Seeing Lin Feng’s silence, the two felt a bit anxious.

Lin Feng closed the book, breaking the deathly silence in the room.

After a long while, he suddenly smiled and praised, “Good, what a Formation genius!”

“With your Qi Refining sixth-layer cultivation, to have such a concept and create the prototype of such a complex grand Formation, you truly possess one-in-ten-thousand talent.”

Qi Yunxiao and Xin Ruyin both felt relieved upon hearing this.

However, Lin Feng’s tone shifted, and he lightly tapped his finger on the book “One Hundred Solutions to Formations.”

“It’s just that, while the concept of this Five Elements Inversion Array is good, it is ultimately theoretical. There are still dozens of errors in the Spiritual Qi circulation nodes, and the arrangement of the Formation Flags is too idealized, with too many constraints in actual combat.”

With that, he flipped his wrist, and a shimmering Formation Plate appeared in his palm.

On the Formation Plate, five-colored light flowed, Spiritual Qi permeated, and countless intricate runes intertwined to form an incredibly profound pattern, as if containing the ultimate truths of Heaven and Earth.

“You, take a look.”

Lin Feng handed over the Formation Plate.

Qi Yunxiao and Xin Ruyin were both individuals who studied Formations, and with just one glance, they recognized that this was the complete form of the Five Elements Inversion Array!

Qi Yunxiao leaned closer, feeling dizzy. The complex structure and Spiritual Qi flow made his head spin, and he couldn’t understand any of the profound points within it.

As for Xin Ruyin, the moment she saw the Formation Plate, her entire body froze.

Her originally dim eyes suddenly burst forth with unprecedented light, staring intently at the Formation Plate, as if her Divine Soul was being drawn into it.

That’s right! This is it!

So that node should connect like this!

This Spiritual Qi transformation can actually be so ingenious!

The problems she had pondered for countless days and nights without a solution suddenly became clear the moment she saw this complete Formation Plate!

“I never thought… Senior is not only a Great Master of Alchemy, but also so proficient in the Dao of Formations!”

Qi Yunxiao exclaimed sincerely from the side, his gaze towards Lin Feng having changed from awe to admiration.

But with Senior being so proficient in Formations, how could he possibly value Miss Ruyin’s Formations? Qi Yunxiao felt a bit troubled.

Just then, Xin Ruyin’s voice suddenly rang out.

“Senior!”

She disregarded her weak body, struggled to turn over from the bed, and knelt down, her forehead deeply pressed against the brocade quilt, her voice incomparably devout.

“May… Ruyin be accepted!”

Lin Feng was startled upon hearing this, and then immediately understood her meaning.

Oh, so it’s about taking her as a disciple…

But his expression remained calm.

“Your Formation talent is indeed good, but you possess the Dragon’s Roar Body. I am not entirely confident I can completely cure this Physique.”

He paused, his voice becoming somewhat cold.

“Moreover, if you wish to cultivate with me, you must travel to my Sect, which is a long and arduous journey from here. In this life, you might never see your… confidant again.”

His gaze swept over Qi Yunxiao at the side.

“Are you willing?”

Xin Ruyin’s already pale face became even paler after hearing this.

She instinctively raised her eyes and glanced at Qi Yunxiao beside her.

To her surprise, Qi Yunxiao’s face showed no reluctance at all; instead, he revealed a hint of unconcealed joy.

Xin Ruyin’s heart completely sank at this moment.

She withdrew her gaze, bowed deeply again, her voice resolute.

“Senior, this humble girl has little time left. If I can learn the Dao of Formations under Senior’s tutelage and fall while pursuing this Dao, it would not be a wasted life.”

She raised her head, her clear, cold eyes looking directly at Lin Feng, and spoke word by word.

“As for Young Master Qi, he and I are merely fellow enthusiasts of the Dao of Formations.”

Lin Feng looked at the determination in her eyes, nodded, and didn’t expect these two to be so decisive.

“Since that is the case, you should rest for a night and arrange your trivial matters. Tomorrow, you will return to the Sect with me.”

Before he finished speaking, he flicked his finger, and a shimmering Spiritual Plant with roots as complete as Dragon whiskers flew out, landing steadily on the table.

“This is a Thousand-Year Snow Ginseng. Take it first to temporarily harmonize the Yin and Yang Qi within your body.”

Then, his figure flickered, and he drifted away, leaving only the lingering scent of medicine and the two of them in the room.

Qi Yunxiao walked to the table, picked up the Thousand-Year Snow Ginseng, and felt the majestic Spiritual Qi within it.

“This Senior is truly generous!”

He turned his head and said to Xin Ruyin with a joyful expression.

“Miss Ruyin, you have truly been taken in by a Master this time! Your future prospects are limitless!”

Qi Yunxiao was an optimistic person and quickly accepted this outcome, genuinely happy for Xin Ruyin’s future.

Xin Ruyin forced a faint smile, nodded, and lowered her eyes, her mind wondering what she was thinking.

The next day.

The Azure Jade Flying Boat pierced through the clouds, fast as a streak of light.

Xin Ruyin had changed into a clean, plain white long dress and sat quietly at the tail of the flying boat, looking at the white-robed figure meditating ahead, her gaze complex. (with image)

After a night of rest, the medicinal power of the Thousand-Year Snow Ginseng had greatly improved her complexion, but the sorrow between her brows had not dissipated.

She hesitated for a long time, finally speaking softly, with a hint of probing.

“Master, may I ask… which Sect are we going to?”

Lin Feng did not turn his head, his voice came calmly.

“There is no need to call me Master. I have not fulfilled the responsibilities of a Master, and cannot accept that title.”

“I am a Cultivator of Huangfeng Valley, one of the Seven Sects of Yue State. My Immortal Cave is within the Taiyue Mountain Range.”

Huangfeng Valley… Taiyue Mountain Range…

Xin Ruyin silently repeated the names in her heart, committing them firmly to memory.

Not long after, a continuous mountain range appeared in front of the flying boat, shrouded in mist and exuding potent Spiritual Qi.

The flying boat did not pause at all, passing directly through an invisible light barrier and steadily descending halfway up a mountain peak, in front of an Immortal Cave.

Xin Ruyin stepped off the flying boat, her heart filled with shock as she looked at the enormous Immortal Cave enveloped by a Restriction light barrier.

Just as she was in a daze, Lin Feng suddenly reached out and took her wrist.

“Ah! Master… Senior…”

A warm sensation came from her wrist, and Xin Ruyin trembled all over, startled and wanting to pull her hand back, but it was firmly held.

Lin Feng’s expression was serious, as if he was doing something perfectly normal.

“This Immortal Cave Restriction requires contact with me for me to control it with Divine Thought, allowing you to enter safely.”

He pulled her, stepping into the Restriction light barrier.

Xin Ruyin only felt a flash of light before her eyes, and she was already inside the Immortal Cave; the Restriction had not offered the slightest resistance.

A hint of doubt arose in her heart, but she dared not think too much, only responding in a low voice.

“So that’s how it is… Senior is truly amazing.”

Lin Feng released her hand and led her into the main hall.

The hall was elegantly furnished, with stone tables and chairs readily available, and a faint scent of sandalwood permeated the air.

“Young Master! You’re back!”

A clear and pleasant voice rang out, and a beautiful woman in a emerald-green long dress quickly walked out from the side hall. It was Han Yunzhi.

When she saw Xin Ruyin behind Lin Feng, her steps paused, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

“Ah… this is?”

Lin Feng introduced her naturally, “Yunzhi, this is Fellow Daoist Xin Ruyin. She is a friend I met while traveling in Yue State. Her Physique is somewhat special, and she needs to temporarily stay here to recuperate.”

Fellow Daoist?

Xin Ruyin’s heart stirred upon hearing this address. Being as intelligent as she was, she immediately had a vague guess about Lin Feng’s intentions.

Han Yunzhi was also a clever and perceptive woman. Seeing that Lin Feng seemed to have private matters to discuss, she obediently poured Spiritual Tea for the two of them, bowed, and then quietly withdrew.

Only after Han Yunzhi left did Lin Feng speak.

“Miss Ruyin, there are still several empty quiet rooms on the left side of this Immortal Cave. You may choose any one you wish.”

With that, he waved his hand, and two bulging Storage Pouches and several Formation Plates appeared on the stone table.

He pointed to the Storage Pouches and said, “These two Storage Pouches, one contains Spirit Medicine, and the other contains various Formation Materials, enough for you to use for several years.”

He then pointed to the several Formation Plates.

“These Formations were created by me in my early years. You can study them carefully.”

“On normal days, if you want to go out for some fresh air, go to the quiet room on the right and find Yunzhi. She will take you out.”

“I still need to enter seclusion to prepare for my Nascent Soul Formation, so I won’t accompany you further.”

However, before Xin Ruyin could speak, Lin Feng’s figure flashed in his seat and disappeared into thin air, leaving only an echoing voice in the hall.

“If you gain any insights, you may come to my quiet room to find me.”

Xin Ruyin stared blankly at the empty seat, then at the two heavy Storage Pouches on the table, feeling somewhat dazed for a moment.

She picked up one Storage Pouch and extended her Divine Sense into it.

It was filled to the brim with Thousand-Year Spirit Medicine and various rare Medicinal Pills, their value so immense that it could drive a Cultivation Family insane!

She picked up the other Storage Pouch.

Inside were mountains of rare Formation Materials, many of which she had only seen in ancient texts and never even heard of.

Finally, her gaze fell upon the several finished Formation Plates.

With just one glance, she became immersed in them.

The perfection of the Formation structure and the smoothness of the Spiritual Qi circulation were simply flawless. Compared to them, the concepts in her own “One Hundred Solutions to Formations” were simply too crude to behold.

Senior was so generous to her, yet unwilling to explicitly take her as a disciple, instead addressing her as “Fellow Daoist”…

Xin Ruyin was an incredibly clever and intelligent person. Connecting all these pieces, how could she not understand what Lin Feng wanted?

“Sigh…”

A soft sigh escaped her lips, carrying three parts helplessness, three parts self-mockery, and four parts of an indescribable complex emotion.

She put away the items on the table, hugged the several Formation Plates, and walked towards the quiet room on the left.

Xin Ruyin is a very smart and likable character in the original work, and I really can’t write her as being forced.

Following Lin Feng to pursue the Dao of Formations, this shouldn’t be considered a character break, right?

The next chapter will be that, and then prepare to teach Dong Xuan’er a lesson. After that, we’ll enter the Chaotic Star Sea ~
