"Run!" "Help!" "My God, is this Your punishment for the people?" "Holy crap." "The wall was smashed by it!"
"Run! The monster is coming!"
The chaotic clamor of the crowd rang in his ears. As soon as Lin Fang opened his eyes, he saw a fleshy giant foot stepping down toward him. Accompanied by a foul-smelling wind, a shadow instantly swallowed all the light in his vision.
Lin Fang felt frustrated. What kind of world was this? It wasn't giving him any chance to survive at all.
Fortunately, he had enough experience.
[Spacetime Package Status: Fully Loaded]
The concrete layer behind him and the soil below suddenly disappeared, replaced by a 2m x 2m x 3m pit. The moment Lin Fang fell in, the monster's massive foot slammed onto the ground!
Lin Fang, who had originally intended to make an elegant landing, realized he had turned into a child. Looking at these fair and tender little hands, he was likely only about two years old.
Boom!!
The terrifying force of the stomp shook the surrounding soil. A deluge of mud and stones rained down on the small figure, filling nearly half of the hollow cavity supporting him.
The woman running toward him collapsed upon seeing this, her mind going completely blank.
—
"Great! It's Eureka Striker! We're saved!"
Cheers and shouts from survivors suddenly rang out in the distance.
As the Category 4 Kaiju that had destroyed the Coastal Defense Wall continued toward the city center, the Jaeger, towed by four transport planes, descended from the sky. The air blast from its landing sent roadside debris flying.
The iconic T-16 Angel Wings stabilizer fins on its back vibrated slightly in the airflow, perfectly balancing the 76.2-meter-tall giant's body.
Eureka Striker! A Mark-5 Jaeger, one of the fastest and deadliest machines in the Jaeger Program!
Inside the cockpit of Eureka Striker, Herc Hansen and Chuck Hansen exchanged a look. The energy readings on the dashboard instantly maxed out.
"Let this beast know who the hunter is!"
Chuck's roar mixed with the engine's drone. The rocket thrusters on the Jaeger's right fist suddenly fired, and the silver-white figure crashed into the Category 4 Kaiju like a cannonball, landing a precise punch on the side jaw of the Kaiju codenamed 'Virus.'
The giant beast, resembling an upright crocodile, was left dazed by the blow.
"Now! Left hook!"
The Jaeger's power core roared. Eureka Striker's left arm hydraulic system drove with full force as an underground boxing technique heavy punch, infused with all its strength, slammed into Virus's lower jaw again!
"Right hook!"
Under this sequence of combos, 'Virus' was beaten into a steady retreat.
Eureka Striker pressed its advantage. Its chest armor plates slid open, revealing the menacing AKM Anti-Kaiju Missile six-shot launcher underneath.
"Fire!"
Several missiles specialized for Kaiju physiology whistled out with trailing flames, accurately drilling into Virus's gaping mouth—opened in pain—and the deep wounds in its jaw from the previous heavy blows.
A series of muffled explosions rang out.
The fierce light in Virus's eyes completely dimmed. Its massive body collapsed like a mountain, kicking up clouds of dust as hot blue blood gurgled from its orifices and wounds.
Eureka Striker withdrew its fist and stood proudly before the Kaiju's remains. The hatch opened, and two men with short golden hair stepped out.
They were the Hansens, the father and son who piloted this Jaeger.
At that moment, the crowd finally reacted. Cheers from the survivors rose like a tidal wave, filled with ecstasy and catharsis.
Professional rescue and cleanup operations also began in an orderly manner.
—
Yvette O'Connell ran frantically toward the spot where her son had been, the tear stains and terror on her face moving to behold.
"Soren, my Soren..."
Yvette wished so much that this was a nightmare, that she hadn't come to the Opera House today, and that her sensible, well-behaved boy was still waiting for her where she left him.
As she drew closer, hope flickered in Yvette's eyes. There was no scene that would drive her to immediate madness; instead, there was a pit over two meters wide.
Below,
A stubborn little foot was sticking out from the ruins.
Seeing this, Yvette's legs went weak and she knelt on the ground, but then she burst out with amazing strength, sliding and crawling down into the pit. "Soren, Mommy's here! Don't be afraid!"
Yvette desperately dug through the area buried by soil and concrete blocks.
"Oh God..."
Others saw this and cried out in alarm, quickly jumping down to help.
With everyone's help, the rubble over the little hand was quickly cleared. A curled-up boy appeared in their sight and opened his eyes.
"Thank goodness, he's alive!"
The boy was covered in mud, his original appearance almost unrecognizable, but the good news was that he didn't seem to be injured.
The boy who was picked up didn't have the slightest panic or tears expected of a child. He just quickly scanned the surrounding faces before finally fixing his gaze on the Eureka Striker, which stood nearly as tall as the skyscrapers.
Lin Fang's eyes lit up. Looking at the giant Jaeger in front of him, he immediately understood which plane this was.
Pacific Rim!
Lin Fang quickly reviewed the plot of the movie in his mind.
The film tells the story of the near future, where a Wormhole connecting to a parallel universe appeared on the Earth's seabed. Giant monsters from another dimension continuously invaded Earth through the Wormhole, causing devastating destruction to human cities.
Behind them is a group of Andi Star creatures known as the 'Precursors,' whose goal is to occupy Earth and terraform it into a planet suitable for their habitation.
To fight the monsters, humanity united to build giant Jaegers that matched the monsters' size, controlled by two pilots through a neural bridge that shared memories and senses.
The story then revolves around several Jaeger pilots...
So, what is valuable in this world?
The mud-covered child pondered, involuntarily walking toward the giant Jaeger.
He left Yvette, who had just been about to embrace him, stunned in place.
—
Nearby, the crowd was cheering around the Hansens.
"Mr. Chuck Hansen," a reporter squeezed forward and shouted, "can you tell us how you feel?"
Unlike his serious and steady father, the young and brash Chuck Hansen immediately took the microphone. "Of course. This is the tenth Kaiju Eureka Striker has taken down. Whether it's Category 4 or Category 5, these monsters are no match for us. In the future, I'll take down even more..."
While speaking, Chuck Hansen suddenly snapped at another direction. "Hey, what are you doing! I didn't say the kid couldn't touch it!"
The crowd looked over and saw two government officials blocking a child who wanted to touch the Jaeger.
The child was filthy, covered from head to toe in mud.
"Gentlemen, could you please be a little kinder? He's just a child," Chuck Hansen walked over, looked at the pitiful-looking boy, and said gently:
"Go ahead, touch our hero."
