Chapter 117: Veyra doesn’t back down easily

A few days went by after that ’rough’ night. I definitely have both of them a time out because I definitely overdid it this time.My secret longing for a rough and dirty night got me in this mess, welp.

Anyway, there were other matters to attend to.

I got my pot from Harok, and got my scale back as well.

It was just as I had given it to him, with not a single dent.

Also, I introduced Damar to him, and this old bear gave Damar a long scrutinizing look before nodding and letting us leave, like we had gained his approval or something.

It’s not like I was looking for his approval, and I don’t know what he was thinking either, but I was glad I was finally able to clear up any misunderstanding he might’ve had, and clear up all his doubts.

I checked on the meat daily too, to make sure nothing was wrong, and no sabotage was in place.

Not like anyone could do it, since the place where the meat was kept was Chief Kasa’s hut after all.

By the second day, the fresh meat that had not been done to it had rotted and was thrown out. The salted meat still seemed fresh underneath all that salt, the roasted meat, burnt almost all over, was still edible as well, but for how long will that last?

Let’s keep monitoring it.

On the third day, the smoked meat had begun to rot.

One reason why it rotted so quickly when smoking was supposed to be a sure method was their crude way of smoking.

They didn’t have the basics down.

While they tried smoking such a huge chunk of meat, they neglected the inside and focused on the outside, which even got burnt on top of it.

When smoking, the insides need to dry up, and then the outside. Only when the meat has no more moisture from the process can it be considered successful, and it would last for days on end.

But I’m too lazy to teach them how to smoke meat properly so let’s leave it.

Veyra was suspiciously quiet during the few days.

She avoided me, and the glow of satisfaction it gave to my heart was more than I could explain. It felt great that she was out of my hair, but then again, it also made me a little uneasy.

Veyra doesn’t back down easily.

She would rather think of a trickier and more complex way to paint me badly, after all her cheap tricks failed.

Just what is she planning?

Is she just quiet now so the rumors about her would die down? She can’t draw too much attention to herself, especially not when the snow tigers were still here.

They were smart enough to point out her black and whites, the same ones that my tribe was too blind to see.

So long as they were here, her schemes would never work.

She probably thought like that while biding her time, while waiting for her chance to get payback against me.

If she was planning to do something to me after they leave, then I can only laugh it off because the moment the snow tigers leave, is the moment that I also cut ties with this godforsaken and idiotic tribe.

I didn’t see Kaelor around either. He went hunting so often that it was clear he was avoiding me.

Good, let them all avoid me until I leave.

I don’t have the energy for any more of their dramas.

What I need my energy for, is to focus on my sewing lessons with Taruna and start sewing up winter clothes.

With so much time on my hands and a time out on sex, I was able to make something. A nice, soft, and warm wrapping skirt.

It was a first for me. And it came out great.

One more reason why it was so good was that I didn’t use their crude needles and vine, and instead used the one Solin had.

She gave them in exchange for teaching her how to grill meat.

It was a done deal.

I was planning to teach her anyway, to thank her for standing up for me, so it works out well. I’ll do better for her in the future.

And the friendship she wanted, I guess it’s not so bad to consider it a good thing.

I also asked her to help me keep an eye on Rhask, so he wouldn’t be deceived by Veyra and she readily agreed, having come to despise Veyra.

When I asked her why she hated Veyra, despite never been wronged by her, she said,

"Anyone who has wronged you has wronged me,"

Her words were unexpected, but I didn’t hate them. In fact, it made me feel something warm inside. A sense of relief and gladness.

I grabbed her hands and said,

"I will definitely be a good friend."

"I should be the one saying that." She said, her eyes twinkling in delight.

Well, this isn’t so bad.

A few more days passed with this peace.

I was squatting behind a tree, over a hole I had dug, my skirt raised and my tail wrapped in my arm in front of me.

My face was flushed in embarrassment because... Why in the world are they standing guard while I’m taking a dump?

It’s not the first time either.

They don’t let me go anywhere alone, and while I understand their motive, it’s too embarrassing knowing they’re nearby while I poo.

And worst of all, they were stealing glances at me even when I told them not to look.

Thanks to that, I stayed squatted longer than I should’ve because I was shy and embarrassed.

"Are you done yet?" Fenric asked and I growled.

"Don’t talk to me,"

He laughed.

"I promise I’m not looking."

"Liar!"

"If you’re done, should we bring the water over?"

"Ugh,"

So embarrassing.

"Just bring it over."

Since there were no toilet papers and definitely nothing to substitute for toilet paper, I began using the crooked bowls for toilet purposes.

They’d get water with two of the marked crooked bowls and I’d use the water to wash up after my ’business’ and wash my hands afterwards.

It was better than nothing.

But the fact that he would shamelessly and stubbornly try to watch the whole process made me want to explode in shame.

Didn’t they have anything better to do than to monitor their wife taking a shit?

Seriously, I can’t get used to this.
