98: The plusMAX++

The story splits into two threads.

Meanwhile, Lu Li was sulking in her office because, even though the day was almost over, her phone only showed a single 'read' receipt.

She had been so proactive; how could this Xiao Chunan restrain himself?

Unfortunately for her, Lu Li had no idea how well Fang Xun was currently living.

Just as Lu Li was stewing in her anger, a message from Wei Heng finally arrived.

“Come to my office. There’s a situation. Improvise.”

Usually, when Wei Heng summoned someone to his office, it was either a major issue or something utterly trivial.

Judging by Wei Heng's message, Lu Li sensed he had run into a huge crisis.

Seeing this, Lu Li had no choice but to put aside her sulking.

She tidied herself up, put on her shoes, and headed toward Wei Heng's office.

When she reached the doorway of Wei Heng's office, she saw that the door was tightly shut.

“Whoa.”

Lu Li gasped in surprise. This clearly meant there was a big secret inside.

So, Lu Li first knocked on the door. Only after hearing Wei Heng call her in did Lu Li carefully step inside.

As soon as she entered, she saw the two guests from Sakurajima were in the room.

That Genius Miko was sitting opposite Wei Heng, while the Great Minister was standing respectfully behind the Genius girl.

What kind of show were these two well-off Sakurajima people putting on?

“What is this?” Lu Li asked, drawing out the last word.

Then, she saw Wei Heng gesture toward Uesugi Akemi and the other person.

“Captain Lu.”

The Great Minister standing behind Uesugi Akemi immediately smiled.

“Director Wei mentioned that you seem to know quite a lot about that Great Senior?”

“I suppose so?” Lu Li blinked. So what were these two here for?

“Indeed.” The Great Minister took a step back and bowed respectfully to Uesugi Akemi.

“Lord Uesugi, I have already become a servant of that Senior. Perhaps we can exchange notes.”

“Huh?” Lu Li’s jaw dropped. What in the world was this?

What nonsense, a servant?

“Yes…” Uesugi Akemi looked somewhat embarrassed as she faced Lu Li.

“That Master is now my owner…”

“Holy crap?” Lu Li couldn't help but blurt out a curse.

So that brat Fang Xun was playing such wild games?

Had he turned the young girl around like this? Was it really the Master’s mission?

No wonder the black stockings weren't tempting him anymore?

“There’s no need to be envious. Lord Uesugi merely achieved this through a fortunate coincidence,” the Great Minister behind Uesugi Akemi said proudly.

“…”

Lu Li was speechless; she truly wasn't envious of that.

“So, you came here today just to talk about this?”

Lu Li thought it over. These two couldn't just be here to 'show off' and leave. There had to be something else.

“Yes,” the Great Minister replied.

“We don't know if your Bureau is aware of the location of that Master’s Deity. We assume you aren't yet. But our Lord Uesugi has already visited…”

“We know. What’s there not to know?” Lu Li directly interrupted the Great Minister.

She went to Fang Xun’s place without even knocking.

“Ah?” The Great Minister froze. Why would she know? He could clearly sense that even the director of this Special Affairs Bureau didn't know.

“Ah?”

Another sound, even more astonished than the Great Minister’s.

“No, when did you find out!” Wei Heng looked at Lu Li.

Lu Li, oh Lu Li, have you actually betrayed the organization!!!!

You didn't tell me about such a major event!

“You never asked,” Lu Li rolled her eyes. “Even if you knew, would you dare go bother him?”

“That’s true…” Wei Heng instantly felt balanced.

In this rapid exchange, the atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

After a moment, the Great Minister from Sakurajima spoke first.

“Since you know the location of that Master’s Deity, why has there been no activity for two days? We are still waiting at the hotel.”

This was one piece of evidence supporting the Great Minister’s judgment that the Special Affairs Bureau did not have the Master's exact contact information. He just hadn't expected someone actually knew.

“Then we have to let the person rest for two days, right? He exerted so much effort.” Lu Li said exasperatedly.

Never mind an extraordinary being like that; even a common laborer should have a say in whether they should work continuously.

This single sentence silenced the Great Minister.

He seemed to have committed a slight act of blasphemy, thinking of such a divine being as something that could be summoned and dismissed at will.

“You… you are correct.”

Unconsciously, he started using respectful language toward this person who could communicate with a deity.

“Alright, alright. I thought it was something serious. Just this?”

Lu Li looked at them, realizing she had worried for nothing.

But she looked at Uesugi Akesetsu again.

This young girl seemed… to have something going on.

“Um, Uesugi Akesetsu?” Lu Li remembered the name and called out to her.

“I’m here,” Uesugi Akesetsu immediately responded.

“You… are his servant?” Hearing the Great Minister’s formal introduction, Lu Li still found the matter too abstract.

“Yes…” Uesugi Akesetsu said somewhat shyly, “That Master planted one of his Clones in me.”

“What kind of seed?” Lu Li’s eyes widened.

“It’s… a round, sour thing…”

It was actually a bit sweet, but Uesugi Akesetsu was too embarrassed to say it. Such a description was too bizarre.

“Oh… that’s fine then.” Lu Li’s mouth twitched. She thought it was some kind of seed; Fang Xun probably just tricked the girl with some kind of candy pill.

“Come on, since you know too, I’ll take you with me. I need to go see him anyway.”

Lu Li clapped her hands and beckoned Uesugi Akesetsu directly.

“Go where?”

“To the Master’s Deity, of course. It’s called the Deity, right?”

This terminology was quite neat. If Fang Xun’s doghouse could be called a Deity, her place would surely be the Deity ProplusMAX +++.

“Ah, we’re just going like that?”

“How else would we go? Let’s go. Hey, you two shouldn’t follow us, alright?

That’s a deity, you know~ Be careful of divine retribution if you offend a god~”

Before leaving, Lu Li couldn't resist teasing them.

Wei Heng let out a slight tut upon hearing this.

Seeing Lu Li’s casual attitude, it was clear she already had some understanding of that Great Senior.

However, if he didn't have to offend, it was best not to make active contact. The current tacit understanding was sufficient; when the code runs correctly, it’s best not to touch it actively.

Although Uesugi Akesetsu was filled with shock, she still followed Lu Li out.

She didn't quite understand why Lu Li could be so relaxed.

“Aren’t you afraid?”

In the air, Uesugi Akesetsu asked Lu Li.

“What’s there to be afraid of? He’s not some wolf or tiger. But, I do need to appease him a bit.”

Lu Li deeply agreed with her own words. The photos weren't effective enough anymore; she needed to try a different tactic to coax him next time.
