34: Chapter 34 Underworld Edicts and the Royal Treasury

Over there, Lin Sa had just gotten up and looked at the female ghost lunging at her again, a trace of resolve flashing in her eyes.

Listen to advice, eat a full meal!

She fiercely pulled off the black plaque at her waist and clenched it tightly in her bleeding palm.

Blood seeped into the waist plaque.

"Buzz--"

A strange rhythm traveled from her arm into her brain. She could feel it!

That heavy, dead chain now felt like an extension of her own arm within her perception!

"Underworld Edict, rise!!"

Lin Sa waved her hand violently.

"Clang--!!"

This time, the chain was no longer an inanimate object.

The dark red runes on it suddenly lit up, like a venomous snake that had smelled blood, carving a tricky trajectory in the air, accurately coiling around the Red-Clothed Female Ghost's ankle!

"Got her!!" Lin Sa opened her eyes and roared with ecstasy.

The female ghost's movement stalled, and she let out an angry, piercing shriek, trying to break free.

"Trying to run?!"

Xu Mo had also entered the zone by now. He stopped dodging, gripping his waist plaque tightly, pouring all the vital essence and spirit within him into it, and roared at the female ghost:

"Underworld Edict! Restless soul, kneel immediately!!"

Boom!

The waist plaque erupted with an incomparably pure Underworld pressure.

When the Red-Clothed Female Ghost was struck by this pressure, her soul instinctively trembled, and her movements actually froze. The fierce light in her eyes turned into fear.

The entire scene fell silent.

Those Underworld Soldiers who had been mocking her stopped laughing abruptly, their eyes wide open.

A mortal... actually controlled the Soul-Hooking Chain? And used official authority to suppress a fierce ghost?

On the viewing platform, a sharp light suddenly burst from the previously indifferent eyes of Black Impermanence.

"Interesting."

His fingers moved slightly, and he silently lifted a layer of restriction on the female ghost.

"Roar--!!"

The female ghost sensed the loosening of the restraint, her ferocity flared, and she actually struggled wildly against Xu Mo's pressure, looking like she was about to snap the chain.

Lin Sa felt like her arm was about to be torn off, and she was dragged sliding across the ground: "Xu Mo! I can't hold on much longer!!"

"Lend it to you!!"

Xu Mo's eyes were bloodshot. He understood the logic—this was a contest of energy!

He took a deep breath, frantically circulating the breathing technique from the bamboo slip, forcibly drawing the dense Yin Sha energy from the surrounding air into his body, converting it through the waist plaque, and then channeling it to Lin Sa.

"Kill!!"

Having received Xu Mo's boost, the red light on the chain in Lin Sa's hand surged, instantly thickening by a full circle.

"Die!!"

Lin Sa used the borrowed strength to leap into the air. While mid-air, the chain shot out like a wild python breaking out of its cave, carrying a piercing sound as it fiercely pierced the Red-Clothed Female Ghost's clavicle!

"Thwack!"

A muffled sound.

The female ghost let out a tragic scream, her body instantly disintegrated, turning into a mass of thick black smoke.

That black smoke did not dissipate; instead, it was drawn, split into two, and drilled into the waist plaques of both of them.

A warm current fed back into their bodies, instantly healing the injuries they had just sustained.

"Hoo... hoo..."

The battle was over.

The two collapsed weakly onto the ground, panting heavily, their bodies feeling as if they had been pulled out of water. But their eyes had changed.

It was a ferocity and confidence born from having seen blood, having killed a ghost, and even having 'eaten' a ghost.

Footsteps sounded.

Black Impermanence walked up to the two of them, his tall shadow enveloping them.

Xu Mo and Lin Sa nervously looked up, awaiting his judgment.

Black Impermanence looked at the two disheveled mortals and casually tossed down two small white jade bottles.

"Underworld Nectar. Drink it to recover your strength."

Black Impermanence turned around, his back to them. His voice was still harsh, but the previous contempt was gone.

"You think quickly, and your coordination was passable. Although your movements were ugly, like dogs crawling..."

"But, barely acceptable. You didn't disgrace His Majesty."

Xu Mo held the cool jade bottle, listening to this evaluation that wasn't quite praise, yet it sounded more melodious than the finest music to him.

This meant that in the eyes of this Underworld Marshal, even as mortals, they had already earned the qualification of probationary Underworld Agents.

...

Outside the Imperial Study, the corridor curved.

Pei Fei stood by the window with his hands behind his back, watching the smoke rising from the distant side peak, a satisfied curve on his lips.

"Brother, what are you looking at?"

Beside him, Pei Duo came closer, still holding an unfinished candied hawthorn skewer.

"Nothing, just watching two fools learn to walk."

Pei Fei turned around and dotingly wiped the sugar residue from her mouth.

"Learn to walk? Is it that hard?"

Pei Duo blinked her big eyes.

"You?"

Pei Fei chuckled dismissively.

He gently rubbed Pei Duo's head, his tone carrying an inherent dominance.

"Rough work like fighting and killing is for Xu Mo and the others to do. You are the Eldest Princess; your job is just to be beautiful."

Saying that, he took Pei Duo's hand and walked toward the depths of the great hall, his gaze becoming profound.

"Let's go. I'll take you to a truly interesting place. There are some things you should know now."

...

Pei Fei led Pei Duo through the depths of the great hall, arriving directly in the hinterland of Luofeng Mountain.

Before them stood only one door.

This door was thirty zhang high, cast entirely from unrefined 'Shoushan Bronze,' so heavy it seemed capable of crushing the mountain range.

There were no flashy carvings on the door, only nine bronze evil dragons whose clavicles were pierced by thick chains, squatting motionlessly upon the door panel, exuding an ancient, suffocating pressure.

There were no heavy guards here.

There were no heavy guards here; not even a ghost shadow could be seen.

Because this door itself was a living restriction capable of strangling any anomaly.

Pei Fei walked up to the door. Instead of using any key, he raised his right hand, squeezed a drop of golden, original Imperial Blood from his fingertip, and flicked it.

The golden blood accurately sank into the brow of the leading bronze dragon.

"Rumble--"

The mechanism, dormant for untold ages, exploded with a muffled sound within the mountain belly.

The nine bronze dragons seemed to instantly come alive. Their bronze eyes opened, their bodies slowly writhed, and they retreated to both sides, revealing a pitch-black passage.

"Stay close."

Pei Fei stepped in.

Pei Duo followed closely. As soon as she entered the door, she was stunned by the sight before her. Her feet seemed rooted, unable to move an inch.

This was a hollowed-out mountain belly, vast enough to fit two football fields.

There were no exquisite curio shelves, only mountains of—"junk."

On the left, black ores were piled haphazardly together. Every single piece radiated a coldness that froze the soul, piled up into small coal mounds just like that.

On the right, countless broken swords, snapped blades, and shattered shields were tossed onto the ground like scrap metal, but the dark red malevolent aura flowing over them was a hundred times more terrifying than any BOSS she had seen in the instances.

At the end of the line of sight were rows of crystal compartments suspended in mid-air.

Inside were sealed beating ghost hearts, sections of finger bones radiating sacred white light, and even a few parchment books whose covers had eyes that were blinking frantically.

Golden light and the aura of treasure intertwined; divinity and demonic nature coexisted.

This was the Great Emperor of Fengdu's Royal Inner Treasury!

"Brother... this..."

Pei Duo felt her worldview being shattered once again. She pointed at the pile of 'coal mounds' that looked like roadside stall goods, "What is that?"

"That is 'Nine Nether Cold Iron.'"

Pei Fei casually picked up a piece, tossed it around like skipping a stone, "That dwarf king in the West uses a piece the size of a fingernail to forge a divine hammer. I find this stuff too rough to even use for paving roads."

He then pointed to the pile of scrap metal: "That's residual material from an ancient battlefield. Even though they are broken, taking any one out could demolish that Count's mansion."

This was the height of humblebragging.

Pei Fei did not let her select any 'meeting gift.' He walked to the center of the great vault, the smile on his face vanishing, his expression suddenly becoming unprecedentedly solemn.

"Rise."

Pei Fei formed a hand seal; his previously casual posture was completely gone.

A dark golden light curtain spread out from beneath his feet, instantly enveloping a range of ten zhang.

Complex Dao patterns flowed across the light curtain, completely isolating all external spying, heavenly secrets, and even fluctuations of rules.

The world instantly became quiet.

In this absolutely private space, Pei Fei looked at his sister, his tone serious.

"Duo Duo, you must engrave the following words into your mind."
