296: Chapter 296 Qin Yuan, Qin Yue, Qin Xue
Han Qing stood at the foot of the bed, her hands as steady as a mountain.
Lin Wanwan's delivery was much smoother than Su Yuran's.
Perhaps it was because of the experience, or perhaps Lin Wanwan's physical condition was better suited for childbirth.
From the start of contractions to the child's birth, it took less than four hours.
When Qin Lin heard the first cry, the sky outside was already completely dark, and the stars were shining, dense and numerous, like a handful of scattered crushed diamonds.
Hearing the cry, Wang Xiulan's legs went weak, and she squatted on the floor, covering her face and weeping.
Han Qing walked out holding the newborn, a smile on her face, though her eyes were red.
"Mother and daughter are both safe."
Lin Wanwan had given birth to a daughter.
She weighed six jin and four liang, and her cry was even louder than Qin An's.
When Han Qing placed her beside Lin Wanwan's pillow, she was still crying, her little hands clenched into fists, and her small face flushed bright red.
Lin Wanwan looked at her, her eyes red, but she did not cry.
She reached out and gently, tentatively touched her daughter's face.
The newborn felt the touch, her crying stopped for a moment, and then started up again.
"Qin Yuan," Lin Wanwan said softly, her voice hoarse, filled with an indescribable tenderness, "That will be your name from now on."
Only then did Wang Xiulan stand up from the floor, her legs still weak, and she walked into the Medical Room while leaning against the wall.
She stood by the bed, looking down at the wrinkled little thing, tears streaming uncontrollably.
Lin Wanwan looked up at her and smiled.
Tears slid from the corners of her eyes, along with her smile.
Lin Wanwan held Qin Yuan, who had already stopped crying.
Qin Lin stood at the doorway watching all of this, a string in his heart gently plucked.
Time passed very slowly in the Peach Blossom Spring, so slowly it was almost imperceptible.
Qin An changed day by day, transforming from a wrinkled little old man into a fair, tender infant, his features becoming more and more defined.
Qin Yuan went from only knowing how to eat and sleep to occasionally opening her eyes to take a look at this world.
The number of cribs on the The Ark went from one to two.
The two cribs were placed side by side in the corner of the living room, and sometimes both infants cried at the same time, their cries rising and falling, as if they were singing a duet.
No one minded the noise, because every cry signified a new life.
Han Yurou's due date had arrived.
She was the third.
That morning, Qin Lin was washing up.
Han Yurou ran out of the room and stood at the bathroom door, her face pale, with fine beads of sweat on her forehead.
"Brother Lin," her voice trembled a little, "I think... I'm going into labor."
Qin Lin hadn't even finished brushing his teeth, his mouth full of foam; he spat it out, rinsed his mouth, put on his clothes, and helped her walk toward the Medical Room.
Han Qing was already inside.
Han Yurou's labor process was longer than the previous two.
She was in great pain, but she bit her lip and didn't cry out, having the same temperament as Han Qing.
When Han Qing told her to take deep breaths, she took deep breaths; when she told her to push, she pushed; every instruction was executed perfectly.
Qin Lin stood at the doorway of the Medical Room and heard Han Yurou cry out once inside, then hold it back.
Han Qing walked out from inside, her expression not very good.
Qin Lin's heart sank.
"What's wrong?"
Han Qing looked at him, the corners of her mouth slowly, slowly turning up:
"It's nothing, I just wanted to let you go in and see the baby."
Han Yurou's voice came from inside: "Brother Lin! Come quickly! She's so beautiful!"
Qin Lin walked in, Han Yurou was leaning against the head of the bed, her face pale, hair soaked with sweat, sticking to her forehead.
She was holding a tiny infant in her arms, wrapped in a light pink swaddle; the baby's face was red and wrinkled, not exactly beautiful.
But the look in Han Yurou's eyes as she gazed at her was as if she were looking at the most precious thing in the world.
"Brother Lin, look at her nose, it looks like yours."
Qin Lin leaned in to take a look.
The newborn's nose was just a tiny little lump; it was impossible to tell who it resembled.
"It looks like yours," Qin Lin said.
Han Yurou shook her head: "It doesn't look like mine, my nose isn't this pretty."
Han Qing stood at the foot of the bed, watching this scene, silent for a long time.
Her gaze shifted from her daughter's face to the infant's face, and then from the infant's face to Qin Lin's face, her eyes slowly turning red.
She turned and walked out of the Medical Room, went to the Ecological Plantation alone, and stood there for a long time, watching the simulated sunlight spilling onto the vegetable racks.
Qin Lin followed her.
"Aunt Qing."
Han Qing did not look back.
After a long while, Han Qing turned around to look at him, tears sliding from the corners of her eyes.
"Qin Lin."
"Yeah."
"You must treat her well."
Qin Lin looked at her: "I will treat her well, and you too, Aunt Qing."
Han Qing wiped away her tears and turned to leave.
She walked a few steps and then stopped, not looking back, and said: "She named the child Qin Yue, the 'Yue' for moon."
Her voice carried a nasal tone, but her tone was calm.
"She said it's because you once said that the sun is the father and the moon is the mother."
Qin Lin stood in the Ecological Plantation, watching Han Qing's back disappear at the end of the corridor.
Sunlight spilled onto the vegetable racks, the tomatoes bright red and shiny, the cucumbers emerald green.
Han Yurou named her daughter Qin Yue.
Qin Lin asked why.
Han Yurou leaned against the head of the bed, holding Qin Yue in her arms, her voice very soft: "Because you once said that the sun is the father and the moon is the mother. I want her to know that she has a father, and also a mother."
Qin Lin looked at her and felt that she seemed to have grown up a lot all of a sudden.
Fifteen days after Qin Yue was born, Xu Xue gave birth.
It was a girl.
Xu Xue had previously said she wanted a daughter.
Xia Qiuyan accompanied her on walks in the Ecological Plantation, she had said more than once: "It would be great if it were a daughter, I could teach her how to paint."
Now she had her wish.
The child was very healthy, weighing exactly six jin, her cry soft and quiet, just like her mother.
Xu Xue held her, looked at her for a long time, then looked up at Qin Lin.
"Let's call her Qin Xue."
Qin Lin was stunned for a moment: "Why call her Qin Xue?"
Xu Xue lowered her head, looking at her daughter's face, her fingers gently brushing over her soft, fine baby hair, her voice very soft, so soft it was almost inaudible: "Because I met you on a snowy day. It was very cold that day, it was snowing outside, and I thought I was going to die. Then your RV arrived. I want her to remember that although this world is cold, there will always be someone who comes."
Qin Lin stood by the bed, looking at Xu Xue, opened his mouth, and in the end, only said two words: "Good name."
Xia Qiuyan stood at the door of the Medical Room, looking at the infant in Xu Xue's arms, her eyes red.
She didn't cry, just stood there, her hand resting on the doorframe, looking at Xu Xue.
Xu Xue looked up and smiled at her.
Xia Qiuyan's tears fell.
Xu Xue: "Why are you crying?"
Xia Qiuyan shook her head: "I'm not crying."
Xu Xue said: "Come over and take a look."
Xia Qiuyan walked over, lowered her head, and looked at the tiny, quiet baby girl.
Qin Xue had her eyes closed, her breathing very light, her fingers curled, her nails like transparent thin flakes.
Xia Qiuyan reached out and gently touched Qin Xue's little hand.
Qin Xue's fingers grasped her index finger.
Xia Qiuyan's body stiffened.
Xu Xue looked at her and smiled.
Li Ying was the fifth.
