85: Being threatened
“Is this spider silk really that powerful?”
Little Green Snake looked at the snow-white spider silk in Shadow Spider’s hand and suddenly retreated a meter away.
It was just a small snake; if it rashly made contact, wouldn’t it also become Shadow Spider’s food?
It was scared.
“Take it! What are you waiting for, you useless thing!”
Shadow Spider saw Little Green Snake’s cowardly appearance and was furious.
This spider silk was something she had painstakingly accumulated, and this little long worm was actually disdaining it.
Shadow Spider had several different silk glands specifically for producing different types of spider silk; this type of confusing silk was the most difficult to produce.
Each time, it consumed a large amount of Qi, and because there wasn’t enough, she had spit out some more last night, and now she still felt as if her body had been hollowed out.
Little Green Snake looked at the spider silk in Shadow Spider’s hand, then lowered its head to look at its own tail, looking very innocent.
“Shadow Spider, sir, I don’t have hands.”
As soon as Little Green Snake’s timid words came out, Shadow Spider almost laughed in anger.
“If you don’t have hands, can’t you hold it with your mouth? If you procrastinate any longer and mess things up, and if Blood Bat, sir, blames you, you won’t be able to bear it!”
Little Green Snake flinched; it was truly afraid of Blood Bat’s unpredictable temper, but this Shadow Spider seemed relatively stable emotionally.
Little Green Snake cast a pleading look at the two demons, Rat Spirit and Rat Chestnut, but unfortunately, both of them had their backs to him now.
They were supposedly companions with a common faith, yet when disaster struck, they each flew their separate ways!
Little Green Snake smiled outwardly, but inwardly, it was bitter.
“Shadow Spider, sir, my magic power is low, so I definitely can’t resist your spider silk. How about…”
Little Green Snake originally intended to push its luck and think of a way to avoid touching the spider silk, but before it could finish speaking, a strong gust of wind struck it, and its body involuntarily flew backward, landing heavily.
In the last second before passing out, a thought flashed through Little Green Snake’s walnut-sized brain: “I didn’t expect Blood Bat to have such a bad temper; sure enough, anything with ‘blood’ in its name isn’t good.”
Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit heard the sound behind them, looked back, and only relaxed when they saw that Little Green Snake had merely fainted.
“Shadow Spider, why are you wasting words with them? Just do it directly; don’t waste my time.”
Blood Bat’s face was foul; he stepped forward, snatched the spider silk from Shadow Spider’s hand, and without explanation, wrapped it around the heads of all Four Demons.
Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit: “I didn’t expect that even by playing deaf and mute, we still couldn’t escape… What can we do, what can we do!”
As soon as the spider silk touched their skin, Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit felt a chilling power spread, their heads instantly became dizzy, and their bodies became somewhat uncontrollable, actually staggering a few steps sideways.
Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit secretly cried out, “Oh no!” But after only a few steps, a warm current suddenly surged through their bodies, and at the same time, their minds instantly cleared.
It was the Amulet bestowed by Lord Chuping!
Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit secretly breathed a sigh of relief, continuing to feign a completely bewildered andSilly appearance, their eyes vacant as they swayed their bodies with that force.
Shadow Spider saw this and snorted coldly: “Is that all they’re capable of, hmph!”
Blood Bat impatiently glanced at Shadow Spider, “Less talk, quickly send them off to do the task. If we miss the time, neither of us can handle the consequences.”
After speaking, Blood Bat then turned to look at Rat Chestnut, Rat Spirit, and the other demons, his eyes full of malice, “Listen well, you useless lot, take this spider silk to Chang Sheng Village and lure all the children in the village to Black Rat Mountain. Not a single one is allowed to be missed. If you fail, all the rat demons in Black Rat Mountain will be buried with them!”
Rat Spirit’s body trembled, and just as he was about to beg for mercy, Rat Chestnut secretly tugged at his sleeve, speaking first in that stiff, seemingly controlled tone.
“Yes… this humble one respectfully obeys Blood Bat, sir’s, command…”
Rat Spirit was carrying Little Spider Spirit, who still didn’t know what was happening.
Rat Chestnut stepped forward and grabbed the unconscious Little Green Snake in his hand.
The Four Demons slowly walked down the mountain. As they were about to exit the mountain gate, Rat Chestnut looked back.
In front of them was their faith, and behind them were their descendants.
Rat Chestnut’s heart was filled with towering hatred, but his face increasingly pretended to be utterly bewildered and enchanted. He slightly swayed his head, as if trying hard to understand Blood Bat’s instructions, but in reality, he was observing the surroundings, looking for possible opportunities to escape.
Shadow Spider looked at their foolish appearance, a slight smirk on her lips.
“Hmph, I don’t know what Blood Bat, sir, sees in you. I just see a bunch of good-for-nothings. I hope you don’t mess things up, otherwise, Black Rat Mountain will truly be drenched in blood.”
Under the coercion of Blood Bat and Shadow Spider, Rat Chestnut, Rat Spirit, and the other demons feigned ignorance and staggered towards Chang Sheng Village. Along the way, Rat Spirit leaned over to Rat Chestnut’s ear and whispered.
“Husband, are we really going to do such an immoral thing? This won’t do! Lord Chuping will strike us down.”
Rat Chestnut lowered his voice, his gaze firm.
“Of course not, but we have to find a way to protect the cubs of Black Rat Mountain without harming Chang Sheng Village. Let’s stay calm for now and act according to the situation when we get there.”
Although he said to act according to the situation, Rat Chestnut was very nervous.
Shadow Spider and Blood Bat were watching them from the outskirts of the village, not giving them any opportunity to maneuver.
Under the gaze of Shadow Spider and Blood Bat’s ten eyes, Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit slowly crossed the boundary line of Chang Sheng Village.
Nothing happened.
Rat Chestnut, still unwilling to give up, turned back and bowed to Shadow Spider and Blood Bat, trying to curry favor.
“Shadow Spider, sir, Blood Bat, sir, look, as long as the villagers don’t discover us, there’s no danger. Why don’t you both come along?”
“I believe with your strength, these villagers will definitely not discover you.”
Rat Chestnut secretly pondered in his heart, and he really did come up with a good idea—dragging Shadow Spider and Blood Bat to their deaths with them.
As long as Shadow Spider and Blood Bat dared to enter the village, when Lord Chuping’s divine lightning struck, Shadow Spider and Blood Bat would surely die beyond resurrection, and they could hide in the village and feign death.
As for the cubs of Black Rat Mountain, he hoped that after Shadow Spider and Blood Bat died, Blood Bat would temporarily forget about this small matter.
Unfortunately, Rat Chestnut’s plan was very good, but Shadow Spider and Blood Bat didn’t fall for it at all.
Blood Bat merely waved his hand, and the two rats were pushed far away.
At this moment, thunderclouds rolled in the sky, and Blood Bat seemed to be wary of something, not directly injuring the two rats.
After Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit left, Shadow Spider’s eyes flickered, and a shadow clone separated from her body, merging with Rat Spirit’s shadow. Seeing this, Blood Bat merely frowned and said nothing.

Rat Chestnut and Rat Spirit were completely unaware of this. They ran a long distance in one breath before stopping and collapsing onto the ground.
“Husband, those two Devil Heads shouldn’t be able to hear us now, right?”
“Sister Ling’er, what do we do now? You decide; I’ll listen to you.”
