60: Trinity 1
The faint light before dawn spilled across the ravaged battlefield.
The Fallen Ancient God’s body peeled away like broken pottery, its black and red flesh turning to ash before it even hit the ground. He looked down in disbelief at the large hole in his chest, a gurgling sound escaping his throat: “No… impossible… the Spirit of the Plane was clearly…”
“Sealed in the Tai Ling Ancient Clan’s Forbidden Ground?” The silver-haired youth softly finished his sentence, casually discarding the crushed black heart in his hand. “Yes, thanks to Mother’s sacrifice.”
He turned around, his face gradually becoming clear in the morning light—he looked about eighteen or nineteen years old, with Xiao Yan’s firmness in his brows and eyes, and Xiao Bing’s coldness. His silver hair cascaded like a waterfall to his waist, and a faint seven-colored halo enveloped his body.
Xiao Yan and Xiao Bing stood rooted to the spot, the power of the plane of origin within them resonating strongly with this youth, confirming his identity without words.
“You are…” Xiao Yan’s throat tightened.
“The Spirit of the Plane.” The youth smiled slightly, starlight shimmering in his eyes, “And your younger brother, though we’ve never met.”
Xiao Bing took a step forward, his ice-blue pupils contracting slightly: “Mother divided the plane of origin into three back then?”
The youth nodded, his silver hair gently swaying in the wind: “Ice, Fire, and Spirit; the trinity is the complete plane of origin.” He looked at the dissipating remnants of the Fallen Ancient God in the distance, “This fellow was sealed by the complete plane of origin back then, which is why he was so terrified when he saw me.”
The battlefield was silent. The allied forces watched from afar, not daring to approach these three existences radiating terrifying aura. Only Elder Yao’s dying figure lay in the center of the camp, unattended.
Xiao Yan suddenly remembered something, his face changing dramatically: “Teacher!” Without asking further, he turned and rushed towards the camp.
Xiao Bing and the Spirit of the Plane followed closely. As the three passed, the injured Disciples of the allied forces made way, their eyes filled with awe and curiosity.
Elder Yao lay on a makeshift straw mat, his face ashen, his chest barely showing any rise and fall. The remains of Elder Gu Yuan and Xuan Guang Venerable were placed nearby, covered with plain white linen.
Xiao Yan knelt beside Elder Yao, his trembling fingers resting on the old man’s wrist pulse, his face immediately growing even more grim: “The Soul Origin is almost exhausted…”
“Let me.” The Spirit of the Plane said softly, squatting on the other side of Elder Yao. He pressed his hands over Elder Yao’s chest, and a seven-colored stream of light surged from his palms, seeping into the old man’s body.
Xiao Bing was not idle either; he took out the ice soul mirror and suspended it above Elder Yao’s forehead. The mirror surface projected a soft blue light that enveloped his head: “First, stabilize the Soul.”
Xiao Yan, meanwhile, channeled a wisp of pure Chaos power into Elder Yao’s Meridians, carefully repairing the various injuries. The combined efforts of the trinity had an immediate effect—Elder Yao’s complexion gradually regained its color, and his breathing became steady and strong.
“There’s no immediate danger to his life now.” The Spirit of the Plane withdrew his hands and stood up, “But the Soul depletion will take time to recover.”
Xiao Yan let out a long sigh, then finally had the presence of mind to carefully examine this sudden “younger brother.” Up close, the Spirit of the Plane’s face was even clearer; faint strands of green and blue hair were visible among his silver locks, and a galaxy seemed to flow in the depths of his pupils.
“What’s your name?” Xiao Yan couldn’t help but ask.
The Spirit of the Plane blinked: “Mother called me ‘Ling Xiao,’ but during those years in the Forbidden Ground, the Tai Ling Ancient Clan Elder who guarded me called me ‘That Lord.’” His tone was light, yet it made Xiao Yan’s heart tighten—what kind of loneliness must it have been to be imprisoned in the Forbidden Ground for tens of millions of years?
Xiao Bing clearly thought of this as well, a hint of heartache flashing in his ice-blue eyes: “Ling Xiao… Mother, she…”
“Mother loved us very much.” Ling Xiao interrupted him, his voice soft yet firm, “She transformed herself into a Seal, protecting me and delaying the loss of the plane of origin’s power.” He raised his hand, and a small ice heart phantom appeared on his fingertip, “This is the last gift she left me.”
The three fell silent for a moment, then Xiao Yan suddenly remembered something: “Wait, since the Fallen Ancient God has been eliminated, why hasn’t the spatial collapse of the Source World stopped?”
He pointed into the distance—the sky was still covered in cracks, the ground occasionally trembled, and spatial turbulence was visible everywhere.
Ling Xiao’s expression grew serious: “Because the Fallen Ancient God was just a Puppet; the true mastermind is still out there.” He pointed to a dark crack at the highest point in the sky, “See that? That’s a passage to the ‘Chaotic Sea,’ where the Extraterrestrial Evil Clan originates.”
Xiao Bing frowned: “So the battle isn’t over yet?”
“Far from it.” Ling Xiao shook his head, “And…” He hesitated for a moment, “To completely repair the Source World, the plane of origin must fully awaken. And that means…”
“The three of us must permanently undergo Fusion.” Xiao Yan finished his sentence, his tone surprisingly calm.
A moment of silence. All three understood what this meant—after Fusion, they would no longer exist as independent individuals; only a completely new consciousness would be born. In some ways, this was more cruel than sacrificing one person.
“Let’s return to the Tai Ling Ancient Clan’s Forbidden Ground first.” Ling Xiao broke the silence, “Mother left all her memories there, and perhaps… there are other ways.”
