8: Chapter 8 Pyrrhic Victory
The reflection drew closer and closer. Zhao Feng tightly gripped the blade aura, his palms starting to sweat.
The corner where he hid offered a narrow field of view, making it impossible to see what was approaching.
The Aliens clearly wanted to suppress him completely, closing in step by step to force him to surrender!
When two rivals meet on a narrow path, the brave shall emerge victorious!
Zhao Feng gritted his teeth and dashed out from the front-left, holding the blade aura before his chest.
His eyes lit up, only to see a mechanical monster. Zhao Feng subconsciously slashed forward; with his ultra-strong neural reflexes, it took only the blink of an eye.
Before the mechanical monster could even move, it was sliced into two by the blade aura.
Leaping past it, there were no enemies ahead. Zhao Feng fled forward, scanning his surroundings with his peripheral vision.
There were over a dozen mechanical ants converging toward the corner. If he had been just a few seconds slower, he would have been surrounded.
The mechanical ants had ferocious spikes on their bodies, and their exaggerated mandibles gleamed with silver, exceptionally sharp.
These ants moved extremely fast.
Zhao Feng planned to rush into the pear orchard to avoid the spaceship in the sky. Next to the pear orchard was a cornfield; as long as he hid inside, there was a high probability of escape.
Two mechanical ants blocked Zhao Feng's path!
Their six mechanical limbs crawled rapidly, and their sharp mandibles clamped down towards him.
"Torrential Rain!"
The blade aura poured down like Torrential Rain, cascading over them.
*Ding! Ding! Ding!...*
A shower of metallic clashing sounds! The ants' mandibles were incredibly hard. This was the first time a material had been able to withstand the blade aura. The Aliens' technology was indeed formidable!
"The strength of Alloy No. 92 is capable of resisting this human's weapon!" The insect inside the spaceship seemed to let out a sigh of relief.
"We don't have much of this alloy either; the Satellite Fortress consumes far too many Materials."
Another insect lamented.
"How can this be!" The insects on the bridge suddenly cried out in shock, clearly encountering something unbelievable.
As a High Grade Spiritual Artifact, even without the activation of True Essence, the blade aura was still incredibly sharp.
Zhao Feng slashed with force once more, and finally, the ant's mandible was hacked in two!
Without its mandibles, the ant was no match for Zhao Feng and was quickly chopped into pieces.
No liquid flowed from the ant, so there were probably no Aliens inside.
The pear orchard was right before his eyes!
"Use non-lethal weapons!" The insect in the spaceship made a prompt decision.
With a sudden click, a dark barrel extended from the ant's back.
Over a dozen pure white beams of light shot over with a whoosh, forming a crossfire that completely sealed off Zhao Feng's vicinity.
Zhao Feng's mind raced. He spun around and ran back, while doing his best to block one of the beams.
"Fleeing to a distance when facing enemies who are weak in close combat but powerful at range is simply foolish." Zhao Feng cursed his own stupidity.
If he couldn't even handle these close-combat enemies, he shouldn't even think about the spaceship in the sky.
The closer he got to the ants, the fewer beams there were.
These beams did not travel at the speed of light, which gave Zhao Feng time to react.
Even so, he still failed to dodge them all.
Zhao Feng groaned. His right hand was hit by one beam, while another heading straight for him struck the blade aura and was blocked.
A bone-chilling cold instantly numbed his right hand, causing it to lose all sensation.
It was a freezing beam!
"The Aliens want to capture me!" Zhao Feng shuddered. "These Aliens must have seen my uniqueness and want to take me prisoner."
The freezing cold in his right hand slowly dissipated as his powerful physical body took effect. However, in the short term, his right hand had lost its combat capability.
Compared to his fragile body, the blade aura suffered no issues at all; the freezing cold could not leave even a single trace on it.
"Kill!"
Zhao Feng charged into the ants, slaughtering in all directions.
Although these ants looked like ants, each was as tall as a calf. Consequently, they were not agile in close combat, constantly leaving themselves exposed.
In the blink of an eye, Zhao Feng had already killed three of them, leaving scrap metal scattered all over the ground.
An ant rushed at him from behind. Zhao Feng executed a backflip, straddling the ant's back, and plunged the blade aura straight into its head.
The ant's head was the control core of this machinery. As long as the head was destroyed, the mechanical ant would lose its ability to be controlled.
Sure enough, when dealing with this kind of creature, attacking from above was the best choice.
Although the freezing gun on the ant's back was powerful and could rotate, it was not as fast as Zhao Feng.
Having found the method, Zhao Feng made quick work of them, slaughtering the mechanical ants down to the last one.
But the real crisis was only now arriving.
The three shuttle-shaped aircraft guarding the large spaceship sprayed blue flames from their tails and arrived above Zhao Feng.
"Do they think they have me cornered?" Zhao Feng secretly rejoiced. His Steel Body possessed Elementary flight capability. He silently gathered his strength, preparing to deliver a thunderous blow to them.
An Elementary flight capability certainly couldn't allow him to fly and burrow like a Late Stage Superman, but jumping high was a certainty.
However, that massive spaceship would be extremely difficult to destroy; he had to think of a way.
*Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!...*
Dense blue beams of light swept down like rain, blotting out the sky.
A life-and-death sense of tension and goosebumps made Zhao Feng move beforehand.
Even before the aircraft fired, he had already slipped away like a slippery loach.
The Aliens did not stop shooting. Zhao Feng's premonition always allowed him to dodge a step ahead, followed immediately by dense firepower.
"What a miraculous creation!" An insect soaked in mucus lazily watched the holographic screen in front of it, which showed Zhao Feng constantly fleeing.
"We must capture him."
"Yes! But let's not report it yet. Let's keep this merit for ourselves."
"Haha, yes. It's a hard-come-by opportunity to earn merit."
The group of insects set the tone during their conversation.
"Continue using the freezing ray!" The insect in the aircraft received the order and immediately flipped a switch on the vessel.
Ahead were the teaching building and offices, which would allow him to use the complex terrain to deal with the flying shuttles in the air.
Risking his right hand getting hit by another freezing ray, Zhao Feng ran into the office building.
The offices were in a single-story building. As expected, the flying shuttles lowered their altitude, pointing their freezing cannons at the windows.
Hiding behind a wall, Zhao Feng gently inserted the blade aura into the wall and slowly carved a large circle.
*Bang!*
The wall burst open, and Zhao Feng flew out.
"Torrential Rain!" The blade aura strangled wildly, filling the sky with silver light.
One flying shuttle was instantly sliced into pieces by the violent blade light. Zhao Feng charged out from the debris, then hacked a massive gash into a nearby shuttle.
The flying shuttle wobbled and fell like a headless fly.
The remaining shuttle seemed to be frightened and stumbled upward. Zhao Feng leaped with all his might and plunged his blade into the shuttle.
The insect inside the flying shuttle knew that the guy was on its aircraft. It quickly increased power, flying up and down, fast and slow, trying to shake Zhao Feng off.
*Boom!*
A blue beam as thick as a bucket suddenly exploded on the flying shuttle, instantly blowing it apart.
Zhao Feng had jumped off before the danger arrived, but that was from a height of several dozen meters.
"Ah!" Zhao Feng tried his best to imitate Superman.
"I fly, I fly!"
His body was still falling. Zhao Feng felt a bit of despair. Was he really just missing a pair of red underpants?
Out of nowhere, a sudden surge of power manifested, abruptly slowing his descent.
"It works!" Zhao Feng didn't dare disrupt this feeling and rode the momentum to fly.
Though called flying, it was actually just gliding.
Zhao Feng landed gently. Looking at the spaceship in the sky, he kicked off again, his body launching out like a cannonball.
"Blast him to death!" The insects on the spaceship panicked.
Countless beams of light swept down.
"Through Wind and Rain!"
Zhao Feng protected the top of his head with the blade light and lunged upward. Being less agile in the air than on the ground, he certainly couldn't dodge everything.
"Ah!"
The scorching rays were of unknown thousands of degrees in temperature. Zhao Feng felt as if he had returned to the days of bathing in lava.
His clothes were instantly carbonized.
"Pain! A piercing pain!"
In just a few short seconds, it felt as if he had taken a walk through Hell.
Zhao Feng soared into the sky.
The intense pain drove him into a frenzy. "Kill!"
Before him was the massive spaceship. Although it was trying to flee, it was too late.
Zhao Feng slaughtered his way inside.
Everything before his eyes was rapidly hacked and slashed! There was machinery, and there were insects.
His vision grew increasingly blurry. Zhao Feng bit the tip of his tongue hard, forcing a sliver of clarity.
"Enter the planet!"
