35: The power of despair

The streetlights dimmed, flickering on and off.

The shadows on the streetlights also twisted and expanded.

Black spikes pierced through the shadow's skin, and plates of armor continuously filled the skin.

Until a pair of eerie green eyes lit up from the silhouette of the black monster, and that figure also became clearly visible.

"This dark power..."

"Is it D-class, or C-class?"

"It's already beyond my Perception range!"

Lin Ti transformed into light, becoming the Summoner, and so far, he had only evolved once.

The essence of his power was not very strong, and his perception was not exaggerated.

Furthermore, light and darkness were naturally opposing forces, and at this moment, under that dark power, Lin Ti found it difficult to determine the monster's level.

But he could be sure.

This power.

Monsters possessing this power were definitely not comparable to ordinary monsters transformed by monster energy.

This was a true monster race, possessing intelligence.

It was absolutely not something the current Light Armor could face.

The Light Armor, in its basic form, simply could not overpower this monster with its light-based abilities.

Moreover, this monster was of the wood attribute.

The light attribute also could not restrain it.

Lin Ti, unable to communicate with Cheng Yang, could only try his best to issue a warning.

Even without the Summoner's warning, Cheng Yang could feel it.

The monster's aura had changed.

Completely different from its human form.

"Bang!"

Under the violent collision, the concrete ground shattered, and the accumulated water on the ground splashed into the air, turning into a sky full of water droplets.

Brown armor covered its entire body, and its huge, eerie green eyes protruded like an insect's eyes.

Spikes, like wooden thorns, could be seen on its elbows, shoulders, and back.

It did not have the sharp, slender claws of the previous monster; its arms were more similar to human arms, and its claws were also of a reasonable length.

It was about two meters tall, and the claws on its feet were firmly dug into the concrete ground.

Where there was no armor coverage on its calves and waist, there were bulging, steel-like muscles.

Its humanoid claws held the previous green long blade, pointing it distantly at Cheng Yang.

With just a swing into the void.

In an instant, the wind blade sliced through the water droplets in the air, leaving a water mark on the flowing water on the ground.

The ground to Cheng Yang's right was instantly cut with a deep sword mark.

If that previous strike had been aimed at him.

Did it miss?

No, it wasn't.

This guy, he deliberately missed.

Cheng Yang gripped the Light Shadow Sword in his hand, every muscle in his body taut, stretching his tense skin.

It was as if his skin was filled with steel-like muscles.

The Basic Breathing Technique was also pushed to its limit, and the blood throughout his body flowed rapidly as if boiling.

Even his skin began to turn red.

The Light Armor was also fully activated, shining with dazzling light.

Slash!

As the raised golden blade descended, Cheng Yang's entire body transformed into a golden light imperceptible to the naked eye, rushing towards the Wood Monster.

At this moment, everything around Cheng Yang began to split in his eyes.

The road, the flowing water, the streetlights, the plants...

Everything disintegrated and abstracted into rough sketch lines in his eyes, leaving only the Wood Monster.

Clang—

The sound of a blade cutting through the air echoed, the distance between the two instantly vanished, and the blade heavily struck the monster's chest.

It hit!

Cheng Yang was absolutely sure of the sensation from the blade in his hand.

That sword strike just now definitely surpassed any of his previous strikes!

However, when his Minds Eye conveyed the scene before him even faster than his physical eyes, his heart sank to rock bottom.

His unprecedented strike, which had ignited his armor and all his sword skills.

It was stuck on the armor of the monster's shoulder, without even causing the slightest injury.

This guy had no intention of defending or dodging at all.

How could this be...

Cheng Yang gritted his teeth, the armor's radiance did not stop, and the blade rotated, followed by three consecutive stabs!

One sword to the throat.

One sword to pierce the heart.

One sword to stab the brow.

Ding ding ding!

However, only a few crisp sounds of collision were heard; the three consecutive swords were easily blocked by the monster.

At this moment, the Wood Monster didn't even swing the blade in its hand once.

"Ga..."

"Ga ga ga!!"

The monster let out a wild laugh, spreading its arms, welcoming Cheng Yang's attack.

"Have you seen it, kid!"

"This is the true power of my race; under this power, you are nothing but a twenty-year-old brat."

The Wood Monster stood with open arms, letting Cheng Yang's attacks land on it, completely unhindered.

At this moment, he even found his previous caution somewhat amusing.

How could such a weak brat possibly pose a threat to their race?

Such weak power did not require him to deliberately respond.

Seemingly annoyed by Cheng Yang's attacks, the monster slightly raised its blade and swung it down fiercely.

Defensive stance!

In an instant, Cheng Yang's body was violently sent flying, and a golden spark was cut from the armor on his chest.

Bang bang bang!

The world spun before his eyes, and the sound of collisions constantly echoed in his ears.

That was the sound of him being thrown, then hitting the ground, bouncing off, and hitting the ground again!

Until his body bounced again, violently smashing through a pane of glass, being flung into the building, then falling out the other side of the building, and smashing through the concrete ground.

His rolling body finally came to a stop.

"Cough cough!"

Cheng Yang struggled to stand up, his armor flickering erratically.

That was a sign that he couldn't maintain the Basic Breathing Technique and his Shining Form.

"Help!"

"A monster, it's a monster!"

"Ahhh, someone save me!"

"Run, run!"

"..."

The shouts of the crowd constantly echoed around him; the whites of Cheng Yang's eyes had turned blood red as he gripped the Light Shadow Sword, aiming it at the monster's position.

Others could run, could hide.

But he, chosen by the Summoner, had no choice but to run.

Cheng Yang felt that being chosen by the Summoner made him perhaps a little different, a little extraordinary.

He believed he was different from others.

Perhaps this was just his own excessive self-awareness, that the Summoner chose him simply because he was lucky.

Therefore... he absolutely could not run.

Even when facing an unbeatable monster, he absolutely could not run.

He was no longer ordinary, no longer common.

Then he also lost the right to run as an ordinary person.

He would never allow a monster to destroy and harm others before his eyes while he remained indifferent.

While possessing the Summoner and the immense power of the armor.

He also had to bear the responsibility of carrying this power.

No matter how powerful a monster appeared, carrying the power of the Summoner and the armor, he had to face it.
