433: Chapter 430 Interrogation of Cg

Li Mo reached out and patted Ye Ouyang's head.

"Oh, don't overthink it. How could there be so many issues?" He smiled and shook his head. "Don't forget, we are the The Authorities. There won't be that much trouble with this matter, so rest easy."

Wei Ziqing, listening from the side, was completely dazed and couldn't help but chime in.

"Oh? That powerful?"

Li Mo turned to look at him, then at the others, suddenly frowning.

"Wait, are the four of you really this idle?" He pointed toward the door. "Go do whatever you're supposed to be doing. Don't just hover around me."

Lu Jianchuan and Shen Mingyuan exchanged a look and nodded.

"Alright, we'll head out first then," Lu Jianchuan said. "We'll go see how that interrogation is going. If results come out, we'll get a briefing on-site. We'll talk in the group chat later."

Shen Mingyuan also nodded. "We'll talk in the group chat then."

Wei Ziqing waved his hand. "Got it, talk in the group."

Ye Ouyang stayed where he was, scratching his head.

"I'm fine staying," he said, glancing at the test tubes and petri dishes on Li Mo's desk. "Actually, I see your drug research is going quite well. If you need me, I'll just stay here. What if you need more samples?"

Li Mo thought for a moment and nodded.

"Hmm, that is indeed a good idea. Stay here then."

Wei Ziqing stretched.

"I finally got out of bed, so I'm going to go exercise for a while." He rolled his shoulders. "I'm heading to the training room to work out."

Ye Ouyang waved to him.

"See ya."

Wei Ziqing pushed the door open and left, his footsteps gradually fading away in the hallway.

The lights in the interrogation room were blinding.

A high-powered incandescent lamp was pointed directly at the Gibbon's face, illuminating every detail of its furry head. It sat in a specially made interrogation chair, its limbs locked tight by metal rings. That long arm, which had once sent Lu Jianchuan flying with a single punch, was now held immobile by several layers of suppression devices.

Its chest was still wrapped in bandages. Ye Ouyang's micro-injection had only barely kept it alive; it was far from fully recovered.

The Interrogator sat opposite it across the iron table, silent.

One second. Five seconds. Ten seconds. Twenty seconds.

The Gibbon went from glaring furiously to its gaze becoming erratic, and finally to letting out an impatient low growl from its throat—it shifted its body, but the suppression devices didn't budge an inch.

Thirty seconds.

The Interrogator finally lifted his eyelids and glanced at it.

The Interrogator was certain he could get something out of it. No matter how clever it was, it was still just an animal. As long as there was intelligence, there would be desires. Where there were desires, there would be selfishness. These things were the Breakthroughs for psychological defenses. No matter how stubborn one's mouth was, as long as they were smart enough, psychological vulnerabilities common to most creatures would inevitably appear.

In this world, there was no such thing as an absolutely perfect psychological defense.

"We know everything about you," the Interrogator spoke. His voice wasn't loud, yet it was exceptionally clear in the cramped interrogation room. "Especially regarding the Dinosaur Person's corpse."

The Gibbon stared at him without speaking.

"However, I want to know—" The Interrogator paused. "Where did you take that Dinosaur Person's corpse? What do you plan to do with it? Or rather, why do you specifically need that corpse?"

The Gibbon remained silent. It even narrowed its eyes, adopting an attitude of 'ask whatever you want, I don't care'.

The Interrogator smiled slightly.

"Silence, is it? That isn't a very good method. I'm only here to save some effort; it doesn't mean we can't find out on our own."

He leaned back against the chair, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Do you really think you can keep hiding it like this? Why don't I take a guess?"

He stared into the Gibbon's eyes.

"I guess you've hidden that corpse abroad, haven't you? You've already taken it out of the country. It's no longer within our borders, but—overseas. Right?"

The Gibbon's eyes suddenly widened.

Just for an instant. A momentary contraction of the pupils, lasting less than half a second. But it was caught.

The corners of the Interrogator's mouth curled up slightly.

"Hmm," he said softly. "I didn't expect a wild guess to be correct."

The Interrogator leaned back further, his fingers tapping twice lightly on the table.

"Then let me take another wild guess." He stared at the Gibbon, his tone unhurried. "Why do you specifically need this corpse? Is it because of Ye Ouyang? It's because of his Super-regeneration ability, isn't it? Otherwise, the Dinosaur Person you created wouldn't have possessed that self-mutilating Corrosive Liquid—the kind specifically designed to counter his excessive regeneration ability."

The Gibbon's body tensed slightly.

The Interrogator saw it.

"Let me guess again," he said, his voice remaining steady. "What can these cells help you do? What is it that was once heavily injured and requires high-speed regeneration?"

He paused.

"Ah, I've got it. In a past incident, our people encountered that biological computer—the thing created by that doctor who longed to achieve Fusion of everyone. Is it him?"

The Gibbon turned its head away, no longer looking at him.

The Interrogator chuckled.

"Even if you don't look at me, your micro-expressions have already given me the answer. Everything I said was correct, wasn't it?"

The Gibbon didn't move.

"Then there should be other uses as well," the Interrogator continued. "Otherwise, your reaction wouldn't be this calm. That means, besides that computer, that corpse must have another purpose."

His gaze fell upon the Gibbon's face.

"Is it to infect others? Lizardman blood has an extremely strong infectious capability. Even if the infected person doesn't transform directly, their descendants will show corresponding changes. This is a very powerful contagion ability. What are you trying to research through it?"

The Gibbon's breathing became heavy.

"Your previous Lizardman operations failed. But this one is clearly different—from a breed perspective, it's completely different. Its infectious capability doesn't seem to have fully manifested. So, through your previous research, you've created an entirely new breed, but this breed lacks that infectious ability."

He stared into the Gibbon's eyes.

"That's why you need this corpse. You need to study how to carry out the infection. You are researching a new—special life form capable of infecting all of humanity, aren't you?"

The Gibbon finally snapped. It struggled violently, causing the suppression devices to emit a series of clicking sounds, but they remained immovable. Rage, panic, and a hint of a breakdown from being completely seen through flashed in its eyes.

"It seems I didn't guess wrong," the Interrogator nodded, his tone still steady. "So, what are you looking for that computer for?"

The Gibbon opened its mouth but said nothing.

The Interrogator watched it for two seconds.

"Hmm, it seems you don't know." He leaned back into his chair. "Judging by that expression, fine, I understand almost everything now."

The Gibbon finally spoke, its voice raspy and filled with an unbelievable fury.

"I... damn it... how was this even possible? I clearly didn't say anything! Yet you—"

The Interrogator interrupted it.

"You clearly expressed it yourself," he said, his tone even carrying a hint of pity. "Those micro-expressions and other signs make it very easy to deduce."
