81: Chapter 80 Wishes Come True?

Pei Duo felt a chill run down her spine, and the milk tea in her hand suddenly felt scalding.

"Then how do we break the deadlock?" Lin Sa tossed away the top-grade obsidian in her hand, her eyes regaining their usual sharpness. "Since it's an illusion, can I just hack this entire street apart?"

"No. If you start attacking people in a dream, you'll only sink deeper," Xu Mo shook his head, a hint of madness flashing in his eyes. "Against a program with such a dead logic loop, the best method isn't physical destruction, but—overloading its memory."

He leaned closer to the two of them and whispered the plan: "Since it can fulfill any wish, we'll present it with a demand it absolutely cannot afford, cannot calculate, and whose status is far beyond its carrying capacity. We'll put on a grand show with it, and then... watch it crash."

Xu Mo quickly arranged the tactics. When they walked out of the alley again, the 'art style' of the entire Xibalba mutated drastically.

Gold coins began raining from the sky, clanging loudly. The strange fragrance in the air became excessively rich. Lin Sa took a breath and felt the power within her body surging wildly in a way that 'defied common sense.'

"Heroine! Quickly accept this blade!" An old beggar suddenly knelt before Lin Sa, holding a divine artifact complete with five-colored special effects in his arms, crying out dramatically: "This is the 'Twilight of the Gods' I just dug out of the trash heap! If you don't take it, you're looking down on my maya clan!"

Lin Sa looked at the glowing blade, her eye twitching. This sugar-coated bullet was indeed a bit too hard to swallow.

Pei Duo took a deep breath and instantly became a master actress. She kicked away the gold coins on the roadside and, adopting the demeanor of a spoiled young lady, shouted toward the sky:

"Boring! All junk! I want to see my brother! Where is Pei Fei? His own sister is suffering here, why isn't he rolling over to accompany me? I want to see him, right now, immediately!"

As soon as the words fell, the crowd at the end of the street parted like a tide.

That familiar figure appeared out of thin air.

Black hoodie, baggy shorts, flip-flops. Pei Fei walked over with a languid pace, wearing that standard, almost deliberate, doting smile.

"Duo Duo, who made you angry?" The fake Pei Fei approached, reaching out to touch her head, his voice sickeningly sweet: "Brother is here. Tell me whatever you want; even if you want to pierce the heavens, Brother will get it done for you."

Too fake.

Although the real Pei Fei was protective, he would never utter such greasy, domineering CEO lines.

Pei Duo suppressed the urge to slap him and played along, her acting skills soaring: "Brother! You're finally here! You scared me just now. Look at these maya people, trying to dismiss my savior with this cheap stuff. This isn't just looking down on them; this is slapping your face!"

Lin Sa, standing nearby, also cooperated with a cold snort, casually tossing the divine artifact onto the ground, vividly portraying the image of being 'insatiably greedy.'

The imposter hesitated for a moment, then immediately resumed his smile: "It's Brother's fault. Then what does Duo Duo think should be rewarded?"

The fish had taken the bait. Xu Mo stared at the imposter, excitement flashing in his eyes like a hunter spotting his prey.

Pei Duo looked up, her eyes as pure as an angel's, but the words from her mouth were like the most fatal code:

"Brother, rewards are too vulgar. Doesn't our Underworld have the Ten Great Underworld Marshals? Black and White Impermanence are too busy. You should issue a decree right now, appointing Xu Mo and Lin Sa as the new 'Underworld Marshals'! Let them rank among the Immortals, commanding all ghosts—that would have some face!"

Xu Mo's breathing hitched. Here it comes!

This illusion could simulate gold coins, even gods, but 'Underworld Marshal' was an orthodox divine position in the Eastern Underworld, inherently tied to the rules of heaven and earth and Daoist essence.

Making a small, broken server run such high-dimensional algorithms? This move was like forcing a low-end console to run Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K.

"Underworld Marshal?"

The fake Pei Fei froze, a hint of confusion akin to a system crash appearing on his face.

"What? Brother, are you reluctant?" Pei Duo immediately pulled her hand away, feigning anger. "Didn't you say you could even punch a hole in the sky? You're reluctant to give up this small official post? Do you not care about me anymore?"

This fatal 'trick question' clearly triggered the core logic of the illusion—the absolute necessity to fulfill the user's wishes unconditionally.

"Give... of course, I'll give it," The imposter's voice became stiff and mechanical. He stiffly raised his hand, attempting to mimic the action of the Underworld Son of Heaven: "I... in the name of the Great Emperor of Fengdu... decree the enfeoffment..."

A terrifying abnormality occurred at that moment.

When it tried to mobilize the maya rules to forcibly impose the structure of the Eastern Underworld bureaucracy, the entire sky of Xibalba instantly went black!

Large patches of pixelated snow appeared out of nowhere. That wasn't a natural landscape; it was the collapse of the underlying logic.

Zzzzt—!

A piercing electrical current exploded by their ears.

The imposter's hand hung in mid-air, shaking violently. His facial features began to 'move' on his face; his left eye slid below his mouth, and his entire face looked like melting wax.

Zzzzt—!

A piercing electrical current exploded by their ears.

The imposter's hand hung in mid-air, shaking violently. His facial features began to 'move' on his face; his left eye slid below his mouth, and his entire face looked like melting wax.

"Error... parsing... failed..."

"Status... exceeded... carrying capacity..."

Chaotic data turbulence erupted from him. Sometimes it transformed into totems, sometimes it tried to condense into talismans; the two sets of rules fought fiercely within him.

Xu Mo stepped forward, looking down at the collapsing monster, his voice icy: "With your shoddy, counterfeit program, you dare touch the status of the Great Emperor? Do you even know what reincarnation is? Your own divine system is almost dead, yet you dare to simulate the orthodox East?"

"Ah—!!"

With a scream, the imposter exploded like a deflating balloon, turning into a puddle of foul-smelling black sludge.

Immediately afterward, the entire world collapsed.

Gold coins, milk tea, pyramids, cheering crowds—everything peeled away like shattered mirrors.

The originally colorful world was torn open by a gash, revealing the unfathomable darkness behind it.

An intense sensation of weightlessness washed over them. The three felt as if they were falling into a bottomless pit.

"Hoo—hoo—!"

Xu Mo suddenly opened his eyes, gasping for breath, his clothes soaked with cold sweat.

No sunlight, no marketplace.

Before him was still the pitch-black darkness where one couldn't see their hand in front of their face. The air was filled with the smell of rust and mildew. What he stepped on was cold obsidian, not warm flagstones.

Pei Duo and Lin Sa also woke up, the three standing back-to-back for defense.

They discovered in horror that they hadn't moved at all; they were still standing exactly where they were when they first entered the door.

That whole 'sweeping massacre' and 'escape to heaven' had been nothing but a sweet dream meant to make them sink.

The evil spirits and priests were all gone; the room was deathly silent. And next to that tightly shut steel door, there stood a rusty mechanical lever.

The door was right there; pulling the lever would let them out.

However, the finger Xu Mo extended paused in mid-air, trembling slightly.

After experiencing such an extremely real 'paradise,' returning to this cold and fetid reality caused a psychological drop that could crush a person.

Was that lever truly the exit?

Or was it another abyss trap named 'Hope'?
