Chapter 196 196 The Augmentation Expert (3)

Needless to say, Avery, Kasandra, and Jasmine were all shocked to hear how old Dr. Raiti really was.

With the proper treatments and medicine, it was possible for humans to live to around two hundred years old, but aging could usually only be staved off so much.

Thanks to her unbelievably youthful face, Dr Raiti could probably pass for an older teenager if she wanted to, and if she wrapped her chest and wore some baggy pants to hide her more adult figure, she could probably be mistaken for even younger.

Frankly, Avery had figured that at the oldest she was in her late forties, after that, signs of aging typically started to creep through no matter how good the rejuvenation treatments a person received were.

At sixty-eight, she was far older than Avery's parents, but she looked younger than him. Honestly, he would have considered her some genetic wonder if not for the fact that she had already admitted that her appearance was something she maintained due to her own procedures.

"It seems that you've all had the usual reaction." Mercedes said, laughing lightly at the astonished looks on Avery, Jasmine, and Kasandra's faces.

"But it really just comes down to using the right methods. I'm not like those mainstream rejuvenation hacks out there. All of them are only focusing on the cosmetic side of things and don't actually understand what makes a human body start to age. It all steams back to every induvial cell that makes up the body."

Dr. Raiti then went on a tangent and started spouting all manner of technical terms that none of them really understood. Yet once she had finished up, the last thing she said left all of them in wide-eyed disbelief.

"If my current calculations are correct, I should be able to extend my life to be six hundred years old." Mercedes said proudly.

This information was not just surprising, but downright unbelievable. There were records of a few humans living to a little over two hundred and fifty, but that seemed to be the extent of the human lifespan.

Some species within the Dramid Alliance lived longer than this, but there were not many. Felis Therianthropes like Kasandra had around the same lifespan as humans, if not a bit less on average.

To hear that it would be possible to make it to six hundred years old sounded like some sort of miracle.

"Of course, this is all just projections based on my current data and technology. As time goes on, I may find it possible to extend my life further, or there might be complications. There's one part of the body that's always fickle to deal with."

Dr. Raiti tapped on her head, and it became clear what organ she was talking about.

The brain was complex and there was no telling what sort of effect a long life would have on it.

"Now, I've also got some other things I've been working on." Mercedes said, a gleam in her eyes.

However, before she could get lost on another tangent, Avery quickly interjected and brought the conversation back to the reason that they were here.

"Not to say that we're not interested in your re

Typing away at her console, Mercedes engaged the tanks, and each one filled up with a transparent green liquid. Soon her three test subjects slash customers were floating in the tanks, unaware of anything that was going on around them.
