32: Ron's guess, fixed pattern

It was the early hours of the morning.

Roan’s eyes narrowed as he fell into deep thought.

“The first path is to wait until I become an Apprentice Knight, then try to buy Alice back with money.”

After becoming a Knight, even the lowest-ranked Apprentice Knight, his strength would see a surge.

By then, even if he couldn’t buy Alice back, he would at least have the power to protect himself and could make other plans.

“The second path is to find a way to abduct Alice from the Saar Family.”

Thinking of this, Roan couldn’t help but shake his head slightly.

This path was even more difficult; at least the former only required money and strength.

The latter, in addition to money and strength, also required detailed intelligence and a flawless plan.

If there were any loopholes in the plan, Roan himself would be trapped, let alone saving Alice.

“So, no matter which path I take, the most urgent task is to quickly improve my strength.”

Roan shook his head vigorously, forcing himself to stop overthinking.

At his current cultivation speed, he estimated he could reach the realm of a high-level Knight Squire in at most ten days.

As for advancing to Knight… Roan thought of the essence fruit Poke had left behind and silently stated a date in his heart.

“Half a month! At most half a month, I will definitely become a Knight!”

Becoming a Knight in half a month was an incredibly fast pace.

Even among the great nobles, it would be difficult for a talented Knight to surpass this speed.

“Besides cultivation, perhaps I can find other ways to improve my strength…”

Roan mused, thinking of the longswords and armor worn by Knights.

The Wild Wolf Breathing Technique he was currently cultivating, though low-level, was very comprehensive.

It could not only be used for cultivation and improving strength but also included a series of combat techniques such as fist arts, sword arts, horsemanship, and spear arts.

“If I could have a suitable weapon and a well-fitted set of armor, it would at least increase my strength by more than fifty percent!”

“If this weapon or armor could reach the level of an alchemical item… then it wouldn’t be impossible to defeat an enemy of a higher rank!”

Roan thought to himself, but alchemical items were unfortunately very rare and precious.

In the entire Hibo Town, all the alchemical items combined might not even amount to five.

It was already very fortunate that Roan managed to get that alchemical mask.

If he wanted to obtain a second alchemical item, especially one that could directly increase combat power, it would simply be wishful thinking… “Wait!”

Roan suddenly paused, remembering the thought he had when he first obtained the alchemical mask.

“If I wasn’t mistaken then.”

“Then, perhaps I really do have a chance to obtain more alchemical items?”

Roan’s expression became strange, and his mind became active.

When he first got the alchemical mask, he had made a guess about his intelligence system.

That was, although the information released by the system every day was different and seemed completely random.

In reality, there was a certain pattern to it.

This pattern was that the information released each day was closely related to Roan’s actions, intentions, or thoughts from the previous day.

For example, when Roan first transmigrated, he happened to have his family property seized by Barto, losing his place of residence, and even eating became incredibly difficult.

Thus, the information released by the system those days was related to how he could survive.

For example, there was an abandoned wooden house in a certain direction in the wilderness where he could stay.

Or on a certain tree, there were bird eggs or berries that could barely fill his stomach.

Later, after Roan’s survival problem was solved, he considered how to get revenge on Barto.

Thus, Roan obtained the path Barto took to inspect the farmland and severely injured him with a beast trap.

Later still, Roan wanted to enhance his strength and become a Knight.

Therefore, he obtained the drop location of the Wild Wolf Breathing Technique and the location of the essence fruit.

“So, if this pattern is correct.”

“Then what I need now is, in addition to cultivation, to obtain things that can improve my strength…”

Roan kept chanting silently in his heart, and gradually only one voice echoed in his mind.

After a long while, Roan finally came back to his senses.

“Let’s see tomorrow if the intelligence will provide hints according to my thoughts and the pattern.”

“If it can, then from now on, this seemingly random daily intelligence might become…”

“A search and Q&A platform, in a sense?”

Thinking of this, Roan’s heart immediately became excited.

After he adjusted his emotions, he continued to look down.

“Mirar, that hussy, is truly shameless…”

“Is Harrington’s novel written anonymously? Otherwise, no matter how bad the writing, it wouldn’t be unread! After all, this is the work of an alchemist master!”

“Are the Thieves’ Guild members withdrawing from Kura City? And are the Knight Order members also disbanding? Will the city gate inspections and night curfews also stop then?”

These last few pieces of information were not of much use to Roan.

So, Roan finally calculated his test plan and then went straight to bed.

The next day, after Roan woke up.

Just like yesterday, after eating, he first took Lisa to school.

Then he returned, tidied up the house simply, opened the shop door, and waited for patients to come for treatment.

After accompanying Litton for a morning, they ate lunch and rested.

In the afternoon, Roan stayed home to mind the shop; if patients came, he would first inquire and record their details.

Litton, meanwhile, went out to treat patients at their homes according to yesterday’s appointments.

Most of these patients were wealthy people from Hibo Town.

They could afford the house call fee, and Litton naturally wouldn’t refuse.

In the evening, after work, Roan went to pick Lisa up from school and they returned home.

After the three of them ate dinner, they each went to rest.

“When the intelligence refreshes tonight, I’ll know if my guess is right or wrong.”

Roan thought to himself; during the waiting period for the intelligence refresh, he wasn’t idle but continued to cultivate his Breathing Technique.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

Gevas led a group of Knights back from the Clear Spring Forest.

They also brought back something: the incomplete, gnawed corpse of Nem.

“Alas… Nem, that poor child, in order to find a doctor for Barto’s illness as quickly as possible, actually took the shortcut through the Clear Spring Forest.”

“As a result, he unfortunately encountered a wild beast and ended up like this. It’s truly heartbreaking…”

In front of everyone, Gevas sighed and lamented.

Some onlookers who didn’t know the truth, seeing Gevas’s sad face, thought he was truly grieving for Nem’s death.

Therefore, they all offered words of comfort.

“Mr. Gevas, please accept our condolences.”

“Yes, please don’t be sad anymore. Perhaps this was Nem’s fate…”
