138: Ancient Demon

Lin Feng picked the last unripe Spiritual Candle Fruit and casually tossed it into his Inner Universe, entrusting it to Little Spirit Ginseng for safekeeping.

After doing all this, he surveyed the vibrant, Spiritual Qi-filled paradise, yet felt little satisfaction.

Although his gains from this trip were not small, the legendary “Lingmiao Garden” was nowhere to be seen.

He then thought, with two Ancient Demons sealed in this Fallen Demon Valley, they must know this place like the back of their hand.

Instead of blindly stumbling around like a headless fly, it would be better to directly ask the “locals.”

With his mind made up, Lin Feng flipped his palm, and two thick stacks of golden Talismans appeared in his hand.

Each Talisman shimmered with 100% pure Divine Thunder of Exorcism power, precisely the [Heavenly Thunder Golden Gang Talisman] produced by the System.

He handed one stack to Nangong Wan.

“Wan’er, take these. If you see anything unclean later, don’t be polite, just throw these at its face.”

Nangong Wan held the thick stack of Talismans, looking a bit dazed.

She blinked, asking curiously, “Just throw them out like this?”

She had just witnessed the power of these Talismans firsthand; a single one could transform into an indestructible golden shield, completely isolating the monstrous Devilish Qi at the valley entrance, its power undiminished even now.

Lin Feng had given her an entire stack, probably over a hundred of them.

What kind of demonic creature could withstand such a barrage?

Lin Feng saw her confusion, smiled mysteriously, and did not explain.

He wrapped an arm around Nangong Wan’s waist, and with a flicker of his body, he brought her out of the spatial rift, returning to the Devilish Qi-filled canyon.

After discerning the direction, Lin Feng transformed into a streak of light, flying directly towards the Seal of one of the Ancient Demons.

Soon, an enormous stone gate appeared before the two.

In front of the stone gate, a giant beast the size of a small mountain lay prostrate.

This beast was entirely crimson, its skin covered in rock-like wrinkles, and magma seemed to flow within its pulsating throat sac.

A pair of lantern-sized eyes stared fixedly at the unexpected duo.

“A Fire Toad Beast in the Transformation Stage,” Nangong Wan said softly, her expression slightly solemn.

Lin Feng, however, was seeing such a giant toad for the first time, and he looked it up and down with great interest.

“Croak!”

Seeing that the two not only didn’t retreat but dared to approach, the Fire Toad Beast immediately let out an earth-shattering roar.

A wave of scorching sound mixed with a foul Demonic Qi swept towards the two.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow, slightly displeased.

He originally did not wish to kill this Spirit Beast, which had cultivated with difficulty, but seeing its ferocity, he was too lazy to communicate with it further.

He extended a finger, and a cluster of azure flames danced on its tip.

“Go.”

He softly uttered a single word.

That cluster of Azure Blue Ice Flame instantly surged, transforming into a vast net woven from countless delicate ice threads, covering the Fire Toad Beast from above.

The Fire Toad Beast sensed danger, opened its massive mouth, and spat out a thick crimson pillar of fire.

However, that demonic fire, capable of melting gold and iron, instantly encountered its nemesis upon contact with the blue ice net, hissing and being directly frozen into a giant red ice pillar, suspended in mid-air.

A hint of horror flashed in the Fire Toad Beast’s eyes, and its massive body abruptly leaped backward, attempting to dodge.

But the ice net’s speed far exceeded its imagination, following like a shadow, instantly covering its enormous body.

“Croak…”

The Fire Toad Beast only managed to let out a short, mournful cry before being completely frozen into a crystal-clear blue ice sculpture, even the terrified expression on its face vividly preserved.

Lin Feng beckoned towards the ice sculpture, and the massive ice sculpture quickly shrunk, transforming into a stream of light that he collected into his Inner Universe.

“This beast is fierce; it’s suitable for guarding the mountain gate of Falling Cloud Sect,” he said casually.

Nangong Wan watched from the side, a little dumbfounded.

A transformed great demon with strength comparable to a Nascent Soul Middle Stage Cultivator was easily suppressed by Lin Feng with a mere flick of his finger.

To what unfathomable extent had her Dao Companion’s strength reached?

Having subdued the gate-keeping Spirit Beast, Lin Feng’s gaze fell upon the enormous stone gate.

The gate was covered with intricate Demonic Path runes, and the power of Restrictions flowed ceaselessly.

He merely glanced at it and had already grasped its intricacies.

Lin Feng was even too lazy to act personally; with a wave of his hand, several black rods flew out from his sleeve, precisely embedding themselves into several key nodes of the Restriction.

Buzz!

The demonic light on the stone gate flickered violently for a moment, then, like a lamp running out of energy, quickly dimmed.

After a few breaths, with a creaking sound, the heavy stone gate opened inward by itself.

The entire process was smooth and effortless.

Nangong Wan watched, her beautiful eyes sparkling with admiration.

“Lin Feng, I hadn’t even figured out the trick of this Restriction, and you’ve already broken it.”

Such Formation mastery was simply incredible.

Lin Feng turned his head, smiling as he pinched her cheek.

“If I didn’t have this much capability, how could I have the nerve to be your Dao Companion?”

Nangong Wan’s pretty face flushed, and she gently swatted his hand away, chiding, “Smooth talker.”

Despite her words, the love and adoration in her eyes grew even stronger.

The two walked hand in hand into the great hall.

The hall’s interior was extremely vast, with a hundred-zhang-tall demonic god statue enshrined in the center, possessing three heads and six arms, and a ferocious countenance.

Below the statue was a neat row of offering altars.

Just like in the original work, the altars glowed with shimmering light and emitted a powerful aura, displaying a dazzling array of treasures.

There were Flying Swords shimmering with five-colored light, ancient Spirit Treasures emitting astonishing Spiritual Pressure, and bottles of Medicinal Pills, contained in fine warm jade, exuding a rich medicinal fragrance.

“Heavenly Spirit Treasures! And so many ancient Medicinal Pills!”

Nangong Wan couldn’t help but exclaim at the sight before her.

Any single item here, if taken out, would be enough to stir up a bloody storm in the cultivation world of Tiannan.

But Lin Feng’s expression remained as calm as an ancient well; he didn’t even glance at the so-called treasures, his gaze calmly fixed on the enormous demonic god statue.

Seeing this, Nangong Wan also suppressed the shock in her heart and followed his gaze.

She quickly noticed something was amiss.

Although the statue was made of stone, its eyes seemed to possess a vitality found only in living beings, scrutinizing them from above.

“Playing tricks.”

Lin Feng snorted coldly and flicked his finger.

A [Heavenly Thunder Golden Gang Talisman] transformed into a golden lightning bolt, tearing through the air, and struck directly at the statue’s head.

Just as the golden lightning was about to hit the statue, an anomaly suddenly occurred!

The massive stone statue suddenly came to life, its enormous body dodging sideways with an agility completely unsuited to its size.

Boom!

The golden lightning struck empty space, leaving a bottomless charred black hole on the ground, with countless tiny electric arcs darting around.

As the statue moved, the dazzling array of altars and treasures in the hall, like reflections in a mirror, instantly vanished without a trace.

In the empty hall, only a hundred-zhang-tall, three-headed, six-armed Ancient Demon, radiating monstrous Devilish Qi, remained, its six eyes on its middle head staring fixedly at Lin Feng.

“An illusion…” Nangong Wan felt a surge of lingering fear.

If she had come alone and seen so many treasures, with even a slight lapse in her mental guard, she might have fallen prey to the illusion, with unimaginable consequences.

She subconsciously leaned closer to Lin Feng, gripping the stack of Talismans in her hand.

“Human Race Cultivator?” The Ancient Demon’s voice, like the friction of metal, echoed through the hall, carrying a hint of surprise and doubt.

“A mere Nascent Soul Early Stage, yet able to see through my illusion, and even produce such pure Yang Thunder Talismans that restrain Demonic Techniques, how interesting.”

His six eyes simultaneously scrutinized Lin Feng, as if trying to see through him completely.

Lin Feng, however, was too lazy to waste words with him; he merely looked at the awakened Ancient Demon with amusement, then turned his head and whispered to Nangong Wan:

“Wan’er, do you remember what I just told you?”

“Throw them at him!”

Nangong Wan understood instantly.

She looked at the Ancient Demon, radiating terrifying Spiritual Pressure in mid-air, without the slightest fear in her heart.

The Ancient Demon was still pondering whether these two seemingly low-cultivation Human Race Cultivators still possessed Thunder Talismans of such power.

The next moment, he witnessed a scene that made his demonic soul tremble.

The enchanting female Cultivator raised her jade hand.

A deluge of golden Talismans, like a golden downpour, obscured the entire hall, pouring down upon him!

“No—!”

The Ancient Demon’s ferocious face was instantly replaced by extreme terror, and he let out a shrill shriek.

His face had even gone pale with fright.
