101: Silver Wolf Howling at the Moon
The field fell into a brief silence, with everyone recovering the spiritual energy they had consumed.
After a full hour, everyone simultaneously looked towards the depths of the tomb.
The first obstacle encountered was already so difficult; if there were a few more like it, who knew how many people would remain alive?
But no one retreated. Cultivators who could reach the God-Emperor Realm would not have made it this far without a strong will.
The group activated their warships and moved, heading deeper inside.
After an unknown period, a light suddenly appeared, engulfing everyone.
When they opened their eyes again, they found themselves on a boundless plain.
As far as the eye could see, it was a desolate scene: the ground's vegetation was withered and yellow, the earth was cracked, and the sky was covered by a layer of dark clouds.
Before everyone could adjust, something seemed to be emerging from the mist in the distance, stirring constantly.
The ground began to shake, thumping loudly.
Everyone gazed intently, only to see a colossal figure appear in the mist, its eyes glowing green, as it stepped out.
"It's it!"
Many people roared in anger. What emerged from the mist was a gigantic silver wolf, letting out continuous growls from its throat.
Since entering the secret realm, the Azure Moon Pavilion's warship had been attacked by a silver wolf, and two cultivators in the mid-God-Emperor Realm were directly swallowed by it.
Judging by everyone's reactions, it was clear that many had been attacked.
This was not the end; immediately after, identical giant silver wolves appeared, standing side by side.
Everyone silently counted: "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven."
"Seven wolves!"
There were seven giant silver wolves in total. Their massive bodies surrounded the group at a forty-five-degree angle, their silver fur standing on end like long swords, emitting a dazzling cold light.
The aura they exuded was terrifyingly boundless, and without exception, all were at the Peak Divine Sovereign Realm.
However, in terms of threat level, these seven giant silver wolves were definitely more formidable than the twelve generals and a thousand soldiers encountered earlier.
Although those had a numerical advantage, they lacked intelligence. Compared to the giant wolves, which were not puppets, their threat was naturally much lower.
When everyone saw the seven wolves appear and felt the aura emanating from them, a chill ran down their spines.
Was this the second trial?
Who knew how many people would die this time?
"Woo woo woo!"
The seven wolves let out low growls and vanished from their original positions, transforming into seven afterimages.
"Oh no!"
The warships rapidly activated their strongest protective shields, but some of lesser quality were still torn to shreds by the silver wolves' sharp claws.
Countless wails rang out; perhaps they regretted the decision to enter the secret realm before they died.
The cannons on the warships fired at the silver wolves, but missed, as the giant wolves' speed was too bizarre and swift.
Their movements were difficult to track with the naked eye, so they could only rely on divine sense to lock onto their positions.
"Everyone, battle formation, activate!"
It was the dignified Middle-aged man who stepped forward first, shouting loudly.
The formation diagram flew towards the sky, followed by the cultivators who had previously presided over the grand formation taking their positions.
The grand formation was quickly set up, and a black tiger and an Ape once again materialized. Many people felt a glimmer of hope at this sight.
The giant soldiers encountered in the first trial were defeated by these two demonic beasts using underhanded tactics.
"Roar!"
The black tiger roared, and its dark giant claw swiped at one of the silver giant wolves.
Seemingly sensing the black tiger's attack, the silver giant wolf's green eyes emitted a substantial gleam, and it opened its bloody maw to bite the opponent's paw.
The black tiger shrieked, and its old partner, the Ape, quickly repeated its old trick, thrusting its massive right hand towards the silver wolf's crotch.
The silver giant wolf felt a threat and instinctively covered its lower body with its tail, rendering the Ape's efforts useless.
"Waa-woo waa-woo."
The Ape cried out anxiously a few times. Just as it was about to perform the 'Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl' move, another giant wolf, sensing the commotion, pounced on the Ape.
The Ape immediately struggled in terror, and the one hundred and eight cultivators presiding over the battle formation changed their expressions dramatically. Their previously infallible move had lost its effectiveness.
"Don't panic, watch me!"
The dignified Middle-aged man at the core quickly spoke up, telling everyone not to lose their composure. He chanted incantations, and a robust wild ox demonic beast appeared again within the formation.
It snorted two thick breaths from its nose, its hind legs gathering strength in the air, then it suddenly darted out and gored the giant wolf that was trying to tear at the Ape, sending it flying.
The Ape, freed from its predicament, cried out excitedly. It pulled out a long staff from who knows where, leaped up, and struck the silver wolf from earlier in the waist.
Whether by accident or design, the strike landed precisely on the giant wolf's most vulnerable spot. As the saying goes, "copper head, iron bones, tofu waist!"
The waist is the weakest part of wolf-type demonic beasts, and even this silver giant wolf was no exception.
After being struck in the waist, the giant wolf's aura faltered, and its movements began to slow down. However, its eyes became even fiercer, indicating it would fight to the death.
The Ape cried out in excitement, clutching the long staff tightly, forming a standoff with the giant wolf.
This materialized Ape seemed to possess its own intelligence, a glint of wisdom flashing in its eyes.
If it could win, it was the Monkey King; if it couldn't, it was a dead monkey!
Only the poor black tiger was still having its paw bitten, baring its fangs.
"Moo!"
A wild ox's roar rang out, coming to the black tiger's aid and making that silver giant wolf release its bite.
Even so, this only held back two giant wolves. The other Peak Divine Sovereign Realm cultivators were battling the remaining silver wolves.
Terrifying battle fluctuations erupted across the boundless plain, plowing deep, bottomless cracks into the ground.
Relying on their powerful physical bodies and extreme speed, the five silver giant wolves completely suppressed the situation.
"Damn it!"
A cultivator roared, slashing another sword at the opponent's neck, but it was blocked by its thick mane, only severing a few strands of fur.
This couldn't continue. They had to restrain the opponent's speed.
"Leave it to me."
Another cultivator took out a magical artifact from his embrace. It spun in mid-air, growing larger and larger.
It was a Black Tortoise Seal, transforming to hundreds of feet in size, like a mountain, with wisps of profound yellow energy falling from it. For a time, all the giant wolves' movements began to slow down.
"Good!"
Stripped of their advantage, the silver wolves' threat was greatly reduced, and they growled in furious frustration.
A Yin-Yang Diagram suddenly appeared, seizing an opening, and sliced through one of the giant wolves' bodies, instantly splitting it in half, blood gushing out.
The fat and thin Middle-aged men's faces showed a hint of smugness. Their combined ultimate technique was truly a one-hit wonder; a single misstep, and even cultivators of the same rank couldn't withstand it.
But this seemed to have thoroughly enraged the remaining six silver giant wolves. They simultaneously raised their heads, and a long, drawn-out wolf howl echoed.
The mist in the sky gradually dissipated, revealing a full moon, casting down its bright moonlight.
