Falling City
Zhuiyun Building, Starlight Investment Company
Jiang Chuan, dressed in a formal suit, stood on the podium, listlessly listening to the reporters' boring questions.
Last night, his little secretary had changed into a JK uniform and white silk stockings, lying on the large bed of the presidential suite, dangling her white-stockinged feet in the air.
The two had been together for over ten years and knew each other's kinks all too well. After three hundred rounds of battle, the little secretary repeatedly begged for mercy before Jiang Chuan finally let her go. However, being in his thirties after all, he felt a bit drained now.
At this moment, a female reporter stood up and asked, "President Jiang, rumors are circulating that Starlight is about to become the fifth-largest investment company in the country. What are your thoughts?"
Hearing this question, Jiang Chuan finally perked up a bit, leaned toward the microphone, and said confidently:
"I only walk my own path. I don't like the number five. I only like being number one, and I will only be number one!"
The reporters below were ecstatic at his words, snapping photos of him frantically.
They loved this kind of provocative answer; hearing this meant today wasn't a wasted trip. They could already imagine the public's reaction when this news aired.
The female reporter who had asked the question was stunned for a moment by such arrogant words. President Jiang was as good at posturing as ever. She quickly followed up:
"President Jiang, you are so young yet you've founded such a large investment company. Do you have any regrets?"
Jiang Chuan picked up the microphone directly and said with emotion:
"The thing I regret most in my life is founding Starlight. Every day I open my eyes, a massive amount of capital flows in. Sigh, money is simply the most useless thing in this world."
Hearing this, the female reporter hesitated, unable to ask her prepared third question. She sat back down with an odd expression.
Twenty minutes later.
Jiang Chuan finally finished answering the last reporter, tugged off his tie, and turned to walk out of the conference room.
Seeing the interview end, the secretary gave each reporter a large red envelope, subtly reminding them that some things are better left unsaid. After making the arrangements, she walked toward the elevator in her high heels.
Jiang Chuan returned to his office, leaned back in his executive chair with his legs crossed on the desk, and took out a cigarette. Finding no lighter, he irritably tossed the cigarette onto the desk upon hearing a knock.
"Come in!"
The secretary entered the office, looked at the cigarette on the desk, picked it up with her red lips, took a lighter from her bag, lit it, and placed it in her boss's mouth, saying softly:
"Smoke less, it's not good for your health."
Jiang Chuan nodded, reached out, and pulled his secretary, who was wearing black silk stockings, close to him, caressing her.
The secretary in her OL outfit laughed and moved President Jiang's hand away, leaning against him and blinking her large eyes as she said coyly, "President Jiang~ stop touching~ if you keep going, my stockings will tear~!"
Jiang Chuan lowered his legs, pulled the secretary into his lap, leaned toward her ear, and asked with a smile, "Then what do you want to do?"
"I'm thinking~" The secretary's head rested on his broad shoulder as she removed the hairpin from her hair, her voice sweet and cloying.
Just as Jiang Chuan was about to make a move to subdue this little vixen, a small hand suddenly plunged the hairpin deep into his neck.
"You... you..."
Jiang Chuan instinctively covered his neck with both hands, trying to stop the bleeding, but it was useless.
The secretary stroked his angular face, which was now contorted in pain.
"Boss, don't worry, I will stay with you forever!"
After saying that, she picked up the fruit knife from the desk and plunged it into her own chest without hesitation, pressing tightly against Jiang Chuan. Her face was covered in tears, and she spoke through a mouthful of blood:
"Jiang Chuan, if there's a next life, you must meet me sooner. I really love you so much, so much..."
A tragic yet magnificent scene unfolded in the office. A beautiful woman sat in the lap of the shocked Jiang Chuan. The office chair beneath them was stained red, and blood dripped onto the white floor, splashing into crimson flowers... "Drip, drip, drip."
..."That student over there, let go of that female student immediately!"
"Jiang Chuan, let me go, you're hurting me!"
"Jiang Chuan! If you don't let go of Linlin, I'm going to get physical!"
Cries from girls, roars from boys, announcements from loudspeakers, and the surrounding clamor filled Jiang Chuan's ears.
His dilated pupils began to focus. His blurred memories became clearer as he looked at the familiar scene before him.
"Is this Luocheng University's graduation ceremony? Dammit, where the hell am I? Is this still Blue Star?"
Feeling that he was holding something, he looked down. He was tightly gripping a girl's arm, so hard that her fair skin was turning red.
Jiang Chuan looked up at the girl and observed her for a long time before finally finding her in a corner of his memory.
"Zhang Linlin? Why are you still pestering me?"
Zhang Linlin didn't hear what he said; she only felt the pain in her arm and shouted, "Jiang Chuan! There's no chance for us anymore, let me go!"
The boy standing next to Zhang Linlin wearing sunglasses sneered at the words, "Jiang Chuan, are you dreaming? You're the one who should stop pestering Linlin. She's my girlfriend now. Let go! Or don't blame me for getting rough!"
"Who is that? Why is he holding onto someone else's girlfriend?"
"It's Jiang Chuan from the Finance Department. You don't recognize the department hunk?"
"Oh, it's him! I heard his family is really poor!"
"Wait, haven't Zhang Linlin and Jiang Chuan been together for three years? Did they break up?"
"If I were her, I'd choose Sun Kai too. What's the point of being good-looking? I heard Sun Kai bought an Audi A4 right after graduation."
The crowd standing nearby whispered, some even watching while snacking on sunflower seeds.
The crowd grew larger, and faculty members were shouting through loudspeakers. But those in the back didn't know what was happening; they just saw the crowd and came to join the commotion.
Just then, a fat boy rolled over like a giant ball of meat.
Passing the faculty member with the loudspeaker, he snatched it away. The people around him made way; getting hit by him would mean a one-day trip to the ICU.
The newcomer shouted through the loudspeaker as he ran, "Sun Kai! You dare touch my Third Brother? You've got some nerve!"
Sun Kai's expression soured when he saw who it was, and he didn't dare speak further. This guy really would fight, and more importantly, he could afford the compensation. He had a very principled approach: however badly he beat you up, he'd pay you that much money.
Jiang Chuan let go and even wiped his hands on his clothes. Looking at the familiar face running toward him, he finally felt this illusory world was a bit more real.
Pan Renxing was his college roommate. Their dorm was ranked by age; he was the youngest, so he became Old Fourth.
Pan Renxing stood in front of his Third Brother like a lone warrior guarding a pass, shouting, "Come on! Let's see who dares to move!"
Jiang Chuan remembered the situation. He patted Old Fourth on the shoulder, took the loudspeaker from him, and said with a smile:
"Old Fourth, leave it to me."
Jiang Chuan looked around, saw an ideal spot, and walked over.
Sun Kai breathed a sigh of relief. It would be too embarrassing to fight in front of so many people. Watching Jiang Chuan walk away, he sneered inwardly:
"A coward like that thinks he can compete with me for a woman?"
Jiang Chuan stepped onto a protruding rock, held the loudspeaker to his mouth, and looked at Sun Kai with a meaningful smile.
