7: Chapter 7 is full of pitfalls.
As the workday approached, everyone arrived at the office one after another.
Many people hadn't noticed yesterday that they had a new colleague. Manager Liu hadn't held a brief introductory meeting for him either.
However, Su Nange felt this was for the best; it would be embarrassing if he were fired again after only two days. This wasn't the first time he had encountered such a situation.
But it's impossible to work at a company without communicating with others. Thus, Su Nange took his first step in socializing at this insurance company.
He went to the Claims Department's workstations and found a young man who was buried in organizing documents.
Su Nange placed a cigarette on his desk and said, "Brother, I'm Xiao Su from the Corporate Client Department, I just started yesterday. Here's my ID badge."
The young man glanced at it and saw it was actually a Soft Huaxia. Only then did he look up at Su Nange.
He asked, "What do you need?"
Su Nange handed over a form and said, "I want to pull the claims data for these units, both settled and pending."
The young man took it and looked it over, frowning slightly.
Their insurance company wasn't large, and there weren't many claims personnel. Therefore, they still had a certain understanding of these corporate clients.
However, the young man shook his head and said, "I'm just a junior staffer and don't have the authority. You'll have to find our manager." After speaking, he pointed to an office behind him.
Su Nange looked at his badge; his name was Wang Fei. Su Nange smiled and said, "Brother Fei, how about helping me with an introduction?"
After saying that, he placed a whole pack of cigarettes on Wang Fei's desk.
Wang Fei nodded sheepishly and replied, "Brother, you're too kind. I'll take you there!"
With that, Su Nange met the second leader of this company: the General Manager of the Claims Department, Yang Jian.
When Yang Jian saw someone coming, he looked up impatiently. "What do you want these things for? The workload is huge, okay? Our Claims Department is swamped right now."
Su Nange already knew that the Claims Department was under high pressure and that they liked to have a couple of smokes when they had the chance. Yesterday, he had observed that the people in the smoking area were mostly from the Claims Department.
So, Su Nange took out two packs of cigarettes from his pocket and placed them on Yang Jian's desk.
As a department head, Yang Jian didn't lack cigarettes. He smiled and said, "What, you've only been here a few days and you're already bribing me? I don't need this."
Having been a student union president, Su Nange's EQ couldn't be low. He also smiled and replied, "I know you and your team work hard, Manager Yang, but I really have no other choice. If I don't serve this client well, I'm afraid I won't have the chance to 'bribe' you again soon."
Yang Jian smiled, seeing that Su Nange seemed quite sincere, so he took the form and looked it over. Only then did he understand Su Nange's intention.
Indeed, if this company was lost, the impact on Liu Dong's department would certainly not be small.
Yang Jian asked curiously, "Wasn't Liu Dong handling this himself? It's been handed over to you now?"
Su Nange nodded.
Yang Jian warned, "Letting a rookie like you handle this—Liu Dong really has some nerve. This City Investment Company is not easy to deal with. Although they're a big client, their requirements are very high. Especially their new big beauty of a leader; she's very difficult to deal with."
Su Nange instantly felt that those two packs of cigarettes were well worth it! He knew that things definitely wouldn't be that simple.
However, Su Nange understood that there was no company without internal gossip and mutual conflicts.
Su Nange expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Manager Yang. Otherwise, I really wouldn't have known about these things."
Whether it was because he truly had a good first impression of Su Nange or because he suddenly felt the urge to vent, Yang Jian gestured for Su Nange to close the door.
Then, once Su Nange sat down, he continued, "Young man, I'm telling you this because you seem honest. Don't let your leader sell you out without even knowing it."
Su Nange said in surprise, "No way, Manager Liu seems like a pretty good person."
Yang Jian smiled disdainfully. "That's why I say you fresh graduates are too naive. Do you know why your Manager Liu has always kept such a big client in his own hands?"
Su Nange shook his head.
Yang Jian lowered his voice: "Young man, you don't understand our industry. Why should a small company like ours be able to handle a big account like City Investment Company? In this business, it's all about this."
Yang Jian extended two fingers and rubbed them together. Su Nange nodded as if he understood.
Yang Jian continued, "It turns out the leader at City Investment Company who was in charge of insurance went to prison because of that. That's why they sent over a beautiful female Vice President. Your Manager Liu lost his backer, and he's finally starting to panic."
"So, I reckon he's just looking for you to take the fall. Otherwise, if such a big client is lost, Liu Dong definitely won't be able to keep his position."
Su Nange appeared somewhat anxious: "Then Brother Yang, what should I do? You have to save me! I'll treat you to dinner!"
Yang Jian shook his head: "I can give you the data you want. As for anything else, there's not much I can help you with."
After saying that, Yang Jian operated the computer for a while, and a dense list of several pages was handed to Su Nange.
Su Nange took a look—good grief, they were all unresolved claim cases.
Yang Jian explained, "These claim cases have accumulated over the years. You know, it's not that our branch doesn't want to pay, it's just that we have provincial company leaders above us. When they audit cases, they don't care how big your client is. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't pass."
Su Nange still expressed his gratitude: "Thank you, Brother Yang. Tonight, I'll treat you and the brothers from the Claims Department to dinner!"
Yang Jian laughed: "You're a fresh graduate, how much salary do you even make? Save your money. If you have any claims issues, just come to me. If I can process it for you, I will."
Su Nange thanked him again: "Thank you so much, Brother Yang!"
Yang Jian smiled and waved his hand: "Go on!"
After leaving the room and returning to his workstation, Su Nange showed no unusual expression, but his heart was very cold.
He had already formed a rough analysis of the situation. Despite Yang Jian's friendliness, he actually had his own hidden motives, just like Liu Dong.
Liu Dong controlled the most profitable department in the company and held onto its biggest client. He must have made a lot of money privately over the years.
Therefore, there were many people who were envious of him, and Yang Jian was one of them.
The reason Yang Jian was so willing to help Su Nange was, firstly, so that when necessary, he could expose Liu Dong's service work over the years as only catering to superiors and ignoring those below.
With a backer, Liu Dong didn't care at all whether the subordinate units of City Investment Company actually received their payouts. The less paid out, the higher the profit margin, of course.
Secondly, Yang Jian also hoped to push forward the processing of some cases, at least to show a proactive attitude.
This way, when Liu Dong lost this project, he wouldn't be able to shift the blame to the Claims Department. And Su Nange could happen to serve as a witness.
Su Nange rested his head on his hand, sighing that this financial company was truly a difficult place to stay. He was now more and more able to empathize with Ye Tingting's hardships.
She was a girl surrounded by wolves who not only coveted her abilities but also her body. This damn society! I must become an elite and crush you all!
Su Nange was fortunate that he now had a unique way to make money. If everything went according to his plan, renewing the contract shouldn't be much of a problem.
Judging by what Zhou Wanqing said to him before she left that day, she wasn't unwilling to give him a chance. It was just that it wasn't time for him to go find her yet.
He had to finish all the prerequisite tasks before he could go meet her, the final BOSS.
Su Nange suddenly became excited again; challenges were what made things interesting!
After thinking this, he began to organize the data he had obtained from Yang Jian.
After enduring until the end of the workday, Su Nange quickly returned to his apartment and turned on his computer.
Right now, he really needed money. This money wasn't for himself; rather, he understood the essence of this society. As long as you have money, even ghosts will come to pave the way for you.
He moved very quickly today as more memories were awakened. While ensuring his own safety, he had found a path to fortune.
Su Nange hijacked another NPC's car but wasn't in a hurry to sell it. Because these common cars weren't worth much at all.
And the game's mechanics didn't allow for the sale of those flashy sports cars.
So, Su Nange opened the map and quickly arrived at a location. This place was near the Eclipse Towers in the northern part of Los Santos.
Su Nange looked up at the tall tower and recalled that he used to be one of the owners in this building. A two-story duplex structure with huge, unobstructed floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
Only the elite among the elite were worthy of living in this building.
But Su Nange was in no hurry; he would return sooner or later.
Right now, he was waiting for a certain vehicle to appear. This car was the highest-value vehicle that could be sold through the 'good citizen' hijacking mechanic.
Sure enough, after a short wait, a chrome-blue performance sedan slowly drove by. The vehicle wasn't moving fast, as if it were naturally designed to accommodate a good citizen like Su Nange.
Su Nange didn't hesitate and rushed forward to drag the driver out.
The driver was still defiant and happened to experience a few rounds of Su Nange's 'wild swing' combo. Eventually, he collapsed on the ground, losing both his person and his wealth.
The sound of sirens rang out again.
But Su Nange wasn't flustered at all. Because this place was not far from where cars were sold. As long as he wasn't in the sight of the Los Santos law enforcers, the vehicle could be driven directly into the garage, which would also immediately clear the flashing wanted stars.
Su Nange was very careful this time and didn't scratch a single bit of paint.
A surprising number appeared: selling this vehicle would net an amount of $17,200!
In front of the computer, Su Nange was almost crazy with joy.
Walking out of the dealership, Su Nange immediately took out his phone and clicked to deposit the money.
In reality, a pop-up window immediately appeared on his phone: 'Your account balance has changed. Overseas remittance received: 120,203 huaxia currency!'
Su Nange stood up again, holding his phone, and performed a waltz of love.
I'm rich! I'm rich! If this continues, what do I have to worry about? Contract renewals, jobs—to hell with them all! I won't go to work tomorrow, whatever happens!
However, after the surprise, Su Nange regained his composure.
No! What's the fun in just staying at home all the time! Isn't showing off and slapping faces in reality the most interesting thing?
You all want to mess with me? I'll show you. When the day comes that I stop pretending, I want to see your regretful and shocked expressions.
Hahaha, now that's interesting.
Su Nange went to the window, lit a top-tier cigarette, and took a deep, satisfying puff. Damn, it's so pure!
He looked into the distance and thought of Zhou Wanqing's mature and cold face. He said fiercely, "Don't think that just because you gave me a job, I have to be grateful to you!"
"If it weren't for you back then, how could Tingting have left me like that! I not only want you to personally sign the contract in front of me, I also want you to pay a new price!"
