20: Chapter 20: Picked Up a Battle-Damaged Demon
She just knew it; how could a Sword Venerable who lived for thousands of years only have such trivial matters?
"My master never gave me a name until he died. I followed him the moment I appeared in the world, but he kept delaying giving me a name, always saying he needed to think about it carefully. In the end, he died without having thought of one."
Feng Yange clenched her fists, feeling the powerlessness of not being able to slap the Sword Venerable Wuming in the face.
"I think I understand why your master was called Wuming. Was he perhaps unable to think of a name for himself at all, so he just named himself Wuming?"
"Master, you are so smart! That is exactly it. My former master was cold and taciturn, with his heart set only on Cultivating. He was a gifted Cultivator..."
"Don't mention your master; I want to slap him just hearing about it!" Feng Yange stroked the divine sword. "Now that you are with me, from now on you shall be called Sword."
"Sword?" Sword flew in front of Feng Yange. "What a strange name. Is there any special meaning behind it?"
Feng Yange couldn't help but laugh out loud at the thought of what she would say later, leaving Sword even more confused.
"Think about it. If I am fighting an enemy and I shout 'Sword'... what do you think their reaction would be?"
Sword suddenly realized, its young boy's voice filled with obvious excitement and thrill. "Master, I understand! I like this name."
Feng Yange couldn't suppress the corners of her mouth. "That goes without saying. Could a name I chose be bad? Let's go, take me to find the treasures in the Demon Cave. I am just a little rookie in the Spirit King Realm right now. Help me find more treasures so I can walk sideways in this world with you in the future."
Sword took Feng Yange and pried away all the treasures that could be taken in the Demon Cave.
Looking at that pile of scrap metal, Feng Yange highly doubted whether Sword truly understood what she meant by treasures.
But then again, this Demon Cave was just a pit for the dead; what kind of treasures could there be?
"Master, dig here. There is a box underneath with treasure inside."
Feng Yange was already numb, but she still cooperated with Sword to dig. Looking at the stinky box that was dug out, Feng Yange frowned and opened it, revealing a deep purple crystal core inside.
[Congratulations to the host for obtaining a Spirit Emperor Realm crystal core. Rewarding the host with one bottle of spirit spring water and one bottle of supreme spirit liquid.]
Feng Yange looked at the crystal core in her hand with joy. "This is actually a Spirit Emperor Realm crystal core. This really is a treasure."
"Master, hurry and put it away to avoid triggering a Monster Horde," Sword reminded. Hearing about triggering a Monster Horde, Feng Yange suddenly thought of the System task and smilingly put the Spirit Emperor Realm crystal core into her space.
It seems the task given by the System is not that hard to complete.
Feng Yange took Sword and left the Demon Cave. She had plundered enough treasures, so it was time to leave.
Suddenly, her feet couldn't move. Feng Yange tried to lift them with force, but couldn't. Looking down, she saw a person covered in wounds, who had appeared from nowhere, grabbing the hem of her skirt.
"Save... save me!"
It was a man!
Feng Yange squatted down and saw the person lift his head. He had an exquisitely beautiful face, but unfortunately, it was covered in scars. His black, yet luxurious clothes were torn, and he had a pair of eyes that looked as if they had been shattered by torment.
What a sin!
She had finally encountered a handsome man, but he was on the verge of death.
"Master, anyone who appears here is definitely not a good person. You must not save him..."
Before Sword could finish speaking, it saw its master kick the man away and pull her skirt hem back in disgust. "My mother taught me since I was young that men on the side of the road cannot be picked up; it's either life-threatening or leads to sudden death. Wait for someone else."
Feng Yange ran far away in a flash, leaving Sword stunned in place.
Its master this time was actually not kind-hearted.
But then again, the master dared to smear poop on it; how could she be a good person?
Feng Yange ran for several miles in one breath, hands on her hips, looking around. "Sword, why do I feel like this place is familiar? Have we been here before?"
"Master, look at what that is!"
Feng Yange looked at the man in black leaning in the ruins not far away. Why did she feel like this person looked familiar?
Feng Yange walked over, and upon seeing him, the sky collapsed.
Isn't this the man who was just grabbing her skirt hem asking her to save him?
"Save..."
The man in black raised his hand, and having weakly said just one word, Feng Yange ran away, leaving him in a state of disarray in the wind.
After running several miles out, Feng Yange returned to the location where the man in black was.
"..."
It seemed she had encountered a ghost wall.
This time, the man in black did not ask her for help like the previous two times, but instead looked at Feng Yange, seemingly certain that she would definitely come over.
[Triggered new task: Please, host, rescue the injured man in black. Complete the task to leave the Demon Cave.]
Feng Yange glared at the man in black, gritting her teeth. "System, why didn't you say so earlier? I've already run two laps, and only now you say I need to save him!"
[Apologies, host. The signal was not received just now. To compensate the host, the reward has been issued: one spirit gathering pill.]
Feng Yange walked up to the man, took out a bottle, and fed him a drop of spirit spring water.
[Congratulations to the host for completing the rescue task. The exit of the Demon Cave has been updated.]
Feng Yange patted the man in black on the shoulder. "No need to thank me. If you can still breathe, leave on your own. Don't follow me."
After saying this, afraid that he might catch up, she rushed straight to the exit like a gust of wind.
"Mistress!"
As soon as Feng Yange came out, she heard Ling Feng's voice. Seeing Ling Feng, Feng Yange excitedly went forward and hugged him. "Great, I finally came out."
Ling Feng's gaze, however, fell on the man in black covered in wounds behind his Mistress, his eyes full of vigilance.
"Mistress, who is he?"
Hearing Ling Feng's words, Feng Yange turned her head and saw that familiar, scarred face. Feng Yange closed her eyes in pain and gritted her teeth as she asked the System, "Why is he following me again? System, you told me to rescue him, but you didn't say he would follow me, right?"
[Apologies, host. I don't know him either. However, host, I have already scanned him for you. The current character is a member of the Demon Race, Heaven-grade talent, strength unknown.]
"Heaven-grade talent?"
Feng Yange was stunned, looking at the Demon Race member in front of her who was covered in wounds. "A Demon Race member with Heaven-grade talent? System, are you sure?"
[Yes, host.]
This was her first time encountering someone with Heaven-grade talent, but he was a member of the Demon Race, and she had encountered him in the Demon Cave. His injuries, combined with such a handsome face, completely fit her standards for choosing a husband. However, with his talent, how could a Demon Race member possibly be her husband?
"Why do you keep following me? Didn't I tell you to leave on your own?"
Feng Yange's tone was calm. His pair of purple eyes were very clear, just looking at Feng Yange like that, revealing no emotion.
"What is your name?"
He shook his head. Seeing that Feng Yange's attitude was a bit more pleasant, he timidly walked up to her and tugged on her sleeve, his voice as soft as a mosquito's. "Can I follow you?"
Could he have amnesia?
Seeing his reaction, Feng Yange felt uneasy.
"What is your name? Do you know who you are?"
He shook his head, just looking at Feng Yange, his eyes clear.
