38: Chapter 38 Blue Star Elite Heroes
As the global public frantically opposed the Ambassador of Guga Planet, Chen Mu, many media outlets saw an opportunity and desperately tried to capitalize on the traffic.
Breaking News: Fox News exclusively exposes interrogation room footage, showing Officer Thompson of the New York Police Department once holding a gun to the head of the alien ambassador, Chen Mu.
Fox News exclusive leak: Our station has obtained a surveillance video from the New York Police Department interrogation room.
The video shows that during the interrogation after Chen Mu was arrested by the New York Police Department, Detective Vincent Thompson had held his service weapon against Chen Mu's head.
There is no audio in the footage, but it is clearly visible that Chen Mu was restrained in the interrogation chair and did not resist.
Caption: He is the first human hero brave enough to point a gun at an alien.
The comment section erupted in a frenzy; for a moment, it was as if Thompson had become the household name, the Blue Star Martial Hero!
"Thompson. Please remember this name. While the suit-wearing waste at the United Nations were deliberating over 'diplomatic phrasing,' and while the politicians of the Permanent Five were calculating how to cede Mars, a regular New York detective pressed his Glock 17 against the head of that alien bastard. This is the posture humanity should have; on our human turf, you must follow our rules!"
"Officer Thompson is not a diplomat, not a general, and not a politician. He is just a New York police officer with a salary of forty-eight thousand dollars a year, an ordinary person who pays ridiculous taxes, drinks gas station coffee, and deals with street filth every day. Yet, he did what all the armies in the world dared not do. Vincent Thompson, you are the fist of humanity!"
"Please carve this video into a statue and burn it into our memories forever. An alien comes to Earth, claiming to represent two million warships, and demands our total surrender. The United Nations holds conferences for him, the White House prepares a suite for him, and global media reports on him like a rock star. Then, a New York cop uses a four-hundred-dollar service weapon to point at his head and tells him to follow the rules. All the hypocrisy and cowardice of human civilization were shredded under the muzzle of that gun. At that moment, Thompson did not represent the United States or the New York Police Department; he represented the final, wild nature of the human species. When all civilized means fail, we still have guns, we still have courage, and we still have an instinctive resistance. Thompson is the last fuse of the human spirit."
"Vincent Thompson, if one day humanity builds a Temple of Resistance, your face will surely be carved on its gates."
"This is what a real human is. Officer Thompson, all alone, in the interrogation room, facing a creature claiming to be an alien ambassador. No one told him what to do. He had no diplomatic immunity, no political calculations, and no way out. He drew his gun. He pressed it against the other's head. The Russians respect this kind of behavior. We propose: Award Thompson the title of 'Honorary Citizen of Earth,' build him a statue, and carve on the base: 'On Blue Star, you must follow human rules.'"
"Officer Thompson's image should be carved on the walls of the United Nations. It should be printed on the hull of humanity's first deep-space warship and written into every elementary school textbook. Not because he was polite, but precisely because he was impolite. When a species faces a civilization claiming to be superior, politeness is the first step toward surrender. Officer Thompson skipped all the diplomatic nonsense and directly laid out humanity's bottom line: On our turf, you have to listen to us, goddammit. This is why Chen Mu later said at the press conference that Maya was the 'first kind female police officer.' Because Thompson had already let him know what an unkind human was like. Officer Thompson is the immune system of humanity."
"I don't want to romanticize Officer Thompson. He is a police officer who pointed a gun at a suspect's head. In a normal society, this should be condemned. But we are not in a normal society right now; we are in an extraordinary time where a creature claiming to be an alien ambassador is threatening to enslave all of humanity. At times like this, procedural justice is a luxury, while survival instinct is a necessity. What Thompson did in that interrogation room is essentially no different from a primitive human picking up a rock and throwing it at a beast invading their territory tens of thousands of years ago. That was a pure human instinctual response, intended to defend territory regardless of the consequences. I don't necessarily like Thompson. But I admit, at that moment, he was more like a real human than any diplomat."
"I come from a country that was once colonized; I understand that feeling better than anyone. Chen Mu has a million-strong alien fleet, while Officer Thompson only has a Glock. Does it look like a disparity in strength? So what? Every anti-colonial struggle in human history started with a disparity in strength. Thompson is the first person to charge out. He is the first shot in humanity's anti-colonial war."
"Seriously, if Guga Planet really takes 'action' tonight, humanity needs to formulate a plan. I propose this plan should be named the 'Thompson Protocol.' Chen Mu says they have 2 million warships, but we have 8 billion Thompsons. Who wins?"
"Star Ghost Organization: We have encrypted and protected Detective Thompson's personal information, including his home address, family information, and social security number, and wiped them all from the public network. If Guga Planet wants revenge, they have to get past us first. Humans protect their own!"
"Trump: Vincent Thompson, a great patriot of the United States!"
"Fox News: Thompson himself is currently refusing all interviews."
"His colleague only said one sentence to the media: 'Jim asked me to tell everyone that he just did what any New York police officer would do.'"
"This sentence is being printed on T-shirts by Burton Clothing and is selling like hotcakes online for $29.99 each."
"Burton Clothing stated that all profits generated from this T-shirt will be donated to the NYPD Widows' and Orphans' Fund."
Inside the United Nations Building, Chen Mu slurped the last mouthful of beef noodles into his mouth.
It tasted quite good; the craftsmanship of the United Nations kitchen was better than he had imagined.
He leaned back against the chair, the light from his phone screen reflecting on his face, sipping orange juice while scrolling through the comments online that were cursing him.
Nowadays, the outcry online about Thompson being a hero was getting louder and louder, and many self-media bloggers had even started using artificial intelligence to generate many parody videos about him.
Among them, the most popular one had a cover featuring a screenshot of Thompson holding a gun in the interrogation room, with the caption: "If Thompson had pulled the trigger back then, the fate of Blue Star would have changed forever."
He clicked on it.
In the video, Thompson pulled the trigger with a ferocious expression, a gunshot rang out, and Chen Mu's head exploded into a mist of blood.
Then Thompson slammed his gun onto the table and started emitting a golden light from his whole body.
His police uniform burst open, revealing a red and blue bodysuit, and he instantly transformed into Ultraman.
The next moment, he flew out of the police station building, broke through the atmosphere, grew larger and larger in space, and with a single punch per ship, swatted those Guga Planet aircraft like mosquitoes.
Finally, he fired a beam of light toward the Kuiper Belt, instantly annihilating the alien army.
At this point, the screen went black, and a line of large text appeared: "Blue Star, guarded by humanity!"
The background music was a remixed version of "The Stars and Stripes Forever."
Chen Mu not only watched the entire two-minute and forty-eight-second video but also casually gave it a like.
Then he scrolled to another one. This time it was an even more outrageous version where Thompson didn't just shoot him dead, but also dragged his corpse to Times Square and hung it on that New Year's crystal ball, with a crowd of New York citizens cheering below.
Caption: "This is where alien scum belongs."
Chen Mu gave it another like.
Comments below: "Thompson should be president. No, Thompson should be the Ball Chief of humanity."
"I suggest NASA name the next Mars landing spacecraft 'The Thompson.'"
"I've already set Thompson's photo as my phone wallpaper. My husband asked me who this was, and I said this is the first person in human history who dared to challenge an alien fleet with a Glock. He's my ex-husband now."
Chen Mu rested his chopsticks on the bowl, scrolling through videos while watching his fear value skyrocket by 20 million; he was nearly grinning from ear to ear.
But to his surprise, he didn't see Thompson himself come out to speak.
According to the patterns from his past life, when an ordinary person is suddenly pushed onto a pedestal, there are usually two reactions: either they quickly come out to accept the coronation, or they collapse under the immense attention.
But Thompson hadn't made a sound.
"Bang!"
The next moment, the room door was suddenly slammed open from the outside. Maya stood at the doorway, her chest heaving violently, pointing outside the window with a look of terror on her face, and shouted: "Chen Mu, this is bad, look outside the window!"
