128: The Wrath of the Dragon King (10)
"Good thing." Wang Chen opened his eyes. "The sound of rain can mask our movements."
He stood up and looked at the forty-eight camouflage-painted faces in the cabin. "Brothers, tonight's mission is simple: take down the Snake Pit and capture Reaper and Xiao Yu. But remember, our primary goal is rescue. Intelligence indicates that people who recently went missing might be held on the island."
"Understood!"
"Good." Wang Chen checked his watch. "1:30 AM. Move out."
Vipers Fang Island, third floor of the central building.
Xiao Yu sat on the sofa, holding a glass of red wine, but his expression was grim.
"Reaper, are you sure it's safe here?"
Reaper leaned against the window, observing the night through binoculars. "Young Master Xiao, Vipers Fang Island is a base Hades Hall has operated for ten years. It's surrounded by the sea, equipped with radar, patrol boats, and helicopters. Even if Wang Chen knows where we are, he can't get in."
"But wasn't the Scorpions Nest also claimed to be impregnable?" Xiao Yu's voice trembled slightly. "It vanished overnight!"
Shadow stepped out from the darkness. "Young Master Xiao, the Scorpions Nest was in the desert, which is easily exposed. This is an island, and we have eyes for dozens of nautical miles around. Let alone a person, we'd know even if a fish swam by."
Blood Blade crouched in the corner sharpening his combat knife, adding coldly, "Besides, Doctor has already arranged for backup. The ship will arrive first thing tomorrow morning. By then, we'll head straight to the Middle East. Even if Wang Chen had wings, he wouldn't be able to catch us."
Only then did Xiao Yu feel slightly more at ease, taking a sip of wine.
But for some reason, he kept feeling uneasy.
It was as if something was staring at him from the darkness.
East side of the island, the beach.
Chen Long emerged from the sea with twelve others, like a group of silent ghosts.
There were two patrolling guards on the beach, huddled together smoking and chatting.
"I heard the Scorpions Nest was taken down?"
"You bet. Out of over three hundred people, only forty survived as prisoners. Headquarters is going crazy right now."
"Damn, Dragon Shield is too ruthless..."
Before he could finish, two dark Shadows flashed past behind them.
Crack.
Two faint snaps echoed, and the two guards slumped down.
Chen Long signaled, and the twelve men quickly dispersed, creeping toward the building complex.
West side jungle.
Tiger leaped between tree trunks like a large cat, landing silently.
The team members behind him were also professionally trained in jungle warfare. Over a dozen people moved through the dense forest without making a single sound.
Footsteps came from ahead.
Tiger immediately crouched down, hiding behind a bush.
Two guards carrying searchlights walked over, complaining.
"This damn island, there are more mosquitoes than bullets."
"Be satisfied. It's better than eating sand in the Middle East..."
Tiger waited for them to get close, then suddenly lunged!
With one hand on each, he slammed their heads together.
Thud!
After the dull thud, the two collapsed with their eyes rolling back.
Tiger dragged them into the bushes and clapped his hands. "Done. Keep moving."
Underwater, the pier.
Rabbit and Snake led two small teams, approaching from beneath the sea.
Three speedboats and a small patrol boat were docked at the pier.
Four guards were playing cards on the pier, with beer sitting beside them.
"Pair of Aces! Pay up, pay up!"
"Damn, my luck is terrible tonight..."
Rabbit surfaced from the water and signaled to Snake.
Snake nodded and led six people silently up onto the pier, approaching from behind.
Four daggers were simultaneously pressed against the four guards' necks.
"Don't move, don't scream," Snake's voice was very soft. "Move once, and you die!"
The four guards froze, cards slipping from their hands.
Rabbit led the remaining people to secure the vessels and cut all communication lines.
1:55 AM.
Wang Chen stood on the deck of the fishing boat, wearing night-vision goggles, looking at the silhouette of Vipers Fang Island.
Reports from the teams came through his earpiece.
"Team One in position, outer sentries cleared."
"Team Two in position, jungle passage secured."
"Team Three in position, pier taken, vessels controlled."
Wang Chen pressed the communication button. "Very good. 2:00 AM sharp, commence operation. apache take off, blockade the sea and air."
"Understood."
Two apaches took off from a cargo ship behind the fishing boat. Their rotors had been specifically fitted with silencers, making them almost inaudible in the distant sky.
2:00 AM sharp.
Wang Chen put on his helmet and pulled the rappelling rope.
"Go."
Behind him, eight team members followed as they rappelled down from a transport helicopter that had taken off from the fishing boat, heading straight for the roof of the central building.
Third floor of the building.
Reaper suddenly put down his binoculars, his brow furrowed. "Something's wrong."
"What is it?" Shadow asked.
"It's too quiet." Reaper walked to the window. "The patrol should be changing shifts, but no one is coming."
Xiao Yu stood up abruptly. "What did you say?"
Blood Blade also reached for his weapon alertly.
Just then, a dull thud came from the roof.
Followed by a second, then a third... "Someone's on the roof!" Shadow growled.
Almost simultaneously, the lights in the entire building went out!
It would take ten seconds for the backup power to kick in.
And those ten seconds were enough.
Bang!
The third-floor window was blown open, and Chen Long led his men inside.
"Enemy attack!" Reaper drew his gun and fired.
Bullets streaked through the darkness with flashes of fire, but the Chen Long Squad was prepared, quickly finding cover and returning fire.
Intense gunfire echoed in the hallway as Tiger led his team up the stairs.
"Reaper! Your grandpa is here!" Tiger's voice echoed through the corridor.
Reaper's face turned pale as he shouted to Shadow and Blood Blade, "Through the secret passage!"
Xiao Yu panicked. "Secret passage? What secret passage?"
"Stop talking and follow me!"
Reaper pulled back the carpet, revealing a trapdoor.
Just as the four of them scrambled inside, the trapdoor was blown open by Chen Long.
"Pursue!"
Underground secret passage.
Xiao Yu was panting as he ran. Reaper led the way, while Shadow and Blood Blade brought up the rear.
The passage led to a hidden cave on the west side of the island, where a speedboat was stashed.
"We're almost there!" Reaper shouted.
However, when they burst out of the passage and reached the cave, they all froze.
In the cave, Wang Chen was sitting in the driver's seat of the speedboat, with his legs crossed.
Behind him stood eight fully armed team members, their muzzles aimed squarely at the four of them.
"Good evening, everyone." Wang Chen smiled. "Running so fast, where are you headed?"
Xiao Yu's legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed.
Reaper gritted his teeth and raised his gun to fire.
Bang!
Wang Chen raised his hand and fired a single shot, the bullet accurately hitting Reaper's wrist.
The pistol flew out of his hand.
Taking advantage of the gap when Wang Chen fired, Shadow tried to run behind a large rock on the left, but he was also shot in the leg by Wang Chen, falling to the ground with a scream.
Blood Blade had just drawn his custom combat knife, but the laser sights of eight guns were already locked onto his head.
"I suggest you don't move," Wang Chen jumped down from the speedboat. "Otherwise, the next thing to pop will be your head."
