189: Tang Dynasty - Words come true - Chen Dynasty
At ten o'clock in the morning, Chen Fang arrived at a private room in a high-end restaurant, taking off his mask.
Beside the dining table, a figure turned around, his head even brighter than his, and waved at him.
Chen Fang spoke first, "Long time no see."
Du Yunxiang chuckled, "Come on, if you can go a week without being a jerk, I'll take your surname."
Chen Fang pulled out the chair opposite him and sat down, "A son who wants to take his father's surname doesn't need so many excuses."
Du Yunxiang opened his mouth, his mind raising a white flag, defeated.
After the two ordered their food.
Chen Fang asked, "Has the crew finished filming?"
"No, filming only started in July. Your scenes were shot concentrically, but the entire crew won't finish until at least November."
"You seem to have gained weight."
"It's this hairstyle; it makes my face look big."
Chen Fang took a sip of tea and shook his head, "No, people who are dissatisfied with their hairstyle all have a problem."
Du Yunxiang sneered, "What problem? Do you think this lightbulb-like hairstyle looks good?"
"It's alright." Chen Fang touched his newly grown hair, "The problem is, they don't admit it's a face issue."
"This isn't a face issue for me; it's stretched out." Du Yunxiang folded his arms and leaned back against the chair.
Chen Fang looked at his slightly smug expression and retorted, "Stretched? By your great personality?"
"No, no. When I was young, I aspired to be someone with both wisdom and beauty, but when we sit together, and compare, I have to admit that we each have our strengths. I've only achieved one of them."
Chen Fang took a sip of tea.
Both wisdom and beauty... they each have their strengths, and Du Yunxiang only has one?
Chen Fang put down his teacup, "You're seriously ill, aren't you?"
Du Yunxiang was stunned for a moment, covering his chest, "Oh my, my blood pressure! No, you have to compensate me for emotional distress."
Chen Fang shrugged, "Five yuan, no more."
"I don't want money; I want an autograph." Saying that, Du Yunxiang pulled out two unopened hardcover copies of ghost blows out the light from his bag.
Chen Fang didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "You asked me to dinner just for this? You might as well go ask the director for a photo of us."
"What are you dreaming about? It's not for me; it's for my master. Can you sign them?"
Chen Fang reached out, indicating for him to hand over the books.
What's there to not sign? When he meets fans outside, he has to sign a few. As long as it's not a blank piece of paper or something outrageous and perverse, he can sign it.
Chen Fang opened the flamboyant poster page and picked up a highlighter.
Just as it was about to touch the paper, Du Yunxiang quickly said, "Dongfang, Dongfang, Dongfang, not Chen Fang."
Chen Fang nodded, "Did you buy these books, or did your master buy them?"
"I bought them."
"Then I'll write that I respectfully present them. He should prefer that I bought these books."
"Then you pay me for the books."
"Look at how stingy you are. This meal is on me." Chen Fang signed "Junior Dongfang respectfully presents to Senior" on both books and handed them back to him.
"Your master? Teacher Wu Tao?"
"No, it's Teacher Zhao Guohua from Shaolin Temple. I stayed at Shaolin Temple for four years before."
Chen Fang was slightly surprised.
Having spent two months on the legend of fong sai-yuk set, he had heard that name.
Teacher Zhao comes from a martial arts family, is the 31st generation inheritor of Shaolin Temple, excels in spear and saber techniques, and usually resides in Yu Province.
He once led a delegation to visit over twenty countries and regions for teaching performances, spreading Shaolin Kung Fu overseas, and along with two other masters, was known as the Three Spears of Shaolin.
Last year, he also served as a judge and martial arts consultant for CCTV's 'Kung Fu Assembly'.
He also had some achievements in the political and administrative fields, but Chen Fang was not too clear about that aspect.
Chen Fang asked, "He's usually in Yu Province, right? Has he come to the Capital?"
"Yes, he's collaborating with Capital TV on a show. He just finished filming yesterday and plans to spend the National Day in the Capital before returning after the eleventh."
Du Yunxiang put away the two novels and continued, "When he asked me for the autograph, he told me to relay a message to you: 'Keep up the good writing! Everyone is waiting for the second part, and if you need any help, you can find him, your fan.'"
"Thank you, Teacher Zhao. Please give him my best. I'll definitely pay him a visit when I have the chance." Chen Fang smiled, "But, speaking of which, does Teacher Zhao also know that I know martial arts?"
"He didn't know originally. I boasted about you."
"Why do I need you to boast? We're not even sure who could beat whom."
"I know many masters; I can call for backup."
"I'll lie down and extort you."
Du Yunxiang bared his teeth in disgust.
...
At half past twelve, Chen Fang arrived at the recording studio on the seventh floor of the company, turned on the equipment, walked into the recording room, put on his headphones, got into the mood, and pressed play on the accompaniment.
"moonlight's hue, a woman's fragrance."
...
To be safe, Chen Fang recorded in sections.
"Among a thousand armies, who can be king? Passing through emotions..."
Chen Fang suddenly stopped.
The timbre was inconsistent.
The previous verses heavily used the chest resonance area, and then the chorus suddenly jumped to the head voice area, which was a big leap. His timbre for "passing through emotions" just now was a bit inconsistent with the previous part. Start over.
The operatic enunciation was a bit too stylized; adjust it.
This line's tone is a bit too light; again.
Chen Fang recorded for a while, then rested for a while.
He stayed in the recording studio until six in the evening before he recorded something he was barely satisfied with.
He could certainly sing this song live. But in the recording studio, he just wanted to sing it as perfectly as possible, even though it was just a demo.
Just sing it, he was free today anyway.
After the recording was completed, Chen Fang simply stayed in the recording studio to finish the post-production work and export the pre-mixed version.
...
Eight o'clock in the evening.
Tang Chen was having dinner with Xu Zhengyang, the chief director of the music variety show "Sound Wave New Force."
Xu Zhengyang took a sip of his drink and praised, "Your foresight is truly sharp! You actually contacted him before he clarified things. I'm impressed."
"You flatter me, it was a coincidence."
Xu Zhengyang continued to praise, "Chen Fang's songs are getting more and more impactful. Especially 'cant learn', both the emotion and technique are top-notch; it really is 'cant learn'. Forget about being a guest performer, letting him be a resident judge would be more than enough."
Tang Chen shook his head, "'Sound Wave New Force' should rank among the top three music variety shows this year, right? He still has too few representative works. It would be hard to convince the public if he became a resident guest now."
Xu Zhengyang cut a piece of steak and joked with a smile, "He's so prolific, maybe he'll become a superstar in a few years?"
Tang Chen suppressed the smile at the corner of his mouth, "Haha, not that much. Your variety show is next month. He surely can't come up with another new song this month, can he?"
As soon as he finished speaking, his phone lit up.
Tang Chen picked up his phone and saw an email notification:
[Email from Chen Fang]
[qin dynasty storm soundtrack - 'moonlight' demo]
???
Tang Chen blinked.
What is this? A new song?
"Old Xu, I'm checking an email."
"Hmm, you go ahead."]
