52: Do you really think I'm an ordinary doctor?
"Protect Young Master Zhuang!"
With a startled cry, the guards outside the door rushed in, blocking the entrance, holding their swords, and looking around like headless flies.
"Physician Jiang?"
"Quick, move aside, Physician Jiang is here, and Elder Wu too."
...A chorus of greetings rose, and the crowd outside made way.
Jiang Hanwen's Face was dark, followed by two burly men who looked quite similar to him.
The guards who came with them recognized the people behind him. The head guard shouted:
"Steward Wu!"
In the chaos, Zhuang Jun followed the shout and saw his steward, Wu Cheng, and Wu Shen, one of the targets of this trip to the Medicine Field, standing together. His heart returned to its normal rhythm; it was good that they were his people.
Zhuang Jun smiled at Wu Shen and said, "Elder Wu, how are you?"
Wu Shen replied with a forced smile, "Young Master Zhuang, how are you?"
While they greeted each other, Jiang Hanwen bypassed the guards and Zhuang Jun, walking straight to Xu Yanwu.
Zhuang Jun and the guards curiously glanced at him. Who was this person walking ahead of Elder Wu? Was he his subordinate? What was he going to do?
The next second, Jiang Hanwen lifted his right foot high, then stomped it down forcefully.
"Crack!"
A crisp sound of bone breaking drowned out the wails. Jiang Hanwen had directly crushed Xu Yanwu's foot!
"Ah! My leg!
Guard Gu, kill him quickly!"
Amidst hysterical screams, Xu Yanwu's voice became hoarse from pain, and veins bulged on his Face.
Just as the guard was about to act, Wu Cheng grabbed his shoulder and shook his head.
"Who are you? Stop!"
Displeasure flashed in Zhuang Jun's eyes. Who was this person? Even when beating a dog, one should look at its owner, and he was right here!
"Elder Wu, control your people!"
Ignoring the barking, Jiang Hanwen walked up to Gong Qing, took his wrist, and found his pulse unstable and floating.
He lightly pressed Gong Qing's blocked back. It was uneven, and two ribs were broken.
Just now, Gong Qing had walked a turn at the gates of hell.
He hadn't expected that he would be beaten like this just for going to Wu Shen to get some seeds.
This was excellent, truly excellent!
"Didn't we agree that no matter what problems arose, your body was the most important thing?" Jiang Hanwen looked at Gong Qing's blood-stained Face, feeling a sharp pain in his chest, as if he had been hit by a series of heavy hooks.
"I—"
Hesitating, Gong Qing lowered his head and sighed heavily.
This was his own business; he had to take responsibility, even if it was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot.
"Let's go treat your injuries first."
Jiang Hanwen turned, ignoring the foul smell on Gong Qing's body, and carried him on his back. Without a word, he walked straight out of the house.
"Young Master, you must uphold justice for me!" Xu Yanwu, dragging his crippled body, pleaded on the ground, his Face as pale as gold leaf.
Zhuang Jun's Face flushed crimson. It was too humiliating! This bumpkin actually ignored him, completely disregarding Wu Cheng's attitude. He pointed at Jiang Hanwen, who was walking towards him, and roared:
"I'm calling you!"
"Whoosh~"
No sooner said than done, a palm sliced through the air and slapped fiercely across Zhuang Jun's Face.
"Bang!"
Zhuang Jun was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing into the wooden dining table.
Instantly, everyone's eyes widened. They stared at Jiang Hanwen in disbelief, even holding their breath.
Young Master Zhuang... a member of the Zhuang Family was beaten!
Even Wu Cheng, who had been sitting calmly nearby, was stunned. A subordinate hitting the master, and slapping him in front of everyone, was unheard of.
His head buzzed, and the physical pain was nothing compared to the pain in his heart.
Zhuang Jun knelt on the ground, dazed. He was hit, he was hit!
"Don't!"
Wu Shen, who was nearby, quickly pulled back a guard.
He had studied under Jiang Hanwen for a few years. Although they had less contact later, he still knew something about his teacher's temper.
This teacher, who usually never caused trouble, was not afraid of it!
Wu Cheng also reacted, quickly shaking his head and blocking everyone.
"Guard Gu, let him go!"
"No one is allowed to leave!" Zhuang Jun jumped up from the ground, touching his swollen left cheek. His Face was extremely grim; he wanted to kill!
However, strangely, the guards didn't listen to Zhuang Jun. Instead, they looked at Wu Cheng, and seeing him shake his head, they moved aside and let Jiang Hanwen pass.
As he reached the door, Jiang Hanwen glanced back at Zhuang Jun, then looked at the two Wu Family brothers, his tone as cold as winter frost: "This isn't over. Wait for me here!"
Seeing Jiang Hanwen's unyielding demeanor, Zhuang Jun's heart completely exploded with rage. You need to understand, you hit me, I didn't hit you!
"This is outrageous, outrageous! Kill him for me—"
"Young Master Zhuang, he is Jiang Hanwen!" Wu Cheng grabbed Zhuang Jun and whispered in his ear.
Zhuang Jun's dark, watery Face froze. He stood rigid like a statue, staring at Wu Cheng with wide eyes, as if to say, why the hell didn't you say so earlier!
Outside, everyone watched as Jiang Hanwen carried Gong Qing out, making way for him.
United in their indignation, they blocked the sight of Zhuang Jun and his group.
Jiang Hanwen carried him back into the house.
"I'm sorry~"
Gong Qing, who had not uttered a sound even with broken ribs, now had two lines of crystal tears flowing from his eyes, which were red as he looked at Jiang Hanwen.
For the dream of this good-for-nothing, his friend provided material support and technical assurance, but he was too weak, unable to protect even the opportunity he had obtained.
He was incompetent; he deserved to die.
"You have nothing to be sorry to me for. If anyone should be sorry, it should be me."
Gong Qing shook his head. Jiang Hanwen had already done more than enough.
"Don't move around. If you move again, I'll call Dad!"
Hearing this, Gong Qing instantly became obedient and stopped struggling to sit up.
Jiang Hanwen changed his clothes, washed his body with water, applied medicine, and bound him with bamboo splints.
"Sleep well. I'll go get justice for you."
Jiang Hanwen tucked him in. The moment he turned around, the tenderness in his eyes vanished, replaced by absolute coldness.
Outside, the crowd of onlookers had not diminished but increased.
The few people who had achieved a Breakthrough by eating free noodles stood at the forefront of the crowd, staring at the calmly sitting Zhuang Jun with wolf-like eyes.
Seeing Jiang Hanwen walk into the crowd, Zhuang Jun's arrogance from earlier vanished:
"Apologize to me. I can let bygones be bygones for what just happened."
The surrounding guards and outer herb farmers looked at each other.
When did slapping someone in front of everyone get resolved so easily?
As expected of Physician Jiang, even a member of the Zhuang Family had to give him Face after being hit.
In everyone's minds, a reconciliation was already forming.
However, the next second...
"When did I say I was going to apologize?" Jiang Hanwen looked coldly at Zhuang Jun, then glanced at the ground.
Xu Yanwu had already been knocked unconscious, curled up in a ball, like a dead dog.
The crowd was silent. Physician Jiang was so formidable, directly confronting Zhuang Jun?
Jiang Hanwen pointed at the two guards next to Wu Shen and said:
"Go call people, preferably all the Elders. Just say that someone from the Zhuang Family is going to die, and if they come late, Zhuang Jun will become fertilizer."
The two guards' pupils dilated in shock. Threatening someone in front of so many people, was he... was he serious?
Wu Cheng nodded, signaling the two to quickly gather people.
The two exchanged a look, and with wind beneath their feet, they ran out of the Medicine Field.
A chill ran from Zhuang Jun's heels upwards. Both shocked and angry, he quickly looked to his left.
His steward, Wu Cheng, was blocking the guards, showing no intention of protecting him, and was saying something to Wu Shen.
Gulp~
Zhuang Jun swallowed. The situation was a bit grim.
Jiang Hanwen looked at Wu Shen and said:
"Go, burn down the Medical Hall. Since the Zhuang Family doesn't care about our lives, keeping the Medical Hall is a waste."
Wu Shen smiled bitterly and said, "Teacher, this matter was not Young Master Zhuang's intention; it was Xu Yanwu who caused all this. The Medical Hall is of great importance, please be lenient."
Wu Cheng stood between Jiang Hanwen and Zhuang Jun, adding:
"Physician Jiang, we also didn't know about this matter.
Someone in the Medicine Field spread word that Gong Qing was selling things in the Medicine Field, affecting everyone's farming, which is why we came.
The source of this matter truly isn't with Young Master Zhuang."
"Did you hear that, Jiang?!
The problem lies with the informant in your Medicine Field, it has nothing to do with me." Seeing someone back him up, Zhuang Jun's attitude sharply changed. He instantly went from being in the wrong to being the victim, straightening his back, looking quite pleased, like a dog relying on its master's power.
Jiang Hanwen said nothing. He walked into the nearby Medical Hall, retrieved the lamp oil inside, smashed it with a bang, splashing it everywhere in the room.
The black lamp oil, like ink blobs, stained the sickbeds, tables, chairs, and windows.
In everyone's eyes, an orange-yellow light flashed inside the house, followed by bright flames rolling out, fire snakes dancing wildly, emitting crackling sounds.
Thick black smoke billowed, and Jiang Hanwen walked out of the fire.
A huge ball of fire ignited in the open field, flames seven or eight meters high like a signal light.
In the distance, seeing the fire, both herb farmers and guards quickened their pace and ran frantically.
Hitting someone naturally required an explanation.
The Medical Hall was the price for him to seek justice. Others might not understand, but Zhuang Kongming would definitely know.
The intense fire raged, fueling Jiang Hanwen's fury.
He wanted to tell everyone the price of harming Gong Qing!
Wu Shen's heart sank. He gave Wu Cheng a glare, as if to say, look at this idiot Zhuang Jun. Everything was fine, but he just had to make it like this. Couldn't he have said something softer?
Wu Cheng looked helpless. Some things truly weren't within his control.
Before Wu Cheng could inform Zhuang Jun, Jiang Hanwen fixed his gaze on him:
"Wu Cheng, right? Since you said someone from the Medicine Field informed you, please provide evidence. Who exactly gave you the information?"
How could Wu Cheng admit it? He shook his head like a rattle-drum:
"Physician Jiang, we promised to keep the identity of the person who told me a secret, so I can't tell you.
But I can assure you, this person truly exists, and is right here in the Medicine Field."
"Then can I also say that I heard from an informant that Zhuang Jun, unable to become a disciple of the Qinglan Sword Sect, killed two maids and buried them in the backyard?"
Jiang Hanwen looked coldly at Zhuang Jun. His restraint didn't mean he hadn't done anything. Did he really think he was just an ordinary physician?
