327: Dark Cave

The Guardian Alliance cautiously stepped into the cave. The light inside was dim, with black crystals embedded in the walls emitting a cold, eerie glow that barely illuminated the path ahead. As they ventured deeper, the oppressive dark magic grew heavier, as if an invisible giant hand was tightly clutching everyone's hearts.

"Everyone, stay alert and be ready for any sudden situations," Xiao Xing said in a low voice. He walked at the very front, his longsword trembling slightly as if responding to the restless dark power around them.

After traveling some distance, the cave branched off into several tunnels leading in different directions. Faint ripples of magic wafted from each tunnel, making it difficult to distinguish the correct path.

Ji Ziyue cast a detection spell. The magical glimmer flickered and moved across the entrances of each tunnel, attempting to find the one with the densest dark magic. After a moment, she pointed to the tunnel on the right and said, "The magic fluctuations here are the strongest. I feel that the source of that dark power should be in this direction."

The group continued deeper along the right-hand tunnel. Along the way, they encountered many traps: some were sharp bone spikes suddenly emerging from the ground, while others were rays of dark magic shot from the walls. Fortunately, the Guardians were experienced and coordinated well, narrowly avoiding them time and again.

Finally, a vast space appeared at the end of the tunnel. In the center stood an ancient altar with a large Black Orb placed upon it. The surface of the orb was covered in complex runes, and it continuously released dark magic into its surroundings. This magic, like threads, seeped into the nearby rocks and soil, seemingly establishing a connection with the entire Abyss of the Dark Night.

Around the altar stood several Black-Robed Figures. They were chanting around the orb as if performing a final ritual, attempting to completely open the passage connecting to the Dark World.

"You really are here! Don't even think about succeeding!" Xiao Xing shouted, charging toward the Black-Robed Figures first and breaking the eerie silence of the space.

The Black-Robed Figures were startled by the sudden shout, but they quickly regained their footing, stopped the ritual, and turned to launch attacks at the Guardians. For a time, dark magic and Light Magic collided, and brilliant lights intertwined and flashed within the dim space as the sounds of battle echoed throughout the cave.

Xiao Xing fought with a powerhouse among the Black-Robed Figures. Every time their weapons clashed, a powerful burst of magic erupted, causing the surrounding air to ripple in layers. Ji Ziyue stood at the back, casting Light Magic to heal injured companions while releasing beams of Purifying Light to block the enemies' magical attacks and weaken their dark magic. Yin Ping led the other Guardians, weaving through the Black-Robed Figures to find openings and deliver unexpected strikes.

However, the strength of these Black-Robed Figures was not to be underestimated. Knowing that this operation could not afford failure, they all fought with everything they had, and the battle fell into a temporary stalemate.

During the fierce battle, Xiao Xing discovered that the Black Orb on the altar was the key to the entire ritual. If they destroyed it, they might be able to sever the connection with the Dark World and prevent the passage from being opened.

"Everyone, find a way to destroy that orb!" Xiao Xing shouted to his companions.

Understanding his intent, the group continued to fight the Black-Robed Figures while moving closer to the altar. However, the Black-Robed Figures also noticed the Guardians' intention. Some of them split off to form a defensive formation, stubbornly guarding the altar to prevent the Guardians from finding an opening.

Seeing this, Yin Ping came up with a plan. She signaled to several Guardians with high agility nearby, then feigned a strong attack on the left side of the Black-Robed Figures to draw their attention. Meanwhile, those few Guardians took the opportunity to circle behind the Black-Robed Figures and launch a surprise attack on the altar.

The Black-Robed Figures hadn't expected this move, and for a moment, they were thrown into chaos, leaving a gap in their rear defenses. The Guardians seized the chance and threw specially made magical weapons at the Black Orb. The magical weapons struck the orb, emitting a burst of dazzling light, and several cracks appeared on its surface.

Upon seeing this, the Black-Robed Figures' expressions changed drastically. They lunged frantically toward those Guardians, trying to stop them from continuing to attack the orb. The Guardians resisted with all their might, and both sides fell into an even more intense melee.

Ji Ziyue saw her chance. Concentrating all her magic, she cast a super-powered Purification Magic, and a massive pillar of white light shot toward the Black Orb. The power of light contained within the pillar was incredibly strong, clashing violently with the dark magic on the orb. Under this impact, the cracks on the orb continued to expand.

Xiao Xing also broke free from his opponent's entanglement and rushed toward the orb. Gathering all his strength, he thrust his longsword fiercely into one of the cracks on the orb.

With a loud boom, the Black Orb finally could not withstand the successive attacks and exploded. Powerful light energy instantly filled the entire space, sweeping away the remaining dark magic. The Black-Robed Figures were struck by this power, spitting blood as their bodies swayed, losing their ability to fight further.

The Guardians pressed their advantage and subdued all the Black-Robed Figures.

In this battle, the Guardian Alliance once again succeeded in thwarting the Dark Forces' plot through their tenacious will and coordinated teamwork. But as they looked at the shattered orb, they understood in their hearts that this was just another victory in the long struggle against the Dark Forces. The enemy would certainly not give up, and more conspiracies would surely brew in the shadows.

"Let's return to the headquarters first. We'll go back and properly summarize the situation, re-examine the clues, and strengthen our defenses. As long as we are here, we will never allow the dark power to touch our continent," Xiao Xing said firmly. Supporting each other, the group slowly left the dangerous cave and set off on the journey back to the Alliance Headquarters.
