118: Break defense
These words were too vicious, piercing straight into Wen Hengtang's heart and causing him to instantly lose his composure.
Who would have thought that Uncle and Jiang An could keep the Yan Family stable? What’s more, what Wen Hengtang and the others found even harder to accept was that every member of the Yan Family, from the fake young master to the biological son, was a favored child of heaven with extraordinary strength and upright values, never engaging in power struggles.
Where could they even go to complain about such a thing?
This matter is easy to understand once explained thoroughly. The human heart is the hardest thing to control and predict. In fact, for many things, as long as everyone involved can clearly recognize their place, what they should do, and what is reasonable and morally right, the effectiveness of any number of conspiracies and schemes will be greatly diminished.
It's just a pity that, more often than not, desire, resentment, and jealousy take the upper hand; such is the evil of human nature.
It was unclear whether Wen Hengtang and his group understood this logic, but it was obvious they found it quite difficult to accept the result of twenty years of painstaking effort yielding no effect at all.
Why say this? Because Wen Hengtang, whose sore spot had been poked by a single sentence from Yan Zhuohua, was clearly flying into a rage out of humiliation.
He took out two more syringes from the box, drew the same amount of the two drugs as before, and walked over to Yan Zhuohua.
"You really are quite capable." Wen Hengtang once again injected both drugs into Yan Zhuohua's body.
"I wanted to talk to you to lower your willpower and defenses, but you managed to turn it around and nearly irritate me to death." Wen Hengtang quickly completed the two injections.
"It seems I can't chat with you anymore. Let's stick to the most primitive method." Wen Hengtang leaned down by Yan Zhuohua's ear, "With double the dosage, let's see if you still have the strength to think."
After saying that, Wen Hengtang didn't care if Yan Zhuohua had any reaction and simply stood up, preparing to leave the room.
"Enjoy the pain here by yourself. I'm going to check the progress of cracking your phone, and then I'll come back after a nap."
Before leaving, Wen Hengtang specifically turned off the lights in the room.
A completely dark and quiet environment amplifies a person's perception of pain; Wen Hengtang was prepared to wear Yan Zhuohua down.
Seeing Wen Hengtang come out from inside, several people standing nearby approached to wait for his orders.
"Just wait outside. Call me whenever he can't take it anymore and wants to confess."
The subordinates nodded and returned to their respective positions.
Meanwhile, Yan Qinghe had indeed discovered that something was wrong.
Before finishing work, Yan Zhuohua had specifically come to report to him, saying he would definitely be home in two hours. Although Yan Qinghe was jealous, he certainly didn't distrust his wife, so he hadn't been monitoring Yan Zhuohua's location.
As the two-hour mark approached, Yan Qinghe finally couldn't help but want to see if his wife had started heading home. But to his utter surprise, when he opened the positioning system, he found that Yan Zhuohua was no longer at the place he had mentioned, but was instead in an old residential building on the edge of the city.
Yan Qinghe realized something was wrong almost instantly.
Yan Zhuohua had told him that he would never go to another place without telling him. Yan Qinghe checked his phone; there were no messages from Yan Zhuohua that he had accidentally overlooked.
He looked through Yan Zhuohua's itinerary records again. He had left that shop over an hour ago, circled around the road for a long time, and finally arrived at that residential building fifteen minutes ago.
Something had happened.
Yan Qinghe immediately called the Bodyguard following Yan Zhuohua.
"Where are you?"
"Sir, Mr. Zhuohua arranged for us to eat in another private room, saying he would come find us when he was finished and that we shouldn't disturb him."
"Go to that private room immediately to check for any traces, and then have the shop pull up the surveillance footage." Yan Qinghe was anxious, but he clenched his hands tightly to force himself to stay calm.
"Does Sir mean...?" The bodyguard understood the situation immediately. "We're going right now!"
After hanging up the phone, Yan Qinghe immediately called his Eldest Brother.
"Eldest Brother, Zhuohua is in trouble."
At 8:30 PM, Yan Zhuohua had already been enduring in endless agony for over half an hour.
He didn't know the time, and the current situation made it difficult for him to judge how much longer he had held out; he only felt that every minute and every second was excruciatingly painful.
The people guarding outside gradually heard the faint sounds of Yan Zhuohua's struggling and his increasingly irrepressible groans of pain coming from inside.
"Even such a meticulously raised favored son of heaven easily fell into our hands, didn't he?" One of them listened to the commotion in the room, sounding very smug. "Looks like he won't last much longer, right? So that's all he's got!"
"If that kind of drug were put in you, you probably wouldn't last a minute." Another person casually criticized his teammate, then asked with some concern, "He was tied up properly just now, right? Don't let him just break free like that."
"Don't worry! He's tied up tight."
After these few sentences, they stopped chatting. Both inside and outside the room fell silent.
After a dozen seconds, one of the people guarding the door suddenly looked up in alarm.
"Something's not right! Why is there no sound inside anymore?"
"Could he be dead? That shouldn't be the case, right?" The other person also realized something was wrong. "Go call the Boss; I'll go in and check."
After saying that, the person cautiously opened the door. Just as he was about to turn on the light, Yan Zhuohua struck instantly, knocking him unconscious to the ground.
"What's the situation? How did you... ugh—"
In just a few seconds, the remaining two people outside were also dealt with by Yan Zhuohua.
This drug was indeed worthy of its name; he had almost completely lost the ability to resist due to the pain. If it hadn't been for the fact that he had just returned from training a few days ago and was in his peak physical condition, he really would have had to endure inside and wait for Yan Qinghe to come save him.
Forcing himself to endure the tremors, dizziness, and weakness brought on by the pain, Yan Zhuohua tied up all three people on the ground to ensure they couldn't escape in the short term.
Noisy and hurried footsteps came from a distance; Wen Hengtang was coming with his men.
His physical strength was now almost depleted, so he had to end the battle quickly. Judging by the sound, only four people were coming; fortunately, he could still manage.
Yan Zhuohua picked up a weapon from the floor and stood guard at the entrance of the hallway.
When the footsteps finally drew near, Yan Zhuohua tried his best to hold his breath and struck directly the moment the newcomers stepped into the hallway.
Judging by the skills of the few people he had just dealt with, Wen Hengtang and his group weren't exactly experts; at most, they had the strength of ordinary soldiers.
Thus, Yan Zhuohua, taking the initiative, successfully knocked down these four people as well. With such a motley crew, if he hadn't gone easy on them, they probably wouldn't have been able to catch him even if they had planned for another ten years, right?
"How could you?" Wen Hengtang, who was now tied to the chair where Yan Zhuohua had just been sitting, was filled with horror.
"How could I what? How could I escape?" Cold sweat was still constantly breaking out on Yan Zhuohua's face, but he still managed a calm and composed smile. "Where on earth did you get the confidence to think you could catch me so easily?"
"You did it on purpose..."
"Yes, I did it on purpose."
Yan Zhuohua no longer paid any attention to Wen Hengtang, who still had a face full of disbelief, and turned to leave the room.
