27: A demon brings disaster to the world
At the same time, in the Great Hall of the Royal Palace within the Royal City of Dachu, Yang Jian, for the first time ever, sat on the Dragon Throne, his face solemn, his eyes blank as he looked at the ministers below.
“My beloved ministers, what should we do?”
His only response was a period of silence…
Seeing this, Prime Minister Ouyang Xin quickly stepped forward to mediate, cupping his hands and saying, “Your Majesty, at this moment, we can only send someone to the Immortal Sect to ask for help.”
“Yes,” the Minister of Rites echoed, “That demon is causing chaos everywhere. If we don’t invite an Immortal to slay it soon, I’m afraid all the people of our Dachu will be eaten by it.”
“Ah!” Yang Jian trembled, looking at the Minister of Revenue, “What is the current situation?”
The Minister of Revenue thought for a moment, then cupped his hands and replied, “Reporting to Your Majesty, there are currently reports of demons appearing in all five prefectures of Dachu. Among them… among them, Jingzhou, where the Royal City is located, is in the most serious situation.”
“Just… just today, news came.”
“Within the Royal City… also… also appeared mummified corpses…”
“What?!” Yang Jian collapsed onto the Dragon Throne, and the assembled officials looked at each other, with the more timid ones already unable to stand steadily.
“Quick, quick, quick!”
“Quickly send people to invite an Immortal!”
Yang Jian shouted with great effort.
In the Crown Prince's Eastern Palace, Ao Ye was chatting with a palace maid.
“Hey, young lady, do you know about Dragons?”
The palace maid nodded, “I know, yes.”
“Oh, really?” Ao Ye smiled as he looked at the palace maid, “Come on, tell me, what do Dragons look like?”
“Hmm…” The palace maid thought for a moment, then slowly said, “My father told me that a Dragon is just a very long, large python.”
Ao Ye’s smile gradually vanished, “What the hell does your father know?!”
The palace maid looked at Ao Ye angrily, “I won’t allow you to speak of my father like that!” With that, she prepared to hit Ao Ye with her hand.
Ao Ye raised his hand and directly caught the palace maid’s hand, “Hahaha, would you really dare to hit me?”
The palace maid, seeing how reserved Ao Ye had been when he first arrived, had thought he was a scholarly Young Master. She hadn’t expected him to be so dissolute now. She pulled her hand back and walked away, “I’m never playing with you again, you’re so annoying.”
“Don’t go, I was wrong!” Just as Ao Ye was about to chase after her, his mind suddenly sharpened, and his eyes looked towards the west of the Royal City.
In the West City, in a secluded courtyard, a newlywed couple lay on the kang, whispering sweet nothings.
“My dear wife, don’t worry, I won’t let you suffer any grievances in the future.”
“My dear husband, you are so good.”
Just as the man was about to embrace the woman to sleep, he saw a pair of red eyes staring at him.
“Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!”
The man screamed in terror. The woman beside him turned her head and saw a humanoid, snake-headed monster standing in front of the kang.
“Ah ah ah ah ah ah!”
The woman was so frightened she fainted. The man retreated repeatedly, and when he hit the wall, he knew there was no escape. He immediately knelt on the ground and pleaded bitterly, “Monster… oh no, Brother Yao, don’t kill me, don’t kill me!”
“Please, I have… above…”
“Pfft!”
The snake-head lunged forward and bit the man’s head directly. After struggling for a breath, the man went still.
The fangs on the snake-head pierced the man’s head. The man’s corpse instantly shriveled, becoming a mummified corpse.
Just as the snake-head was about to bite the woman, a figure appeared beside it.
“Stop!” Ao Ye roared.
The snake-headed monster was startled, turning sharply to look at Ao Ye. It recoiled a few steps. Feeling that Ao Ye was not of the Human Race, its guard relaxed considerably. “Brother Yao, this woman is yours to eat.”
The Yao Race can only fully transform into human form after achieving a Breakthrough to the Foundation Establishment Stage.
“Hmph,” Ao Ye snorted coldly.
“Our Dragon Clan is a high-ranking Yao Race. How could we do such a lowly thing?”
The snake-head was startled again, not expecting this demon in front of him to be of the Dragon Clan. He said fawningly, “So it’s an esteemed member of the Dragon Clan. This humble one is a python spirit. Millions of years ago, we were even relatives!”
“Get lost! Who the hell is related to you?!”
“Don’t you dare disgust me!”
Ao Ye felt a surge of irritation upon hearing “python” and a murderous intent arose in his eyes.
The snake-head looked at the instantly enraged Ao Ye, somewhat bewildered. Thinking he hadn’t explained himself clearly, he quickly clarified:
“We really are relatives! We even have a family tree! And, everyone says that our python clan resembles your Dragon Clan!”
“Ah ah ah ah ah!”
“I resemble your mother’s *!”
Ao Ye gathered primal Qi in his hand and slapped the snake-head directly.
“Boom…” The snake-head flew out, its head separating from its body.
Ao Ye still didn’t feel satisfied. He picked up the snake-head’s corpse and went to a pit in the outskirts, which was full of wild animal and livestock excrement.
Ao Ye threw it forcefully, flinging the snake-head into the cave. “Damn it, such an ugly species dares to claim kinship with our Dragon Clan!”
However, he then asked himself inwardly, do Dragons really resemble pythons?
He then went to a small stream, and under the moonlight, transformed into his true form—a black Flood Dragon lying low in the stream.
Looking at his reflection in the water, after a 360-degree, comprehensive, and flawless comparison, he found that he didn’t resemble a python at all. “Hmph, I told you so, how could it be possible?”
He then transformed back into human form and left, satisfied.
In the ancient forest of the northern region of Dachu, an enormous python opened its eyes, breathing heavily, and stared coldly towards the south.
A moment later, the python directly ripped through the forest, gliding through the air, roaring hysterically.
Fortunately, this was a no-man’s land, with no inhabitants for hundreds of kilometers around.
The black giant python flew rapidly towards the south, appearing like an enormous spaceship in the night, its passage blotting out the sky and moon.
Yuzhou, Dongyang Commandery, one of the three northern prefectures of Dachu.
Youbei County, Liu Family Village.
At night, a little girl lay in her grandmother’s arms, counting the stars in the sky.
“One star.”
“Two stars.”
“Three stars.”
“Four stars.”
“Five stars.”
“Six stars.”
“Eight stars.”
“Nine stars.”
“…………”
“Grandma, what comes after nine?” the little girl asked in a childish voice.
“My grandchild, ten comes after nine.”
“Oh~”
“Ten stars.”
“Wow~”
The little girl pointed at the huge black shadow flying across the sky, her mouth wide open, unable to speak for a long time.
The old grandmother, noticing her granddaughter had gone silent, looked down and saw the girl curiously gazing upwards.
The old grandmother looked up and saw nothing, thinking her granddaughter was sleepy, so she carried the girl inside to sleep.

Ao Ye returned to the East Palace. After many days of familiarity, he gradually integrated into the life of the Human Race.
He started drinking tea and wine, and also learned from Yang Yun, trying to flirt, though his technique wasn’t very good.
Seeing that the Yang Yuns hadn’t returned yet, he grew bolder. He walked over to a palace maid by the door, leaned casually against a pillar, and whistled.
“Whoosh…”
“My lady, do you have plans tonight?”
However, the palace maid didn’t even glance at him, walking directly away and muttering, “What a scummy Dragon.”
