5: Chapter 5 You're finally in my hands

Two days flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was Wu Dongju's birthday.

At six in the evening, Chen Mo changed into a simple white shirt and casual trousers. His hair was neat and tidy as he took the private elevator from Tomson Riviera directly to the underground garage.

He chose the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Its black body was steady and dignified, not as flashy as a supercar, which perfectly suited the atmosphere of a class reunion.

"This garage really is big enough."

Chen Mo walked around the Cullinan, remembering that he had bought three more units the day before yesterday. With four properties coming with sixteen parking spaces, he couldn't help but smile.

In his previous life, he couldn't even afford a single parking space; in this life, he had achieved garage freedom.

Twenty minutes later, the Cullinan pulled up steadily in front of "Old Friends Restaurant."

It was a mid-range establishment with warm decor. Red lanterns hung at the entrance, giving off a cozy, lived-in vibe.

Chen Mo pushed open the door and walked into the reserved private room, where over twenty people were already sitting and chatting animatedly.

"Chen Mo! You're finally here!"

Zheng Feng was the first to stand up and wave.

"We were just waiting for you, come sit, come sit!"

The classmates chimed in one after another, their tones full of familiarity.

Chen Mo scanned the room. Basically all the classmates who stayed in Magic City had arrived. Their faces still carried the greenness and excitement of having just entered society, and their eyes were clean and pure.

"Sorry, sorry, there was a bit of traffic on the way."

Chen Mo smiled and found an empty seat to sit down; it happened to be next to Wu Dongju.

Wu Dongju was wearing a light blue dress today. Her hair was draped over her shoulders, and she wore a bit of light makeup, making her look exceptionally beautiful.

Seeing Chen Mo sit down, her cheeks flushed slightly. She subconsciously smoothed her skirt and whispered:

"You're here. I thought you'd forgotten."

"How could I forget? It's Dongju's birthday, I had to come."

Chen Mo smiled, his gaze lingering on her face for a couple of seconds.

In his previous life, he knew Wu Dongju had feelings for him, but back then his family situation was poor and he was focused solely on making money, so he never dared to reciprocate.

The classmates settled around the table. The dishes were served quickly, and beer and soft drinks filled the glasses.

Everyone talked about fun times in university and the frustrations of starting work; the atmosphere grew increasingly lively.

"Remember that debate competition in sophomore year? Chen Mo, your final closing statement was absolutely brilliant, you completely stunned the opposition!"

"And the graduation trip! Chen Mo, you carried Dongju across the stream on your back. We were all teasing you both back then, and you even blushed!"

"Chen Mo, where are you working now? Looking at your outfit and the car you just drove up in, you must be doing pretty well!"

Facing his classmates' teasing and inquiries, Chen Mo responded to each one with a calm tone. He didn't mention his wealth, only saying he was "doing a bit of small business, barely making ends meet."

He didn't want his wealth to ruin the purity of their friendship; he just wanted everyone to have a happy gathering.

Wu Dongju sat beside him, quietly watching Chen Mo the whole time.

In university, she had liked this sunny, handsome, and exceptionally hardworking boy.

She remembered how Chen Mo worked three jobs to earn his living expenses back then, yet he would still silently bring her cold medicine when she was sick and help her look up references when she stayed up late for her graduation design.

She just never dared to confess. She hadn't expected that after six months since graduation, Chen Mo seemed to have changed a lot—becoming steadier and more charming.

When the dinner ended, someone suggested going to KTV to sing, and everyone agreed unanimously.

Chen Mo drove Wu Dongju and a few other classmates. The Cullinan cruised smoothly through the night, the windows reflecting the roadside neon lights, creating a great atmosphere.

"Chen Mo, your car is really comfortable to ride in."

Wu Dongju sat in the passenger seat, stealing glances at him.

"You... are doing quite well for yourself now, right?"

"It's alright, much better than in university."

Chen Mo turned his head to glance at her, noticing a hint of nervousness and expectation in her eyes. He understood it clearly.

"What about you? Are you used to your job yet?"

"I'm used to it, it's just that sometimes I have to work late."

Wu Dongju smiled.

"Actually... back in university, I always wanted to tell you, thank you for always helping me."

"We were classmates, no need for such formalities."

Chen Mo said this, but a ripple of emotion stirred in his heart.

When they arrived at Crown KTV, Wang Zhi had already booked a private room.

He was the class monitor, came from a good family background, and had always been enthusiastic about organizing class activities.

The room wasn't exceptionally luxurious, but it was clean and tidy. Beer, juice, and snacks were laid out on the table, all arranged by Wang Zhi in advance.

"Everyone, feel free to pick songs! Whatever you want to eat or drink, just say the word!"

Wang Zhi greeted everyone with a smile.

"It's Dongju's birthday today, we have to have a blast!"

The classmates started picking songs one after another. Some sang love songs, others sang old classics; the atmosphere was lively and warm.

Wu Dongju also picked Stephanie Sun's 'What I Miss'. Her voice was gentle with a hint of sadness. When she sang the line 'What I miss is having nothing left unsaid', she couldn't help but look at Chen Mo.

Chen Mo held the microphone and happened to meet her gaze. His heart stirred, and he began to sing along.

Their voices blended exceptionally harmoniously. The room fell silent instantly, and the classmates all started teasing and cheering.

"Get together! Get together!"

Wu Dongju's cheeks were bright red, but she didn't look away from Chen Mo, her eyes sparkling with light.

By midnight, everyone was a little tipsy.

Chen Mo had also drunk quite a bit of beer, and his head felt slightly heavy.

Wu Dongju supported him and said to the classmates:

"I'll take Chen Mo back. You guys keep playing."

The classmates teased them:

"Dongju, take good care of Chen Mo! Don't take this chance to 'have improper designs' on him!"

Wu Dongju's face turned even redder. She nodded and helped Chen Mo out of the KTV.

The night was thick outside, and the night breeze carried a hint of chill, clearing his head slightly.

"Chen Mo, where do you live? I'll take you back." Wu Dongju held his arm, her voice gentle.

Chen Mo didn't answer in his drunken state. Wu Dongju's eyes darted around, and she led him toward a nearby hotel.

Wu Dongju booked a room, helped Chen Mo inside, and laid him on the bed.

Looking at Chen Mo's sleeping profile, she sat by the bed, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

The person she had liked for four years was now lying right in front of her, breathing evenly, sleeping like a child.

In university, she never dared to speak up, fearing rejection and fearing they wouldn't even be able to remain friends.

But now...

You've finally fallen into my hands.

She stood up, first drawing the curtains and then dimming the lights. The entire room instantly took on an ambiguous atmosphere.

Then she walked to the bedside, leaned down, and lightly pressed a kiss onto Chen Mo's forehead.

"Chen Mo, I like you."

Her voice was very soft.

"Ever since the first time I saw you in the library during freshman year, I've liked you."

Chen Mo didn't react, still sleeping soundly.

Wu Dongju looked at him and suddenly burst into a smile, looking like a little squirrel that had stolen a pine nut.

"Since you won't take the initiative, then I will."

"Anyway... I don't want to miss out again."

She slowly drew closer.
