4: Awesome fruit! Skill imprint

Lin Chuan was speechless, but it didn't stop a smile from appearing on his face.

"Hehe, Old Black evolved on his own overnight. Awesome!"

Although, that skill didn't seem to have much of a damn use.

But Extraordinary is Extraordinary after all; at least Old Black's current combat power should be stronger than Lin Chuan's.

Extraordinary One-Star is considered the official threshold for entering the Yao Beast category; he's no longer just an ordinary turtle.

Once he retracts into his shell, Lin Chuan's strength, which is close to that of an adult, probably couldn't even break his defense.

Above that are Elite, Commander, Monarch, King-level, Divine-Grade, and so on, with each Rank divided into nine stars.

The corresponding Ranks for Beast Tamers are: Silver Rank, Gold Rank, Diamond Rank, King-level, and Divine-Grade. King-level and Divine-Grade are considered to have transcended the limitations of their species, so the Ranks are universal.

"But how did Old Black suddenly advance..."

Thinking it over, his Golden Finger was the only possible reason.

The key was that he hadn't even figured out how to use it yet.

Could it be fully automatic, requiring no effort on his part?

With a thousand thoughts racing, Lin Chuan entered his Sea of Consciousness again, deciding to investigate properly.

"Hmm, what's this? It seems different from before."

Lin Chuan didn't even need to search; he could see at a glance that there were obvious differences on the golden tree.

At the ends of the branches, several fruits of different colors hung conspicuously.

As Lin Chuan investigated, their attributes and effects manifested directly in his mind:

Green [energy fruit]: Under normal circumstances, one can grow per day. Absorbing energy can accelerate its ripening. When consumed by a pet beast, it can be used for Cultivation or to replenish consumption.

Yellow [enhancement fruit]: Under normal circumstances, one can grow per day. Providing Yao Beast flesh can accelerate its ripening. When consumed by a pet beast, it can be used to increase skill levels.

Red [skill fruit]: Under normal circumstances, one can grow per day. Providing Yao Beast cores can accelerate its ripening. It can imprint skills; any pet beast touched by the pet beast or master can be imprinted. Consuming the fruit after Imprinting allows one to learn the corresponding skill.

Purple [advancement fruit]: Ripening requires absorbing combat experience. When consumed by a pet beast, it allows Extraordinary and higher pet beasts to advance.

Black [death fruit]: Ripening requires absorbing death aura. It has a fatal attraction to living creatures; after consumption, anyone below Divine-Grade will certainly die.

Seeing the [death fruit] at the end truly shocked Lin Chuan.

Certain death for anyone below Divine-Grade. Even a King-level Nine-Star Peak would undoubtedly die after eating one fruit!

You should know that King-level is incredibly rare. It's said that the strongest pet beast of the highest guardian of the Inner City's Ninth District is, at most, around King-level Five or Six-Star.

As for Divine-Grade, that's just a legend.

Lin Chuan knew this thing must never be leaked, not even a shred of information. Otherwise, he would definitely suffer the consequences.

Of course, he had to get his hands on such a strategic weapon just in case.

If he were ever targeted by a King-level one day, he'd give them a nasty surprise!!

At this thought, a hint of urgency flashed in Lin Chuan's eyes.

It seemed things were getting more and more interesting.

The last three types of fruits were only in the budding stage, with just a faint hint of color inside.

However, the [energy fruit] and [skill fruit] were already ripe.

He just had to wait for Old Black to finish his advancement, and then they could be consumed directly.

"Awesome, Old Black. You didn't even need your master's help to learn how to use the Golden Finger on your own."

"Of course, what's even more awesome is the Golden Finger. No, I should call it the Golden Thigh."

Next, he just needed to let Old Black eat the fruits to increase his strength. Then, Old Black could go out and work to earn money while he focused on slacking off... Thinking of this, Lin Chuan couldn't help but let out a "Jie jie jie..." sinister laugh.

Old Black, who was in the middle of advancing, suddenly couldn't help but shiver.

Maybe he was just cold; after all, turtles are cold-blooded animals... After lunch, Lin Chuan organized the information in his head and decided to go for a stroll.

His predecessor's understanding of the world was mostly based on an ordinary person's perspective. It was either professional common sense for serving Beast Tamers from the Dongfang Technical Vocational School or Beast-Eared Girl.

He really didn't know much about the profession of Beast Tamer itself. The internet was full of general knowledge with no real substance.

Moreover, Lin Chuan wasn't a proper Beast Tamer to begin with, so that general knowledge might not even be useful.

Unknowingly, Lin Chuan walked into a pet beast shop.

As soon as he entered the shop, Lin Chuan felt a wave of aura different from the outside world hit him. It was like hot steam, yet much gentler and very comfortable.

However, that aura soon disappeared.

At that moment, Lin Chuan felt something unusual with the golden tree in the sea of consciousness space. Next to the original green fruit, another one had appeared, already half-stained with green.

[energy fruit]: Absorbing energy can accelerate its ripening.

So that's it. What hit him just now must have been the so-called Spiritual Qi. After Awakening, a Beast Tamer can absorb Spiritual Qi to Cultivate and then raise the Rank of their pet beasts.

However, Lin Chuan had tried to sense it for several nights and couldn't feel a thing. He only felt that the air in this world was very fresh without many Impurities, and that was it.

"What's going on? Why did the Spiritual Qi concentration suddenly drop so much?"

Just then, a fat old man rushed down from the second floor and shouted at the ordinary shop assistants.

"Elder Su, I don't know, this..." a clerk quickly explained.

Naturally, Lin Chuan wouldn't admit to it even if it killed him. He was just a Level One Apprentice rookie Beast Tamer; the fat old man glanced at him and stopped paying attention.

"Add a few more Spirit Stones. If even one of these pet beast eggs dies, none of you can afford to compensate for it."

After instructing the clerks, the fat old man went back up.

This instruction seemed less like a command to the staff and more like a warning to the other Beast Tamers in the shop.

The speed at which the Spiritual Qi had just dropped was no less than the absorption rate of a Silver Rank Beast Tamer Cultivating at full power. Clearly, someone was trying to take advantage of him.

A Silver Rank was nothing to the fat boss.

Business is business, and rules are rules.

Lin Chuan also secretly warned the golden tree not to be so outrageous.

Then, Lin Chuan noticed that this shop specialized in selling pet beast eggs.

A dazzling array of various pet beast eggs filled the display windows on both sides.

Some that wouldn't fit in the windows were placed on specialized counters.

At that moment, a pet beast egg only the size of a pigeon egg caught his attention.

"What can hatch from such a small pet beast egg?"

Lin Chuan thought to himself.

"Hello, customer. This is an ant egg seized from a Black Fire Ant nest. There's a certain probability of hatching an Ant King with Diamond Rank growth potential!"

Seeing that Lin Chuan had stayed there for a while, a clerk quickly came over to promote it.

Although this was the fifth ant egg she had tried to sell this month, it didn't stop her from promoting it again and again.

After all, she wasn't lying. It's just that probability is a matter of luck. If an Ant King doesn't hatch, it's just bad luck.

The only thing she hid was that there were about several hundred eggs in this batch of Black Fire Ants, and they probably wouldn't all be sold even by the year after next.

"Can I touch it?"

Lin Chuan replied.

"This... yes. But don't use too much force."

Saying that, the young shop assistant opened the glass door of the display window.

Lin Chuan wasn't shy and tried touching the ant egg with his finger.

Although it looked like a pigeon egg, it felt bouncy and elastic.

Pet Beast: Black Fire Ant (Unhatched, Extraordinary One-Star)

Skills:

Poison Fire Acid lv1 (Active: Sprays a stream of acid with poison and fire attributes to attack enemies. Cooldown: one minute).

Cranial Super Strength lv1 (Passive: When attacking with the head, gains ten times strength enhancement).

Potential: Elite Seven-Star

[Matching skill discovered... Imprinting successful]

"Hmm?" It seemed something Extraordinary had appeared.

I can detect the attributes of this ant egg? That's not scientific!

Isn't it said that you can only see the specific attributes of your own contracted pet beasts?

Damn, I feel like this Beast Tamer identity I picked up for free is getting more and more ridiculous.

And Imprinting the skill actually succeeded! After all, a pet beast egg is still a pet beast.

Lin Chuan's mind was in turmoil, but his face remained calm.

He calmly withdrew his finger and then, without saying a word, walked directly to the next one.

"Customer, what's wrong? Is there something you're not satisfied with?"

"Hmm, I don't think it's suitable for me."

Lin Chuan didn't reveal the truth and used a common reason to decline.

"I'll just look around for a bit."

Having escaped the clerk's sales pitch, Lin Chuan finally had a chance to investigate the golden tree in his Sea of Consciousness.

He saw that a new red fruit had appeared on the golden tree.

[skill fruit (Cranial Super Strength)]: After consumption by a pet beast, they can learn the corresponding skill.

So that's how it is; only matching attributes can be imprinted.

It might be related to the fact that he had only contracted the Black-backed Turtle. The Poison Fire Acid skill was clearly unsuitable for Old Black and couldn't be learned.

At the thought of Old Black learning [Cranial Super Strength] and then using his head to smash doors frantically... Lin Chuan felt it would be better not to forget to feed him in the future, otherwise, even his home wouldn't be safe.

Regardless, Imprinting skills directly is just too OP.

That means... Looking at the countless pet beast eggs placed around, looking like they were there for the taking, Lin Chuan's eyes gleamed with greed.

However, Lin Chuan soon calmed down.

This could be done, but he couldn't rush it and attract attention.

You have to shear the wool bit by bit, and you can't just keep shearing the same sheep. Slow and steady is the way to go.
