100: Chapter 100 System Update, Explosive!

Chen Xu turned away from the window.

He walked past Guan Yi without stopping.

"Let's go."

He headed toward the software development area.

Guan Yi followed immediately.

...

Software development area.

The highest security level office area.

The air was filled only with the low hum of equipment cooling fans.

Yan Yi stood in front of a whiteboard displaying the system architecture diagram.

Chen Xu's footsteps made him turn around.

"Boss."

Chen Xu had no opening pleasantries.

"How is the progress on 'zhoutian' OS?"

Yan Yi walked to his workstation and pulled up the report.

"Underlying architecture, complete."

"Kernel compilation, passed."

"Compatibility layer stress test, finished."

He looked at Chen Xu and gave his conclusion.

"It's ready for release at any time."

Guan Yi stood behind Chen Xu.

She didn't understand the technology, but she understood the last six words.

Chen Xu's gaze swept over the green "Complete" markers on Yan Yi's screen.

"Prepare the OTA system update."

The order was given.

"Push it to all 'stellar' mobile users."

Yan Yi confirmed.

"A beta test push?"

He asked.

Replacing the underlying system for over 600,000 devices at once was extremely risky.

A single bug could cause widespread paralysis.

In the industry, no one dared to do this.

"No."

Chen Xu shook his head.

"The official version."

"Full push."

Guan Yi's heart constricted.

This was too risky.

Chen Xu looked at Yan Yi and added a requirement.

"This update needs to make the users feel a complete transformation."

There was no extra reaction on Yan Yi's face.

He nodded.

"Yes, Boss."

He turned around to face the entire development team.

"Everyone, attention."

"Prepare for final system packaging."

"Initiate the highest level of stress testing."

Thirty engineers immediately stood up from their seats.

No one asked questions.

No one questioned it.

They walked to their respective workstations to execute the order.

Code scrolled across the screens.

Compilation.

Packaging.

Signing.

A brand-new system was compressed into an update package of less than 2GB.

...

Two days later.

1:00 AM.

Across the country, over 600,000 'stellar' mobile users received a system update push at the same time.

[Zhoutian OS 1.0]

The update log had only one line of text.

[A brand new beginning]

A night-shift food delivery rider saw the notification while waiting for an order.

He hesitated.

His phone was his tool; if something went wrong with the update, he wouldn't be able to work tomorrow.

But he remembered Star Technology's battery.

That battery life that never lied.

He clicked "Update Now."

A long-haul truck driver resting at a service area also saw the notification.

Every day, he watched people argue about 'stellar' phones on forums.

A divine tool, or trash.

He used one himself; the battery was invincible, but when he opened navigation too much, it was indeed a bit slow.

He clicked it.

A university student in a dorm had bought a 'stellar' phone only because he was too lazy to carry a power bank.

He looked at the notification on his phone screen.

He wanted to see what kind of tricks this "industrial trash," mocked by the entire internet, could pull off.

He also clicked it.

Update package downloading.

Installing.

Restarting.

The phone screen went dark.

A few minutes later, the screen lit up again.

No startup animation.

No welcome message.

A minimalist, stylish desktop appeared directly.

The delivery rider was stunned.

He tried swiping the screen.

The physical movement of his finger and the visual feedback on the screen were perfectly synchronized.

He opened the order-taking app.

The page popped up instantly.

No loading process.

He quickly opened the map app as well.

Open, close, open, close.

Within one second, he switched between five apps.

The phone's response had no lag whatsoever.

Input commands were executed immediately.

The truck driver also discovered the same changes.

He opened three navigation apps, and simultaneously opened music and news.

He pulled up all background apps and switched back and forth rapidly.

The occasional dropped frames from before had completely vanished.

The P30 processor, in his hands, performed like a flagship chip.

The university student directly opened the large game that had shown lag in previous review videos.

Game launching.

Entering the most complex combat scene.

Smooth.

A constant 60 frames per second, no fluctuations.

"Holy crap?"

He let out an exclamation.

This was not P30 performance.

This wasn't scientific.

Then, something even less scientific happened.

Three people, in different places, subconsciously made the same move.

They tapped on the "Battery" option in "Settings."

The delivery rider's phone, before the update, had 70% battery, with an estimated usage time of 18 hours.

After the update, the battery level was the same, but the estimated usage time was 25 hours.

The truck driver's phone, before the update, had 50% battery, with an estimated usage time of 13 hours.

After the update, the estimated usage time was 20 hours.

The student's phone, before the update, had 90% battery, with an estimated usage time of 26 hours.

After the update, the estimated usage time was 35 hours.

The estimated battery usage time for the phones generally increased by more than 30% after the system update.

On top of the extremely smooth performance improvement, the battery life had broken through once again.

...

The silent night was broken.

The 'stellar' mobile user community, official forums, and major social media platforms.

Exploded instantly.

"My phone is alive! What the f*ck is this? Zhoutian OS?"

"I finished updating and am now just staring in a daze. Someone tell me, why can a system update give my phone ten extra hours of battery life?"

"To the person above, look at the performance! My phone is now faster than my girlfriend's Apple! This is not P30! This is definitely not P30!"

"I declare that all previous videos reviewing 'stellar' phones for lag have become jokes! Star Technology used one OTA to slap everyone in the face!"

"This isn't a system update, this is a generation shift! This is the 'stellar' second generation!"

"Black magic! This is definitely Star Technology's black magic!"

Those posts from two days ago mocking the 'stellar' phone's lagging performance and crude system were flooded by countless users who had updated their systems.

The comment sections turned into a massive spectacle.

"I was wrong, I take back what I said about it lagging. I now declare that the 'stellar' phone is a god!"

"Can someone explain the principle? Aren't performance and power consumption opposites? Why did both improve simultaneously?"

"Don't ask, if you ask, it's because Star Technology is awesome!"

The tide of public opinion completely reversed within an hour.

All previous accusations regarding "imbalance," "backwardness," and "missing features" were pale and powerless in the face of the fact that "performance increased by 50% and battery life increased by another 30%."

Star Technology did not do any PR.

It just pressed a button.

Then, 600,000 users became 600,000 of the most fanatical salespeople.

...

Xingchen Technology Park, temporary office.

Guan Yi took her laptop and rushed into Chen Xu's office.

"Boss..."

She turned the laptop directly toward Chen Xu.

On the screen was the real-time sales data from the official website backend.

That curve, which had already flattened out, suddenly turned upward after 1:00 AM.

At an angle of nearly ninety degrees.

Vertically upward.
