28: Chapter 28 I Want to Eat Too

Jiang Yishen was silent on the other end for a moment, and finally replied listlessly, "Got it, let's compete fairly."

Lu Chengyue curled his lips, "I think she likes me too."

Jiang Yishen was silent again, then gritted his teeth, "That's what you think. Hanging up."

Lu Chengyue returned in a great mood. On the way back, he kept reviewing the time he had spent with Xu Wanning, firmly believing that she had been flirting with him earlier.

He needed to think carefully about whether he was acting on impulse, bewitched by her beauty, or if he truly liked her and wanted to spend his life with her.

Once he figured it out, he would confess his feelings. In the meantime, they would continue to interact as before.

It also gave Xu Wanning a chance to change her mind; perhaps after spending a few days together, she wouldn't like him anymore. As a rough man like him, once he made up his mind, it was for a lifetime. If they really got together, she wouldn't be able to run away even if she wanted to.

The flight lasted one hour and 25 minutes, arriving in Meng City. As soon as she walked out, she saw Song Yunqing, with two middle-aged people standing beside her—presumably her parents.

She hadn't met them in her past life, but she knew their names: Song Shouyi and Liu Meilan. She remembered clearly that the four of them had set up memorial tablets for their family members together.

Their faces were slightly tanned and very simple; no one would guess that they could casually give their daughter 2 million in pocket money every year.

"Ningning, come here!" Song Yunqing waved her arms high.

Xu Wanning responded immediately. Carrying no luggage, she ran over easily, "Hello, Uncle and Auntie."

"Oh my, hello, hello! You are truly beautiful," Liu Meilan said with an appreciative look. "Girl, you can just call me Auntie Lan, and call him Uncle Song."

Xu Wanning behaved poised and gracefully, "Alright, Auntie Lan, Uncle Song."

They walked out of the airport affectionately and headed towards the Song family home.

The airport was still a long way from the Song family home. They lived in a yurt, which was very far from here.

They hadn't been driving for five minutes when Liu Meilan couldn't hold back anymore, "Girl, can you show Auntie Lan that space my daughter was talking about?"

"You know, our family makes a living from those livestock. If we hoard them all and don't sell them, we'll lose quite a bit of money."

"Alright." Xu Wanning flipped her hand, and a set of skincare products appeared in her hand, "Auntie Lan, this is my mother's favorite skincare set. She asked me to bring one for you."

She flipped her hand again, and two boxes of tea appeared, "This is the tea my dad asked me to give you. He managed to snag it with great difficulty. Even when my second uncle asked for it before, he couldn't bear to part with it."

Song Shouyi, who was driving, nodded with a smile, "Thank him for me. I don't have any other hobbies, just a fondness for good tea."

Xu Wanning curled her lips, "You got it." In her past life, she had heard her sisters talk a lot about their parents. She remembered all of these things clearly, which allowed her to give such precise gifts.

"Mom, Dad, you've seen it now. The Apocalypse is really coming. We can't sell the cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, and pigs we have at home."

Seeing her produce items out of thin air, Song Shouyi and Liu Meilan had no reason not to believe her.

Liu Meilan patted her daughter's hand, "We believe you, we believe you. When we get back, we'll start slaughtering the cattle, sheep, and pigs, leaving only enough for breeding. We estimate we'll have about 5,000 tons of meat."

She looked at Xu Wanning, "Girl, can your space hold it?"

Xu Wanning nodded generously, "Yes, but it will have to be stacked."

The floor area of the space wasn't large, but it was tall. As long as it was stacked in shipping containers, she estimated she could fit it all in, and there would still be plenty of space left over.

Song Shouyi laughed heartily, "That's no problem."

When they arrived at the Song family home, Xu Wanning understood why they were so confident. This wasn't just personal farming; it was a large-scale enterprise.

As far as the eye could see, there was no end in sight. There was mechanized farming of all kinds, and the grasslands made one want to run a lap around them.

Song Shouyi didn't think anything of Xu Wanning's surprised expression; everyone who came here reacted the same way.

"We don't raise horses here, but my brother's family does. I'll go to his place in a while and collect everything they've raised too."

Xu Wanning shook her head, "No need. The government will take over in the later stages. It's useless for us to hoard that much. Uncle Song, the meat from your family alone is enough for 100 people to eat for two or three hundred years. It's enough."

Song Shouyi chuckled foolishly, "That's true. It's enough for our own family to eat, and we can leave the rest to the government."

"About how many days will it take? If it takes a long time, I'll go back first and come back in a few days."

She had thought about a lot, but not this much. She figured it definitely couldn't be finished in one day.

Song Yunqing didn't understand anything and looked at her dad blankly.

Song Shouyi thought for a moment, "The chickens and ducks can be finished today, pigs will take 5 days, sheep 4 days, and cattle will take a month. The cattle are more complicated and slower."

"Today we'll start by slaughtering the chickens and ducks, and you can take them when you leave tomorrow. I'll put the rest in the cold storage, and you can come back to collect them in a month, okay?"

Song Shouyi offered a plan, mainly because he was afraid of delaying Xu Wanning's affairs.

"That works too. Then, Uncle Song, Auntie Lan, what about your family members..."

If they had a lot of family members, staying locally was the best choice. Dragging the whole family along, one bringing another, might end up with them trying to take everyone in Meng City with them, which was too unrealistic.

Song Shouyi smiled, "As for us, just me and Auntie Lan will go. Our relatives are all married here. If they all came along, Jing City wouldn't be able to hold them."

"Everyone here helps each other, we all know each other, and we can look out for one another. Besides, we are familiar with the surrounding environment, which makes us feel more at ease."

"And if the government intervenes and restores order, we can still come back. Our roots are here; we have to return eventually."

Xu Wanning nodded. What she feared most was mass migration—relatives bringing relatives, and then more relatives. It was too difficult.

Once she brought her dad and second uncle to Jing City, she would find Grandpa Zhou to report it to the authorities, hoping that the country would come up with a response plan soon. Perhaps the difficult Apocalypse of her previous life could be ended in a short time in this life.

At noon, she had an authentic home-cooked meal. Must say, fresh meat really tasted better. Knowing she liked cartilage, Auntie Lan specifically stewed all the ribs with cartilage for her; it was incredibly delicious.

She took a photo and posted it to her social media moments with the caption, 'So delicious.'

Lu Chengyue was the first to like it. She didn't know if he had been watching the whole time, afraid that the first-like spot would be snatched by someone else again.

Ding-dong.

When her phone rang, she thought it was a message from Lu Chengyue, but it turned out to be Wen Shuyang, a voice message.

"Ningning, you went to eat a big meal and didn't even call me! I'm here running around with my parents dealing with our real estate, my legs have run thin, wuwu."

Xu Wanning couldn't help but laugh. It seemed like things were progressing very smoothly on Yangyang's side, "When you come back, I'll treat you."

"It's a deal! I'm going back to work." Wen Shuyang disappeared quickly; she probably sent this message during a break when she went to the restroom.

Ding-dong.

Her phone rang again. She thought it was Lu Zhiyu.

Lu Chengyue's profile picture popped up, [I want to eat that too.]

Xu Wanning bit her lower lip to hold back her laughter, [I'll treat you when I get back.]
