23: bully others by taking advantage of one's power
“This sword!” Shopkeeper He exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with surprise.
The blade was thin and flexible.
The hilt was made of pure gold.
Seven gems were inlaid on it, making it look very expensive.
“Young Master, are you pawning this sword?” Shopkeeper He asked, curious.
For a swordsman, a longsword was more important than his own life.
No swordsman would casually pawn their sword.
“Not exactly.” Li Changfeng took the Seven Flowers Sword back into his hand.
“Oh? What does Young Master mean by that?” Shopkeeper He didn't understand.
“I just want to pawn the hilt and the seven gems on it.” Li Changfeng revealed the hilt.
“The sword, of course, must remain with me.”
A hilt made of gold.
And seven inlaid gems.
It should be worth a lot of silver!
“So that’s it.” Shopkeeper He carefully took the Seven Flowers Sword.
“Young Master, please allow me to examine it first.”
“Then I can give you a price!”
This sword was definitely not an ordinary item.
This Young Master’s background was probably not simple.
Perhaps it would be better to go with the flow and make a friend first!
“Young Master, please have a seat here; I’ll be right back.”
Shopkeeper He was very respectful, extending his hand in a gesture of invitation.
“Alright.” Li Changfeng nodded.
Both were Errant boyss at Gold Pawnshop.
The way they treated guests was truly vastly different.
With a sudden burst of noise,
guests started walking in in twos and threes.
Little Wu, dressed in a grey robe, bowed and scraped to these guests, fawning over them.
“Why aren’t you leaving, you brat?”
He was truly shameless.
Did he really think this was a place for begging!
He even dared to enter the VIP room!
“The tea is good.” Li Changfeng was quite leisurely.
He picked up the teacup in front of him and took a small sip.
He completely ignored it!
“Little Wu, didn’t you say there was another VIP room?” A guest asked with a dark expression.
“Isn’t someone already here?”
“How about we forget it? I’ll just leave first.”
All the guests had unpleasant expressions.
“Sir, this brat is no guest!” Little Wu chuckled.
“He’s clearly a beggar!”
“Please wait a moment, I’ll kick him out right away!”
You brat, you’re asking for it!
This is what you brought upon yourself!
Little Wu’s tone was forceful, and he clenched his fists tightly.
“Hey, if you want to pawn something, go to the main hall; this room is reserved for guests.” Little Wu walked straight towards Li Changfeng.
“This tea… Tsk, it’s fragrant.” Li Changfeng continued to drink his tea.
The moment the tea was poured, its fragrance filled the air!
A fresh aroma wafted out, bringing a sense of clarity.
“As expected of Gold Pawnshop, even the tea is excellent.” Li Changfeng took a small sip.
Little Wu’s face changed, revealing a fierce expression!
Still pretending not to hear?
Damn it, he was really pushing his luck!
“Why aren’t you getting out?” Little Wu put his hands on his hips and cursed.
“What I just said!”
“Are you deaf and didn’t hear it? Or are you deliberately feigning ignorance?”
Little Wu had lost his patience.
The guests were still waiting.
But Li Changfeng simply ignored him.
“Oh? Are you talking to me?” Li Changfeng sneered.
“There’s only one stinking beggar here, so if I’m not talking to you, who else would I be talking to?” Little Wu snapped.
“A stinking beggar, daring to sneak in here!”
“This gentleman has reserved the VIP room; if you know what’s good for you, hurry up and leave. Don’t make me kick you out!” Little Wu held his head high, pointing at the guest not far away.
“You try it?” Li Changfeng challenged with a smirk.
“A dog relying on its master’s power.”
“Working at Gold Pawnshop, do you really think you’re superior?”
Since ancient times, there has never been a shortage of dogs.
A mere Errant boys.
Could be so arrogant!
Kick me out?
He’d have to see if he had the ability!
“You brat, you’ve got guts!” Little Wu’s face turned livid with anger.
You’re forcing my hand; don’t blame me!
Running into a stinking beggar?
How unlucky!
He raised his hand, ready to slap Li Changfeng’s face.
“Stop!” Someone shouted.
But how could Li Changfeng endure it any longer?
He raised his leg and kicked Little Wu to the ground.
“Bang.”
With a loud thud,
Little Wu fell heavily to the ground, smashing the table beneath him to pieces.
He spat out blood.
“Damn it, he’s really pushing his luck!” Little Wu grunted, badly injured.
“Little Wu, you shut your mouth!” Shopkeeper He moved with light steps.
Can’t you use your brain before doing things!
If this Young Master were an ordinary person, how could he have this sword?
He even dared to lay hands on him; he was truly defying heaven!
“Slap.”
With a dull thud,
a crimson handprint was left on Little Wu’s face.
“Who the hell! Who dares hit me!” Little Wu roared, his eyes red.
“Manager He.” The guests all cupped their fists in greeting.
Young Master He never concerned himself with business matters,
but why had he come to Gold Pawnshop today?
“Manager!” Little Wu recovered his senses, kneeling heavily on the ground, extremely respectful.
“What? I can’t even hit you?” Shopkeeper He questioned.
“Manager, of course not, you’ve misunderstood!” Little Wu showed a look of terror.
Why had Shopkeeper He come?
Wasn't he a hands-off manager?
“You told this Young Master to leave?” Shopkeeper He asked again.
“Manager, this stinking beggar is in the VIP room; it’s against the rules!” Little Wu remained unrepentant.
“Stinking beggar? Against the rules?” Shopkeeper He’s killing intent leaked out.
Idiot!
Did this Young Master look like a stinking beggar?
Shopkeeper He’s anger was ignited.
He raised his hand and slapped Little Wu’s face hard.
Slap! Another crisp sound.
“Manager, why are you hitting me again!” Little Wu’s head buzzed.
“I’m hitting you! Gold Pawnshop isn’t yours; it belongs to the He family!” Shopkeeper He roared, “Treating guests like this would ruin Gold Pawnshop’s reputation!”
“You’re the manager of this Gold Pawnshop?” Li Changfeng was puzzled.
Shopkeeper He was dressed in a dirty robe.
With dishevelled hair and a dirty face, he hardly had the demeanor of a manager.
This person was truly very low-key.
“Young Master Li, who I am is not important. At Gold Pawnshop, I am merely a Errant boys serving you.” Shopkeeper He smiled.
“Manager, I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare!” Little Wu exclaimed in surprise.
Shopkeeper He, the esteemed Young Master of the He family, the richest family in Sword City.
Yet he was so respectful to this stinking beggar?
Bah, no, this person wasn’t a stinking beggar.
But who was he!
“Still wanted to kick him out?” The guests whispered among themselves.
“I think we’re the ones who should leave!”
“When have you ever seen Manager He so respectful to someone?”
This young man was probably not simple.
How could he be as they had just said?
Just a stinking beggar!
“Manager He, we have other matters, so we’ll take our leave now.” The guests said in unison, respectfully bowing.
“Gentlemen, please take care.” Shopkeeper He cupped his fists.
Little Wu knelt on the ground, his body trembling uncontrollably.
He had provoked such a person!
What was he to do?
Little Wu knelt on the ground, not daring to breathe, covering his face with his hand.
“Little Wu.” Shopkeeper He’s face was grim, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
Li Changfeng, meanwhile, leisurely sipped his tea.
