70: Wu Qiong's Spatial Art

On the other side, on the second path leading to the key of life.

The encounter of Wu Qiong and Zhang Wei was a completely different scene.

This path was excessively clean.

The floor and walls were paved with an unknown white jade, smooth as a mirror and spotless.

There was no smell of decay in the air; instead, a faint fragrance like fresh grass permeated the space.

"Is this place... really inside the pyramid?"

Zhang Wei found it hard to believe. "It feels like a corridor in a five-star hotel."

"The more it's like this, the more careful we must be."

Wu Qiong's expression was exceptionally grave.

He took a small metal ball out of his backpack and gently tossed it onto the floor ahead.

The ball rolled less than three meters on the smooth floor.

Sizzle—

A faint, almost invisible red ray suddenly shot out from the wall, precisely hitting the ball.

There was no explosion, and no sound.

The ball, made of a special alloy, vanished without a trace the moment it touched the red ray, as if it had been erased from existence.

Not even a speck of dust was left behind.

“Hiss—”

Zhang Wei sucked in a breath of cold air, his back instantly drenched in cold sweat.

"This... what kind of laser is this? A Disintegration Ray?"

He was certain that if that ray had hit him just now, his fate would have been exactly the same as that ball.

"It seems the road ahead won't be easy."

Wu Qiong looked at the seemingly empty corridor ahead, his gaze becoming incredibly sharp.

He knew that in this seemingly peaceful area, countless invisible, lethal death rays were laid out.

"What do we do? We can't get across," Zhang Wei said, feeling troubled.

These rays were intangible and formless; there was no way to find a pattern.

"No, there is a pattern."

Wu Qiong shook his head and pointed at the subtle, almost negligible carved patterns on the wall.

"These patterns mark the positions of the emitters. And the jade on the floor isn't all identical. Look, some of the jade pieces are slightly darker in color. Those are the safe zones."

Zhang Wei leaned in to take a closer look, and sure enough, it was true!

"Holy crap! Are your eyes microscopes? You can see such a subtle difference?" Zhang Wei said, his face full of admiration.

"In our line of work, eyesight is a basic skill."

Wu Qiong said calmly.

Although he had found the pattern, the problem was that the safe footholds were distributed in extremely tricky locations, and the distances between them varied.

Some were seven or eight meters apart, and some even exceeded ten meters.

Trying to jump across like a game of hopscotch, precisely and without a single mistake, was an impossible task.

"What do we do? We can't possibly jump this distance," Zhang Wei said, facing another difficulty.

"Who said anything about jumping?"

A confident curve curled at the corner of Wu Qiong's mouth.

He set his sights on the first safe foothold seven meters away.

The next second.

Swish!

His figure vanished from the spot and appeared out of thin air on that safe point!

Space Flicker!

"Holy shit!" Zhang Wei was stunned. "You can do that?"

Wu Qiong's ability was practically tailor-made for cracking this kind of trap!

"Follow me closely."

Wu Qiong turned back and said to Zhang Wei.

Then, he activated his ability again, flickering to the next safe point.

Looking at Wu Qiong's elusive movement technique, Zhang Wei was so envious he was almost drooling.

"Captain! Wu Qiong! How am I supposed to get over?" he shouted into the channel with a bitter face.

"Don't worry."

Wu Qiong's voice came from ahead.

He pulled a roll of special high-strength alloy rope from his backpack, fixed one end to the floor beneath his feet, and threw the other end to Zhang Wei.

"Hold onto the rope, I'll bring you over."

"Got it!"

Zhang Wei immediately grabbed the rope. Wu Qiong took a deep breath, activated his ability, and flickered to the next safe point along with Zhang Wei.

In this way, relying on Wu Qiong's bug-like spatial ability, the two of them advanced through the lethal laser array without any danger.

However, when they reached the middle of the corridor, a new problem appeared.

The lasers ahead were no longer stationary.

They had become mobile!

Dozens of red lasers formed an inescapable net, sweeping back and forth through the corridor at an extremely fast speed!

There were no safe zones to speak of!

"We're doomed now." Zhang Wei's face turned pale.

"How do we get through this? One touch and we're gone!"

Wu Qiong's brow also furrowed tightly.

Although his Space Flicker allowed him to travel through space, it required a fraction of a second of preparation time to activate.

The laser net in front of them was too fast and too dense; he had no confidence that he could avoid it one hundred percent.

"It seems I can only use that method." A flash of determination crossed Wu Qiong's eyes.

"Zhang Wei, give me all the C4 you have on you."

"Huh?" Zhang Wei was startled. "What are you going to do?"

"Don't ask, just give it to me."

Though confused, Zhang Wei still handed all the C4 Plastic Explosives in his backpack to Wu Qiong.

Wu Qiong took the explosives. Timing the gap in the laser net's sweep, he took a deep breath and activated Space Flicker!

Swish!

His figure vanished from the spot.

The next second, he appeared on the other side!

He succeeded!

He had actually managed to pass through that airtight laser net!

"Holy crap! Amazing!" Zhang Wei shouted excitedly from behind.

However, Wu Qiong didn't stop.

He quickly planted the C4 on the massive white jade door on the opposite side.

Then, he activated his ability again and flickered back.

"You... you're going to..." Zhang Wei looked at the door, seemingly understanding something.

"Since we can't go over there," a wicked smile appeared on Wu Qiong's face,

"then we'll just blow up the door and bring it over to us."

"..."

Zhang Wei was completely speechless.

He finally understood why Wang Yi had paired the two of them together.

One was an artist who toyed with space.

The other was an artist who toyed with explosions.

With these two together, they were simply the nightmare of all traps and mechanisms!

"Get back! Cover your ears!"

Wu Qiong took out the detonator and pressed the button.

BOOM—!!!

An earth-shattering roar exploded in the silent corridor!

The massive stone door, made of hard jade and several meters thick, was forcefully blown into a pile of rubble by the terrifying power of the C4!

The violent shockwave even disrupted the sweeping lasers, causing them to flicker and go out for several seconds!

The dust cleared.

Behind the door was a small secret chamber.

In the center of the chamber, atop a stone pedestal, an object in the shape of an Ancient Egyptian Cross quietly floated, emitting a soft green light.

The key of life!

They had gotten it!
