108: Chapter 108 Wang Shoudong Awakens

"What kind of ghost thing is this! Let go of me! Let go—" Heisha's screams grew weaker and weaker until even half his face was dragged inside.

The dark red remnant soul in the Sea of Consciousness completely disappeared, absorbed cleanly by the Lotus Seed without leaving even a trace of residue.

Wang Shoudong's consciousness floated up from the depths of the Chaos.

He saw this scene—that white Lotus Seed that had accompanied him for countless days and nights was rapidly taking root, sprouting, branching, and growing leaves after absorbing Heisha's Divine Soul.

The slender roots plunged into the Chaos, absorbing, purifying, and transforming the surging gray mist and bloody Qi bit by bit into the clear water of the Sea of Consciousness.

The originally chaotic Sea of Consciousness was like a desert into which a seed had been dropped, suddenly gaining vitality.

Wherever the roots passed, the gray mist receded and the bloody Qi dissipated, replaced by patches of mirror-clear water surfaces.

The water surface continued to expand, transforming from a tiny puddle into a shallow lake, and from a lake into a boundless ocean.

In the center of the Sea of Consciousness, the plant growing from the Lotus Seed was no longer just a tender sprout.

It stretched its slender stem, and lotus leaves spread out at the end of the stem. The leaf surfaces were a dripping emerald green, with faint white spiritual light flowing between the veins.

Beneath the lotus leaves, the water surface was crystal clear, reflecting the shadows of the stems and leaves as well as the gradually brightening daylight above the Sea of Consciousness.

Wang Shoudong did not know where this Lotus Seed came from, nor did he know why it took root and sprouted in his Sea of Consciousness, but he could clearly feel that the Lotus Seed was reshaping his Sea of Consciousness.

Those barriers of the Sea of Consciousness, which had been riddled with holes eroded by the bloody Qi, became complete and resilient once again under the combing of the roots.

Those fragmented consciousness shards that had been churned apart gathered, spliced, and healed again under the gentle brushing of the lotus leaves.

The powerful Divine Soul Power belonging to the Foundation Establishment Stage was unexpectedly and completely preserved. Judging purely from the Divine Soul Power, Wang Shoudong at this moment was no weaker than an ordinary Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivator.

Returning from Chaos to clarity was a feeling hard to describe; it was like waking up from a long, long nightmare, finally being able to feel one's hands and feet, finally being able to control one's breathing, and finally no longer being that churned-up mist.

Wang Shoudong stood beneath those lotus leaves, lowering his head to look at his palms, which had condensed into physical entities, and then raising his head to look at the increasingly bright daylight above the Sea of Consciousness.

He slowly clenched his fists.

He had originally thought that relying on that white object could barely keep him alive and prevent him from sinking completely into the Chaos, but he had not expected such a stroke of fortune.

He did not know how all this happened, but he vaguely had an intuition that everything was related to Shouren.

"Brother Shouren, thank you."

In the quiet room, Wang Chongyang's palm struck empty air, his expression changed abruptly, and with a flash of his figure, he rushed into the house.

Wang Yaowen followed closely behind. Seeing Heisha's corpse lying in the courtyard while his son was still lying on the couch, unconscious, he anxiously said, "Sixth Grandpa, was that voice just now not an illusion?"

Wang Chongyang's hand was already pressed against Wang Shoudong's wrist pulse, his brows locked deeply, and a look of disbelief surfaced on his aged face.

Clearly, a Foundation Establishment remnant soul had rushed into Wang Shoudong's Sea of Consciousness. Given Shoudong's current state, even with the assistance of a Soul-Suppressing Talisman, it was impossible for him to withstand this kind of impact.

Yet at this moment, an even greater Divine Soul Power suddenly surged out from Wang Shoudong's Sea of Consciousness.

That power was vast and majestic, full of vitality, just like a giant tree breaking through the soil, growing and expanding at an astonishing speed.

Wang Yaowen didn't wait for the rest and trembled with anxiety, "Sixth Grandpa, how is Shoudong?"

On the couch, Wang Shoudong's eyelids twitched gently.

His eyes slowly opened. Looking at his father and Sixth Grandpa guarding the bedside, his lips moved slightly, and his voice was hoarse and weak, yet exceptionally clear, "Dad, Sixth Grandpa… I'm awake."

Wang Yaowen rushed back to the couch and grabbed his son's hand. That hand was rough and trembling, gripping tightly as if afraid that once he let go, his son would close his eyes again.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but his throat felt blocked by something. His eye sockets turned red, and his lips quivered for a long time before he squeezed out a sentence, "It's good that you're awake, it's good that you're awake…"

Wang Chongyang stood by the couch, but the solemnity on his face did not fade.

He looked into Wang Shoudong's clear eyes, was silent for a moment, and slowly spoke with a hint of caution in his voice, "You say you are Shoudong, but what proof do you have? Soul Possession leaves no memories behind. That Heisha is a Foundation Establishment Stage remnant soul; after swallowing your consciousness, he naturally knows everything about you. Whatever this old man asks you, he can answer. Asking is just asking in vain."

Hearing this, Wang Yaowen trembled all over, his grip on his son's hand involuntarily loosening a bit. He looked up at Wang Chongyang, his eyes filled with struggle.

How could he not have thought of this aspect? He just didn't dare to think further down.

Wang Shoudong, however, smiled.

A very faint and weak smile surfaced on that pale face. There was no anger from being suspected, no anxiety from hastily defending himself, only a clarity and calmness that would only come after experiencing life and death.

He propped himself up slowly against the edge of the bed. This movement left him panting, a layer of fine, cold sweat oozing from his forehead, but he still insisted on sitting up straight. Then he raised his head and looked calmly at Wang Chongyang.

"Grandson understands Sixth Grandpa's concerns. For someone who has undergone Possession, secrets have nowhere to hide. If Dad and Sixth Grandpa want to inquire about past events, asking is asking in vain, because he knows all those things. Since that is the case—"

He raised his hand, pushed aside a strand of messy hair hanging before his forehead, revealing his brow center, and said calmly, "Then I ask Sixth Grandpa to enter my Sea of Consciousness for a look. There must be remnants in the Divine Soul of a person who has undergone Possession; if there is even a shred of trace in Shoudong's Sea of Consciousness, Sixth Grandpa can just strike me dead with one palm."

Wang Yaowen's expression changed abruptly, "Shoudong! You just woke up, your Sea of Consciousness is still unstable—"

"Dad." Wang Shoudong turned to look at his father, his voice very soft yet very firm, "Your son walked before the gates of hell and was pulled back by a white object. Although your son does not know what it is, it can absorb Divine Souls and protect your son's Sea of Consciousness; it is definitely not an evil object. Sixth Grandpa is well-informed and experienced, let him take a look so as to avoid anyone in the clan harboring suspicions in the future."

Wang Chongyang looked into Wang Shoudong's eyes, which were so open and without reservation, and remained silent for a long time.

"Very well. You child walked before the gates of hell, yet you have become more transparent than before." He extended his hand, his withered and thin fingers pressing gently against Wang Shoudong's brow center, "Let this villainous role be played by this old man who is about to go into the earth. Shoudong, bear with it."

A gentle yet majestic Divine Soul Power was transmitted from his fingertips into Wang Shoudong's Sea of Consciousness.
