127: Chapter 127 The Undead in the Ice Coffin

Two days later, early morning.

The Floating City had flown approximately 1,500 kilometers.

Xu Qin was currently in the Lords Hall, pondering the Hetero-smelting recipe list for the myriad race spirit furnace. It had to be said, the myriad race spirit furnace was really fun; it could always synthesize some strange and peculiar things.

Ding!

The command panel suddenly popped up a notification.

[Reconnaissance unit report: An anomaly exists in the area ahead.]

Xu Qin closed the interface and opened the reconnaissance report. It was information sent back by a Skeleton Vulture. The report was very short:

[230 kilometers ahead, a large-scale abnormal climate zone has been detected.]

[Regional characteristics: Covered by an eternal blizzard, approximately 800 kilometers in diameter.]

[Temperature: Extremely low.]

[Ecology: No traces of biological activity detected within a 500-kilometer radius.]

[Core area: A rectangular energy source exists.]

Rectangular?

Xu Qin frowned and opened the Vulture's perspective. Because the Vulture was currently at the edge of the blizzard, the image was a bit blurry. There was no help for it; that pile of little bones really couldn't withstand such strong winds. But it was still barely clear enough to see.

Inside the frame, he saw a vast, white ice field. There were no living creatures. But in the very center of the ice field sat a massive ice-sealed coffin. Visually estimated to be over thirty meters tall.

This coffin was constructed entirely of translucent, deep blue ice crystals, its surface covered in dense, intricate runes. Around the coffin was a large crater with a diameter of one hundred meters. It looked just like the kind created by a meteorite impact.

Xu Qin zoomed in on the image. On the front of the coffin, there were a few faint runes. They looked somewhat familiar.

"I feel like I've seen these runes somewhere before."

Xu Qin rubbed his chin, trying to recall seriously. Yes, he hadn't misread it; he really had seen these symbols. He just couldn't remember where he had seen them for the moment.

Xu Qin stood there with his arms crossed, frowning as he scoured his memory. A few seconds later, his eyes widened instantly.

"Holy crap! So that's what it is!"

He turned and ran toward the Combat Readiness Platform, looking at the runes on the Resurrection Platform. After repeated comparisons and confirmation, he could be certain that these were Undead Runes. Although he didn't know what the runes meant.

Xu Qin became excited, his thoughts racing. A coffin, Undead text—that meant... inside such a huge coffin was an Undead? And a powerful Undead capable of altering the terrain within a 500-kilometer radius!

Xu Qin opened the command panel.

"Tian Ming!"

Tian Ming floated out from the side corridor of the hall. "Master, please give your orders."

"Come and sense this thing."

Xu Qin dragged the Vulture's feed into Tian Ming's status bar. Within Tian Ming's hollow eye sockets, dark purple soul fire flickered slightly. Three seconds later, Tian Ming looked up.

"Master."

"The thing inside that coffin has been confirmed... it is an Undead."

"And, it is extremely powerful."

Xu Qin nodded, signaling for Tian Ming to continue.

"The concentration of death aura it emits far exceeds the limits of my sensory range."

"I can only confirm that it is an Undead-type creature."

"But specifically what it is... I cannot make it out."

"Those runes are sealing runes, used to suppress the aura leaking from it."

Suppressing the leak?

Xu Qin couldn't help but laugh out loud. Good grief. Even after being suppressed, the range is still five hundred kilometers? If it weren't suppressed, how strong would it be?

The more he thought about it, the more excited he became, and he directly opened the Lords Hall function list. A skill that had been unlocked for a long time might finally be able to show its value. That's right, what Xu Qin thought of was the [Undead Summoning Order]!

[Effect: Initiate a summons against a neutral Undead-type monster within a 500-meter radius. The lower the target's HP, the higher the success rate of the summons. When HP is below 5%, the success rate of the summons increases to 90%.]

This skill had never found a place to be used before. There was no help for it; the opponents he had encountered before were either Holy Spirits or Demon Spirits. Or just a bunch of small fry. That kind of trash could only be killed and converted. But now... a neutral, super-powerful Undead sealed in a coffin. Just lying there, fresh and... er, icy and waiting. Wasn't it just waiting for him?

Xu Qin licked his lips.

"Tian Ming."

"If I beat it down to critical health..."

"Do you think I can recruit it?"

Tian Ming's soul fire flickered for a few seconds.

"Replying to Master. If it is an Undead... the Summoning Order can take effect."

"But Master, the intensity of that thing's aura..."

Tian Ming paused, then said, "It is stronger than Bone Dragon."

What? Stronger than Bone Dragon?

Xu Qin shivered. He wasn't afraid; he was excited. Bone Dragon was a Mythical-grade hero. Attack power over ten thousand, HP in the millions. And this Undead was stronger than Bone Dragon? Then what the hell kind of grade would that be? Super Mythical?

Xu Qin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"Let's go, come with me to see that ice field coffin."

"Yes!"

Tian Ming received the order.

Hum!

The engines of the Floating City erupted with a heaven-shaking roar, rushing toward the edge of that eternal blizzard. Xu Qin stood on the Watchtower and opened the command panel.

He now had a whole group of heroes, including Bone Dragon, Python Emperor, Minotaur, Blade Guard, Jackal Hunter, Chuan Yun, Tietang, and Shadow. His troop types included Liches, Bone Dragons, Skeletal Pythons, Stitched Bone Beasts, Elite Archers, and Elite Musketeers, as well as Sand Jackals and Minotaurs. Not to mention various army-wide buffs.

"Even if there really is a Great Demon King inside, I have to use the Summoning Order on you."

"Of course, if even this lineup of mine can't take it down..."

"Then... just pretend I didn't say anything."

Thirty minutes later, the Floating City would arrive at the edge of the blizzard zone. He opened the map and looked at that rectangular marker, thinking about the strategy. In any case, there was one core principle that could not change: he could only beat it to critical health, not kill it. To be honest, this was harder than just killing it.

"Must control the damage output," Xu Qin muttered. He thought about it and crossed Bone Dragon off the sortie list. He didn't want that guy to breathe dragon fire and one-shot the target.

"Scout it out first."

"After seeing that thing's panel, then determine the tactics."

Xu Qin closed his eyes, waiting for the Floating City to approach the target.

Twenty-eight minutes later.

The Floating City arrived at the outer perimeter of the blizzard.

Xu Qin stood on the Watchtower, looking ahead.

All he could see was a white curtain. The cold air emanating from within the wall of wind and snow caused a thin layer of ice to form on the source crystal shell of the Floating City.

"Master."

Tian Ming floated behind him, "After entering the blizzard zone, the Sand Rats will be unable to execute reconnaissance missions."

Xu Qin waved his hand.

"Doesn't matter, we have the shield."

"This time, we're driving straight in to fight."

He opened the command panel and looked at the city defense shield.

[Current Durability: 1,000,000 / 1,000,000]

Rumble!

The massive Floating City, protected by an orange light shield, plunged headlong into the blizzard. Visibility instantly dropped. Within a few minutes, a thick layer of ice had formed on the surface of the shield. On the command panel, the external temperature instantly dropped to minus 130 degrees. But the shield's durability... the value had only just dropped to 99.98% before instantly recovering to 100%. The rate of reduction from the blizzard was no different from a tickle to a shield with one million durability.
