448: Three women in a play, purpose

At the lowest level of that mountain range,

there was an extremely spacious area.

And within that area, there was a gurgling underground river.

“There’s an underground river hidden so deep below ground?”

Fang Ran was surprised.

“There’s an aura of the dark attribute down here,” Xiao Nian said, looking at the pitch-black, bottomless underground river.

“Let’s go down and see.”

“Okay!”

Xiao Nian leaped up and attached herself to Fang Ran’s body.

Fang Ran jumped into the bone-chilling underground river.

His body instantly became warm, as Xiao Nian provided him with insulation, making him feel as if he were soaking in a hot spring.

This also made Fang Ran’s movements very agile.

“It’s just river water, my physical fitness can handle it.”

“No, there’s an aura of the dark attribute here. Your body might not be able to withstand it for long, Master.”

Xiao Nian’s voice came from his ear.

Although it wasn’t loud, Fang Ran could hear it clearly.

“An aura of the dark attribute?”

Fang Ran hadn’t felt it, perhaps because he was isolated from it.

After all, Xiao Nian also possessed dark attribute power and wouldn’t be too severely affected.

Following Xiao Nian’s guidance, Fang Ran continuously dove in the direction of the dark attribute. Soon, in Fang Ran’s line of sight, a building constructed of black stones appeared.

“Did some creature live here before?”

Fang Ran stopped on the ground.

He began to explore the surroundings.

“There’s an aura of the dark attribute here, does that mean some creature lived here before?”

Fang Ran asked.

“That’s right… it seems to be the ancestor of the Slimes.”

As Fang Ran stepped into the house, everything around him came into view.

They were all items needed for daily life, almost identical to those of the Slime tribe above. On one table, there was a strange circular object.

The ring was about the size of a ping-pong ball, completely flat like a frisbee, with a hollow center.

It resembled a ring but was very different, inscribed with complex characters.

“Do you recognize it?” Fang Ran asked.

“No, but there’s an aura of a Void Sea creature on it.”

Fang Ran paused, then put the ring into his Beast Taming Space.

“A Void Sea creature probably lived here, and its Yin energy nourished the seawater here,” Fang Ran speculated.

Of course, it was also possible, as the old Slime said,

that it was the offspring of that Void Sea creature and another species.

However, none of this could be verified.

No one knew what that Void Sea creature came here to do.

A moment later, Fang Ran and Xiao Nian emerged from the underground river and made their way to the shore.

“Let’s go back.”

“Mm…”

From the Slime nest, they had indeed discovered traces of Void Sea life.

This was enough to prove that Xiao Nian indeed had the bloodline of a Void Sea creature, and it was also a way to approach them.

Although this bloodline had been infinitely diluted, to the point of being virtually unrelated, with Fang Ran’s abilities, Xiao Nian was now even purer than the bloodline of those Void Sea creatures!

A moment later, Fang Ran returned home along the same path.

He looked up.

And saw several cars parked outside the door.

“Someone else came?”

He walked past the vehicles and went straight into the house.

At this moment, Aunt was pouring tea and chatting with a few people.

Bai Ning, Lin Qinghuan, and Shen Yun had arrived at Fang Ran’s home at some point, perhaps having received news.

Seeing Fang Ran return, Shen Yun’s eyes lit up. She quickly got up and feigned petulance, saying, “Why didn’t you tell me you were back? Grandpa sent me specifically from Yu City to find you.”

“Time was tight, so I didn’t have time to say anything.”

Fang Ran replied.

In reality, he didn’t want to bother.

He looked at the two Senior Lin, who seemed to be in a bad mood.

“What’s wrong? Senior Lin? Are you in a bad mood?”

“Ah, the two Senior Lin are probably angry because you didn’t come to celebrate their promotion to Monarch, right?” Shen Yun’s lips curled slightly, and she looked at the two with a triumphant expression.

Lin Qinghuan merely snorted lightly and said, “When you and Shen Yun got engaged, why didn’t you invite us?”

Hearing this, Fang Ran immediately understood.

The matter of him and Shen Yun being arranged by Old Shen had been revealed to the two of them.

“How about tomorrow? We can invite you to Yu City?” Shen Yun spoke up proactively before Fang Ran could say anything.

For some reason, she had become much more proactive than usual, perhaps having received instructions from Old Shen.

And hearing her words,

Lin Qinghuan lightly pursed her red lips and said, “Since it was arranged by Old Shen, even if Fang Ran doesn’t want to, he has to agree.”

“After all, we owe the Shen family quite a bit.”

Her words, both explicitly and implicitly, hinted that Old Shen was forcing Fang Ran.

And how could Shen Yun not understand?

Her expression instantly turned rather unsightly, her eyes seemingly brimming with tears.

Everything she had experienced was far less than Lin Qinghuan’s, so how could she possibly argue with her?

A single sentence had struck her weak spot.

It was also something Shen Yun had always been thinking about.

“Alright, Senior Lin, don’t be angry. If I really get married, I’ll definitely invite you first!”

Fang Ran said with a smile, trying to smooth things over.

He helped Shen Yun sit down.

Lin Qinghuan’s voice was cool as she said, “You don’t need to call me Senior Lin. I’m not much older than you, not to mention I’m not actually your sister; we’re not related by blood.”

Hearing this, he could only give an awkward laugh.

Bai Ning, sitting opposite, took a sip of tea, watching the group with interest.

Aunt, hiding in the distance, kept glancing at them, while Uncle looked at Fang Ran with a gratified expression, thinking to himself, ‘He truly is my nephew.’

“I’m only back for a short while; I’ll probably have to go out again tomorrow.”

Fang Ran suddenly spoke.

He used the opportunity to change the subject and discuss serious matters.

After Fang Ran’s narration, the others immediately understood his intentions.

“Isn’t that too dangerous?” Bai Ning asked.

“However, Teacher Yue has indeed been out of contact for a long time. I’ve also asked him a few times.”

Lin Qinghuan frowned slightly.

But she didn’t want Fang Ran to take risks.

Shen Yun, beside him, held his hand, her face filled with tenderness.

Deep in the embrace of tenderness, Fang Ran felt a little dazed, then quickly shook his head.

It’s all an illusion, Fang Ran! Just like in school, when you mistakenly thought all the girls in your class liked you, this is just normal concern!

So he said seriously, “If I don’t go, no one will.”

Or rather, no one was better suited to go than him.

After all, no one else had encountered Void Sea creatures, only him.

Unexpectedly, Bai Ning and Lin Qinghuan did not continue to dissuade him; instead, their gazes towards him became even more affectionate.

If it weren’t for Fang Ran, the Divine Race would probably have already invaded here. And now, Fang Ran, who was younger than them, still had to fight for this world, which instantly made Fang Ran’s image shine even brighter in their eyes.

Fang Ran himself probably hadn’t expected

that the burden on his shoulders was so heavy.

He merely wanted to deal with the impending crisis and save his own life.

Incidentally, he also wanted to record the differences between various races, and of course, most importantly, to contact Yue Baojun.
