65: Chapter 65: Just after becoming an S-class wanted criminal, my own daughter called me an old beast to my face?
Su Qing lunged forward, claws bared and teeth gnashing.
She was incredibly fast, carrying the fierce momentum of someone pushed to the edge.
Su Yun didn't even shift his position on the sofa; he just raised his left hand casually, his slender fingers pressing precisely against Su Qing's forehead.
The difference in their reach was fully displayed in that moment.
Su Qing flailed her hands in the air, still a full ten centimeters away from Su Yun's face, unable to reach him no matter how hard she tried.
"Let go of me! Su Yun, you green tea guy! I'm going to tear your mouth apart today!" Su Qing's cheeks were flushed red with anger as she kicked and gnashed her teeth.
Su Yun took a sip of the warm water in his cup, his expression calm. "Mind your manners. Don't forget you still owe me three months of doing the dishes."
Su Jianguo stood to the side, watching his son and daughter bicker, his lips curling upward uncontrollably. He had just regained his Peak physique from his youth and felt an endless surge of raw strength. He even had the urge to walk over, pick them both up—one in each hand—and toss them around for fun.
"Alright, alright, stop messing around." Su Jianguo puffed out his impressive chest, walked between them, reached out to swat Su Yun's arm away, and pulled Su Qing behind him, extremely protective. "Xiao Yun, honestly, you're so old now, why do you keep bullying your little sister? Xiao Qing, Dad will go to your school tomorrow to back you up; I won't let you be bullied!"
Su Qing, still fuming, felt her entire world crumble upon hearing that.
Go to school? Go to hell with that school! If you go tomorrow and check with the teacher, finding out there was no exam and no fight, won't I be totally exposed!
Just as Su Qing was racking her brain trying to figure out how to dissuade her dad from going to school.
On the living room wall, the 85-inch LCD TV, which had been playing the news on mute, suddenly flickered.
Immediately after, "Beep—beep—beep—" three piercingly sharp red alert sounds blared from the speakers, drowning out the argument in the living room.
The variety show that had been playing was forcibly cut off.
The entire screen turned a blinding blood-red.
In the center of the screen, a golden, highest-level shield emblem of the Daxia official Investigation Bureau appeared.
Next to the emblem, a line of text in bold, thick black font appeared: [Special Wanted Order from the Daxia Supreme Command].
Su Yun set down his water cup and turned to look.
Su Jianguo was also stunned. An Investigation Bureau special wanted order forcibly interrupting civilian TV signals was a rare event, something seen only once every few decades. The last time something like this happened was half a year ago when an S-Class terrorist blew up the viaduct in the southern district of Linhai City.
The scene changed.
A somewhat blurry photo appeared on the TV. It was footage captured from a surveillance camera at the port.
In the photo was a man wearing a black trench coat with an incredibly burly back. Surging around him was an extremely dense abyss Black Flame, and standing beside him was another man wearing a silver-white mask; the two stood back-to-back, jointly resisting the brilliant golden light descending from the sky.
At the bottom of the screen, the male host's voice was extremely cold and serious:
"As jointly determined by the Daxia Supreme Command and the Sanctuary."
"The former legendary Monster Hunter of Daxia, codenamed 'Night Owl'. At 14:00 today, at the Linhai City port, he openly colluded with the globally wanted criminal and leader of the Salvation Society, 'Bai Cang'. The two joined forces to resist the joint enforcement action of the Daxia official authorities and the Sanctuary."
"It is now officially announced that Night Owl has completely betrayed the human camp and is classified as an S-Class defector. A kill-on-sight order has been issued across the entire territory. Anyone providing effective information will be rewarded with 50 million Daxia coins."
The broadcast ended.
The screen froze on that burly back burning with Black Flame.
The living room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Su Yun leaned back against the sofa cushion, resting his chin on one hand, the corners of his mouth curling into an imperceptibly subtle arc.
It's here.
He had already seen it outside earlier.
The authorities felt once wasn't enough and had to keep whipping the corpse.
How much hatred is this, exactly?
Su Jianguo stood next to the coffee table, his whole body as if nailed firmly to the floor by an incredibly thick steel spike.
His eyes were wider than copper bells, his pupils trembling violently.
A wanted order?
Betraying the human camp?
Kill-on-sight across the entire territory?!
He, a dignified Monster Hunter, how did he become an S-Class defector?! And, the TV said he colluded with Bai Cang?
Su Jianguo felt a mouthful of old blood stuck in his throat, unable to go up or down.
That madman Bai Cang had insisted on calling him brother, and he had even felt a trace of inexplicable emotion in his heart, even muttering "little brother" in the bathroom just now.
Little brother my ass!
This was dragging him into a pit of fire! He, Su Jianguo, did not have a brother like that!
Su Jianguo's mouth hung open, his face turning from green to white, his chest muscles twitching rapidly due to the intense emotional fluctuation.
"Holy shit!" An extremely shocked exclamation came from the side.
Su Qing pointed at the TV screen, her eyes wide round. She usually tried to act like a good girl at home and rarely cursed, but at this moment, she truly couldn't control herself.
"I knew it! I knew none of these lunatics in the underground forces were any good!"
Su Qing took two steps forward, standing directly in front of the TV. She put her hands on her hips, pointed at the back burning with Black Flame on the screen, and began a highly fluent, face-to-face verbal assault.
"Look! You all look at what he's done!" Su Qing's voice was crisp and loud, echoing in the living room. "This old bastard called Night Owl, he looks like a human being on the outside, but in reality, he doesn't do human things at all!"
Su Jianguo's foot slipped, and he nearly face-planted onto the coffee table.
Old bastard? Doesn't do human things?
He turned his head sharply to look at his own young daughter, his vision going black for a moment.
Su Qing didn't notice Su Jianguo's strange reaction at all.
Her mind was filled with the frustrating scene from last night at the quarry, where this bastard called Night Owl had no martial ethics and slapped her into a deep pit.
Although she couldn't reveal her identity as "Dark Blade", now that the authorities had issued a wanted order, it was perfectly justifiable for her to beat a dog that had fallen into the water!
"Dad, brother! You don't know how bad these people outside are!" Su Qing turned around, looking at the two of them with righteous indignation. "I heard from my classmates that this Night Owl has an extremely explosive temper and likes to act superior just because he has a little skill. He hits people at the drop of a hat, and he specifically bullies young girls! He's shameless to the extreme!"
Su Jianguo's molars ground together, making a clicking sound.
When had he ever bullied a young girl?
"Now look!" Su Qing pointed at the screen again, her tone extremely satisfied. "The fox's tail is showing! Colluding with an anti-human beast organization like the Salvation Society! This kind of scum, degenerate, trash, should be caught by the Investigation Bureau and thrown in jail—no, executed!"
"Pah!" Su Qing spat loudly at the screen. "Old bastard!"
"Enough!!" Su Jianguo finally couldn't take it anymore and roared with extreme rage.
This roar was laced with his newly recovered Peak spiritual energy, causing the glass windows of the entire living room to vibrate and hum.
Su Qing shivered from that roar and turned her head to look at Su Jianguo, her face full of astonishment.
"Dad... why are you yelling?" Su Qing was startled and took a half-step back, feeling a bit guilty. "I'm scolding a wanted criminal, why are you getting angry?"
Su Jianguo clenched his fists, the veins on his arms bulging like coiled dragons.
He looked at his precious daughter, whom he had raised for over a decade.
Every "old bastard," "trash," and "degenerate" was like an incredibly sharp knife, piercing precisely into his lungs.
But he had no way to explain it!
Could he jump up and say, "I am that Night Owl on TV! I didn't collude with the Salvation Society"? Then how would he explain that S-Class abyss Black Flame? How would he explain these muscles all over his body? This was simply a dead end.
Su Jianguo's entire face was flushed red, and large beads of sweat were dripping from his forehead.
"I..." Su Jianguo pointed at Su Qing, his fingertips trembling. After holding it in for a long time, he forced a sentence out through his gritted teeth. "I do not allow you to use such foul language at home! You're a young girl, saying 'bastard' this and 'degenerate' that—what does that look like! Get back to your room and study!"
Su Qing was bewildered by the scolding and pouted aggrievedly.
