao and the others are already starting to fall behind. Not only can they not assist me, but they might even become a burden..."
"It seems I need to find a way to enhance their strength!"
Su Ze thought of the gold-rank monster beast egg he had recently acquired. Although he didn't value it highly himself, it was still extremely rare for other Spirit Guards.
"But I can't just give it to them casually. They must earn merit first, and exchange it for contribution points!"
While Su Ze was finalizing his plan, the men had already surrounded him, trapping him in the center.
Su Ze remained calm. With a shield in one hand and a saber in the other, he showcased the results of his training over the past few days.
Opportunities for life-and-death combat where he didn't have to hold back were rare.
After some fighting, although Su Ze firmly held the advantage, the enemies had the numerical superiority, making it impossible for him to defeat them all quickly.
Furthermore, as time passed, Su Ze was starting to feel tired, yet these crazed individuals seemed to grow more energetic the longer they fought, showing no signs of fatigue.
"This is not good..."
Just as he considered retreating, Sun Hao led the rest of the Great Xia Spirit Guards, charging over in force.
"Captain! We can't let you fight alone!"
"That's right! These bastards injured several of our brothers by relying on their numbers. Now it's our turn to get revenge!"
When dozens, nearly a hundred, Great Xia Spirit Guards rushed in, the situation instantly reversed: the siege became a counter-siege.
"Captain, leave this place to us!"
"Exactly, you just go rest on the side!"
Dealing with five people certainly didn't require everyone to attack at once.
The excess personnel isolated the battlefield on the periphery to prevent further damage to the surroundings.
With their addition, the masked Beast Tamers were instantly suppressed.
However, one person unleashed their potential, broke through the encirclement, and fled into the distance.
"You guys focus on the others and try to capture them alive. I'll take care of this one!"
After giving the instruction, Su Ze gave chase.
The man was very fast, and he seemed to have broken free from his previous state and regained his senses, desperately running away, but not so fast that Su Ze couldn't catch him.
Riding on the Shadow Moon Wolf King's back, he continuously closed the distance between himself and the target.
"Where do you think you're going!"
The Wolf King made a sudden leap, jumping right in front of the man, forcing him to stop running.
By this time, the two had run outside Beishan City, where the surroundings were barren land.
"Run? Why would I run?" the masked man said calmly, without a hint of panic in his voice.
Seeing this, Su Ze wasn't surprised. He smiled and said, "You wanted to lure me out of the city, and now I'm here. So, who are you? Jiang Sheng or Jiang Liu?"
The man didn't answer, but instead said, "You figured that out, yet you still dared to follow? Who gave you the courage? Xiao Sheng's statue? I doubt it will be fast enough to save you!"
"That's not necessarily true!"
The masked man attacked the moment he finished speaking, unwilling to waste time or leave a potential threat.
A powerful pressure bore down, allowing Su Ze to confirm his identity almost instantly.
This was an opponent Su Ze was far from capable of defeating right now!
But Su Ze simply looked straight ahead, staring at the incoming masked man.
He held his right hand in a loose grip, bent backward, and assumed a strange posture, as if preparing to throw a javelin.
The moment the masked man rushed forward, Su Ze violently threw his arm out.
At this moment, Su Ze simultaneously had two fields of vision: one was his own, watching the masked man in front of him, and the other was the perspective of the Stone Statue at the entrance of the Association.
At the same time, under everyone's astonished gaze, the Stone Statue of Xiao Sheng at the entrance of the Beast Tamer Association also assumed the exact same javelin-throwing posture as Su Ze.
Su Ze's vision provided the target lock, and then the statue violently hurled the azure dragon halberd it held.
The statue itself violently pushed off the ground, flying up to rush over.
The powerful wind generated upon its flight even lifted the skirts of several young women nearby, a truly magnificent sight.
Meanwhile, the masked man had just rushed right up to Su Ze.
The fierce wind was already whistling past his ears. Before he could react, he was violently smashed into the ground by the massive azure dragon halberd, the tip of which pierced into his shoulder.
Su Ze maintained the loose grip with his right hand and subtly twisted it.
Following his movement, the azure dragon halberd twisted inside the masked man's wound.
Enduring the pain, he struggled to pull out the azure dragon halberd. He glared fiercely at Su Ze, but sensing an even greater power approaching, he hastily fled before the next attack could be launched.
"Good thing you ran fast."
Su Ze waved his hand, and the stone azure dragon halberd flew into his grasp.
Holding a massive halberd several stories high felt extremely strange.
However, the azure dragon halberd contained a portion of Xiao Sheng's power, so Su Ze maintained the strange posture for a while longer.
He waited until the Stone Statue arrived and confirmed the danger was gone before releasing the azure dragon halberd, allowing it to return to the statue.
Su Ze looked up at the statue. This was merely a clone of Xiao Sheng, yet the weapon thrown from dozens of miles away had severely wounded an enemy he couldn't defeat.
And he was still far from being an opponent for Divine Beasts.
If Su Ze wanted to possess the power to protect himself in the future, he still had a long and arduous road ahead.
