37: Chapter 37 Jiang Biehe

Jiang Biehe, formerly known as Jiang Qin, was originally the page of Jiang Feng, the "Jade-Faced Swordsman" who was recognized by the Martial Forest as a handsome gentleman over a decade ago.

Back then, Jiang Feng was injured while punishing evil and unexpectedly ended up at Yihua Palace, where he was saved by Yao Yue and Lian Xing. Both fell in love with Jiang Feng at first sight, but because the rules of Yihua Palace forbade love, a series of misunderstandings led to Jiang Feng falling in love with the palace maid, Hua Yue Nu.

Afterward, Jiang Feng and Hua Yue Nu knew that Yihua Palace would not tolerate them, so they eloped in secret.

After escaping Yihua Palace, the two were afraid of being found by Yao Yue and Lian Xing, so they didn't dare return to Jiang Feng's original home.

By chance, Jiang Feng met his former page, Jiang Qin, and went into seclusion in the latter's hometown.

Little did he know that Jiang Qin was treacherous; upon learning of Jiang Feng's situation, he directly betrayed his Master for personal gain.

Ultimately, Jiang Feng and Hua Yue Nu were found by Yao Yue and Lian Xing, and on the day their children were born, they became a pair of ill-fated lovers in death.

Jiang Qin used the treasures given by Yao Yue and Lian Xing to make his fortune, changed his name to Jiang Biehe, and gradually rose to power.

The reason Jiang Qin changed his name was, first, to bid farewell to the past, and second, because he feared retaliation. This was because Jiang Feng had a sworn brother named Yan Nantian, who was recognized as the world's number one. Not only were his Martial Arts superb, but he also had an extremely close relationship with Jiang Feng. Once he learned the truth of the matter, Yan Nantian would certainly not let him off.

Jiang Qin knew he was no match for Yan Nantian and could only hide from him.

After changing his name, Jiang Biehe, through an Opportunity, managed to latch onto Liu Xi, who was in charge of the Eastern Depot.

To have a powerful backer, he married Liu Xi's goddaughter, Lady Liu, but he didn't expect that living off a woman wouldn't be so easy.

For Lady Liu to be favored by Liu Xi and taken in as a goddaughter, she was naturally no push-over.

Relying on her godfather's support, Lady Liu was not only domineering in front of Jiang Biehe but also prone to jealousy; it would not be an exaggeration to call her tyrannical and overbearing.

Even after she and Jiang Biehe had a daughter, Jiang Yu Feng, she didn't change one bit.

Jiang Biehe was naturally a petty man who bullied the weak and feared the strong. Facing the powerful and assertive Lady Liu, he didn't dare resist. Moreover, with his secrets held against him, he had to bow his head while under her roof. Thus, he had been swallowing his resentment for many years.

But now, Lady Liu's greatest backer, Liu Xi, was dead!

This gave Jiang Biehe, who had been bullied for years, hope of finally holding his head high.

But before he could assert himself, Lady Liu seemed to see through his thoughts and suppressed him immediately.

Wiping away the half-real, half-fake tears on her face, she looked coldly at the flickering gaze of Jiang Biehe: "Jiang Biehe, you don't think that just because my godfather is gone, you can defy the natural order and turn the tables on me, do you?"

Jiang Biehe's expression froze, and he instinctively wanted to deny it.

Lady Liu sneered before he could speak: "Although my godfather Liu Xi is gone, the new Eastern Depot director, Tan Tian, is his confidant, and I am better acquainted with him than you are. Furthermore, I know about your past betrayal of your Master and your name change."

"So, even if I no longer have my godfather as a backer, don't even think about riding over me. I'm still the one in charge of this household."

Jiang Biehe lowered his head slightly, a flash of resentment passing through his eyes. However, he knew that what Lady Liu said was the truth. Moreover, since they already had a daughter, Jiang Yu Feng, he didn't lash out. Instead, he put on a smile: "Madam, how could you think that?"

"We've lived together for so many years; it's always been you managing the internal affairs and me the external. How could there be any talk of one suppressing the other?"

"I was just thinking that since Godfather has passed away and we are setting up a mourning hall to pay our respects, should we call Yu Feng back?"

"Although she hasn't had much contact with Godfather, nominally, he is still her god-grandfather."

Speaking of his daughter Jiang Yu Feng, his smile gained a bit of heartfelt softness.

For he truly loved this daughter to some extent. Not only because blood is thicker than water, but also because she could ease the relationship between him and Lady Liu. Furthermore, Jiang Yu Feng was influenced by his "unmatched in benevolence and righteousness" persona, and having been well-protected since childhood, she was upright through and through.

Compared to him and Lady Liu, Jiang Yu Feng was like a lotus rising unstained from the mud.

This was what Jiang Biehe hoped to see and maintain.

It was true that he was filthy inside, but whenever possible, he hoped his daughter could live a clean and pure life.

This could be considered the natural instinct of a parent wishing the best for their child.

Lady Liu was much the same.

Therefore, regarding the dirty deeds they had done, both tacitly kept them from Jiang Yu Feng.

Hearing Jiang Biehe mention their daughter, Lady Liu's expression softened slightly. After thinking for a moment, she shook her head: "No need. Don't let Yu Feng get involved in matters concerning Godfather and the Eastern Depot. Besides, the mourning period will only last a few days. She's far away at Mount Emei; by the time she gets back, it will likely be over."

Jiang Biehe nodded: "In that case, I won't notify Yu Feng."

Lady Liu nodded.

Just then, Jiang Biehe's disciple, Jiang Dan, suddenly came to report: "Master, Mistress, director Tan has arrived."

Jiang Biehe and Lady Liu were taken aback.

Immediately, Jiang Biehe said: "Please, show him in."

Before long, the two met Tan Tian.

As they were acquaintances, after some pleasantries, Jiang Biehe went straight to the point: "May I ask what brings the director here today?"

Tan Tian replied: "this governor has come for two matters. The first is the Liu Ren Divine Dice. this governor remembers that director Liu asked the Great Hero Jiang to secretly search for the Liu Ren Divine Dice long ago. I wonder if there are any results now?"

Having said that, he stared intently at Jiang Biehe.

Ever since he learned from Old Red Leaf that the person who killed Liu Xi might be from Yihua Palace, he felt the pressure and wanted to improve his Martial Arts.

He had tried looking for Liu Xi's Absorbing Qi Technique Secret Manual, but his search was fruitless. Later, thinking that given Liu Xi's character, he most likely wouldn't have left a Secret Manual behind, he had no choice but to give up.

Afterward, he pondered for a long time and turned his attention to the Liu Ren Divine Dice, though he didn't hold much hope. After all, the Liu Ren Divine Dice had been missing for too long. Liu Xi had asked Jiang Biehe to search for it secretly long ago with no results, so it was likely the same now.

Asking now was merely a shot in the dark.

But what Tan Tian, and even Liu Xi, didn't know was that Jiang Biehe had actually found the Liu Ren Divine Dice!

Although it hadn't been long since he found it, the Liu Ren Divine Dice was indeed in Jiang Biehe's hands.

However, Jiang Biehe had ulterior motives and knew that a Peerless Miraculous Technique was hidden within the Liu Ren Divine Dice. He wanted to use it to change his fortunes, so he had been keeping it a secret.

At the same time, he had studied it for a long time but had yet to find a way to open the Liu Ren Divine Dice.

Mentioning this now made Jiang Biehe feel a bit guilty, but the acting skills he had honed over years of pretense allowed him to control his expression well. Without showing any sign of guilt, he instead put on a look of shame and said: "The Liu Ren Divine Dice has been missing for a long time; Biehe has not found it yet."

Tan Tian hadn't expected much anyway, and seeing no flaws in his reaction, he dropped the subject.

"Finding the Liu Ren Divine Dice was a wish director Liu had during his lifetime but failed to fulfill. I ask Great Hero Jiang to please put in more effort."

Jiang Biehe nodded: "Biehe understands. I will certainly search as quickly as possible and find the Liu Ren Divine Dice soon to comfort director Liu's soul in heaven."

Tan Tian nodded slightly and spoke of the second matter: "This second matter, however, concerns the entire Martial Forest."

"Concerns the entire Martial Forest?"
