226: I'm back
“Come, come, Brother Su, go prepare two fish. We'll each rely on our own abilities to find something edible nearby to go with them.”
Zhao Hao saw Su Can and Su Ran head to the water's edge, clapped his hands to get everyone's attention, and enthusiastically declared:
“Whether it grows on the ground, is buried in the soil, or hangs from a tree, as long as it's edible, just bring it back.”
“Alright, no problem, I'll show you what I can do!” He Yuan chuckled.
This guy's hometown was in Hubei Province, and he grew up in the mountains. It was only after his parents went out and made a big business that he escaped the fate of a mountain village.
But he felt that he was somewhat more familiar with what was edible and what wasn't in the mountains than people like Yang Fan, so he thought it was his time to shine.
“I have no problem either!”
“None of us have a problem! Isn't it just finding food? Even if we haven't eaten pork, haven't we at least seen a pig walk?”
“Exactly, besides, following Su Can these past two days, we've learned about a lot of edible things. It won't stump us!”
Seeing everyone's enthusiasm, Zhao Hao clapped his hands and said, “Good, in that case, let's begin!”
“Let's go!”
Everyone cheered excitedly, each more eager than the last, grabbing their entrenching tools and foraging for edible items nearby.
From time to time, exclamations of surprise could be heard; one found wood ears, another discovered mushrooms.
Zhao Hao, now bolder due to his skill, ventured a greater distance with his entrenching tool.
In short, everyone was having a great time, very active, and completely engrossed.
Meanwhile, Su Can also began butchering. As a Foundation Establishment cultivator, he didn't even need a knife to kill two fish; with a flick of his finger, his true essence became a blade, gutting them was no problem.
The two carp Su Can caught were very large, each weighing over ten jin, and the internal organs he removed made a large pile.
These discarded entrails were fiercely contested by the Wolf King and Eagle, who instantly became red-eyed.
Flap!
Whoosh!
The two immediately started fighting.
The Wolf King's fur bristled, and he slapped Eagle's body with a paw.
However, Eagle had been enlightened and had also consumed a Body Tempering Pill; his body was jet black, and his feathers were like profound iron.
The Wolf King's paw strike only knocked off a few feathers, not only failing to harm Eagle but instead enraging him. Eagle instantly flapped his wings and clawed several bloody marks onto the Wolf King's body.
“Awoo!!”
The Wolf King let out a pained cry, his eyes turning red.
Just as he was about to go berserk, Su Can let out a cold snort, and a powerful mental force erupted with a bang.
Eagle and the Wolf King were instantly crushed to the ground by Su Can's powerful aura, their eyes revealing looks of terror.
“Pat, pat!”
Two half-length carp were thrown onto the ground, and Su Can's faint voice resounded in the minds of Eagle and the Wolf King: “If I ever see you fighting amongst yourselves again, I don't mind turning you into roasted meat on a stone slab!”
“Woof woof… Screech…”
The Wolf King and Eagle both whimpered, looking as if they understood their mistake.
“Alright, go eat.”
Su Can glanced at them and continued cleaning the fish in his hands.
Eagle and the Wolf King instantly felt relieved. Then, looking at the fresh carp thrown before them, they excitedly stood up with a whoosh and started devouring them with gusto.
Their manner of eating fish was truly ravenous, as if they feared something else would snatch it away.
Especially the Wolf King, who, while eating, still let out warning growls.
In their animal instincts, the fish before them, exuding a certain energy, was like Tang Monk's flesh; eating it would undoubtedly bring unimaginable benefits in the future.
The half-foot long carp was swallowed by the Wolf King in just a few gulps.
Although Eagle's beak wasn't large, his speed was incredibly fast. With a rapid series of pecks, he ate the entire fish clean, not even leaving a single scale.
After these two finished eating the fish, they both lay down obediently on the ground, as if drunk.
But Su Can could clearly feel a faint wisp of energy gradually beginning to emerge from within their bodies.
Although this wisp of energy didn't make them smarter or stronger, it subtly and imperceptibly altered their fundamental potential.
Once they embarked on the path of cultivation, they would undoubtedly develop astonishing potential and possess infinite possibilities far beyond other humans or demon beasts!
Moreover, through the Three-Inch Immortal Realm, Su Can could vaguely sense that after the change in their energy, there was an incredibly subtle connection with the New World that had been opened.
In other words, as the New World grew and evolved, the two of them might very well continue to benefit!
Such a change gave Su Can an additional thought.
“I'll check later to see if the cave master collected any demon cultivation techniques. If not, I'll first teach the Heavenly Wolf Skill to the Wolf King, and then figure out how Eagle should develop.”
“And them…”
Su Can cast a meaningful gaze towards the others who were rummaging around.
The fish had already been taken out; putting them back was clearly impossible.
Since that was the case, he might as well leave a seed, a foreshadowing. Who knows what might happen in the future!
Thinking this, Su Can narrowed his eyes, and with a lift of his hand, he simply took out the Dan furnace.
With a gesture of his finger, a stream of true essence was activated, and the Dan furnace became a suitable size. He tossed a cleaned fish into it.
Su Ran's face changed when she saw him take out the Dan furnace: “Su Can, are you crazy? Why did you take out the Dan furnace? How will you explain it if they see it??”
“No worries, I have my plans.”
After Su Can finished speaking, he raised his hand and grabbed at the stream. A stream of water flew up, and, using the sparse sunlight, he infused the essence of the sun into the water, turning it into spiritual water, which he poured into the Pill Furnace.
Since eating this fish brought infinite benefits, it meant that Zhao Hao and the others, by encountering him, had some sort of fate.
Su Can inherently believed in fate and emphasized cause and effect, so he decided to lay a good foundation for them first, and then make plans slowly later.
“I've already prepared the fish. I'll leave for a bit. When they all come back, I'll just find an excuse to appear with the Dan furnace.”
Su Can threw both fish into the Pill Furnace, then, in front of Su Ran, he conjured a concealment spell and applied it to himself. With a step, he vanished from the water's edge.
When everyone had enthusiastically finished foraging around and returned with their respective harvests, intending to show off to Su Can, they suddenly realized that Su Can was gone again.
“Sister Ran, where's Su Can?”
Yang Fan was the first to ask.
“Yeah, where did Brother Su go again? When did he leave?”
Zhao Hao followed up, holding a pile of black wood ears and a few mushrooms mixed in.
“Su Can? Oh, he left a while ago. He's probably looking for large rocks nearby to make a stone pot, right?”
Su Ran deliberately paused, feigning hesitation.
“I'm back!”
Just then, a figure suddenly walked over from not far away, carrying a Pill Furnace larger than a washbasin, a smile on his face—it was Su Can!
