377: Chapter 377 The Destruction of Gejiang City!

Every Evolved Beast in the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone was convinced; with the Tiger King present, they could surely lead the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone onto the path of invincibility.

They had that confidence.

"No, please, I beg you, spare me."

A man, being treated as food, wept bitterly. His companions around him were being torn apart one by one, blood spraying everywhere; this scene deeply traumatized him.

Everything that had happened over this period was like Hell. Their city had been suddenly breached by Evolved Beasts, countless people had died in battle, and they were left isolated and helpless.

Immediately afterward, countless Evolved Beasts flooded into the city, killing everyone they saw, eating as they killed. Rivers of blood flowed, and corpses littered the ground.

He was lucky enough to have dodged the first wave of attacks, but he had still not escaped; he was captured by the Evolved Beasts and kept in captivity as fresh meat.

"Hahaha, fresh humans are still the most delicious."

"I can't wait to feast."

An ape-type Evolved Beast grew even more excited at this sight, reached out with a large hand to grab the man, shoved him into its mouth, and bit down hard. Blood splattered, flesh was mangled, and the man's voice came to an abrupt end.

"Tiger King, there is a matter."

"An envoy from the Ocean Evolved Beasts has been sent, saying that the Ocean Beast King behind them has an important matter to discuss with you. Should you see them or not?"

A fourth-order Evolved Beast spoke slowly at this moment, and upon hearing this, the Tiger King's massive forehead furrowed slightly.

"Why are those Ocean Evolved Beasts looking for me?"

"My Huangjiang Forbidden Zone and the ocean lands have always minded their own business; what could they possibly need from me?"

The Tiger King muttered. However, to say there was no connection would not be entirely accurate; the Huangjiang River eventually flowed into the ocean, but that was the only connection they had.

"I suspect it has something to do with humans."

"After all, I've heard from the captured humans that not long ago, the Ocean Evolved Beasts launched an attack on the human battlefield, but it ultimately failed, suffering heavy losses with three Beast Kings killed."

The Giant Crocodile Beast King beside him spoke up, and the Tiger King's mind stirred slightly, nodding in agreement.

"Fine, let it come over."

"I want to see what this Ocean Evolved Beast is really up to."

The Tiger King also had his own thoughts. On this land, humans had always been their enemies; if they could leverage the power from within the ocean, then humans would not be able to hold out for much longer.

Lu Zheng was unaware of what was happening in the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone at this moment. After leaving Ningfeng Valley, he headed in the direction of the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone as per his memory.

His terrifying body left deep trails across the earth.

However, what puzzled Lu Zheng was that, apart from Ningfeng Valley, he had not seen any other Evolved Beasts; this was somewhat strange.

But Lu Zheng had overestimated himself. After traveling for a while, he was shocked to discover that he was lost.

Originally, Lu Zheng had just been heading towards the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone following the direction of the map in his memory, but now, after the great upheaval of heaven and earth, the locations of various places had changed.

His massive snake head rose high, looking around blankly. There were no prominent buildings or landmarks, just a desolate, uninhabited expanse that stretched as far as the eye could see.

"Where on earth have I ended up?"

Lu Zheng felt somewhat helpless. If his main body were here, he might have been able to fly into the sky to find his bearings, but his Clone could only stare blankly here.

Still, Lu Zheng followed his intuition and headed in one direction. His speed was extremely fast, causing the very surface of the ground to tremble continuously.

But soon, Lu Zheng controlled his Clone to stop and looked into the distance. It wasn't that he had arrived at the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone, but rather that he smelled a sky-high stench of blood.

This smell was so intense that Lu Zheng could still smell it from a great distance away.

As for why he said it was from a great distance away, it was because a human city had suddenly appeared within Lu Zheng's line of sight. To Lu Zheng's eyes, the human city looked like the size of a peanut.

"Gejiang City?"

Lu Zheng muttered while controlling his Clone. If he remembered correctly, this city was Gejiang City, the human city closest to the Huangjiang Forbidden Zone.

And now, Gejiang City was emitting a thick stench of blood.

Lu Zheng immediately had a bad premonition. He controlled his Clone to slowly head towards Gejiang City. The closer he got to Gejiang City, the heavier Lu Zheng's heart became, his expression turning solemn.

Traces of battle appeared constantly; craters from artillery shells and missiles appeared, pitch black, and one could even smell the scent of gunpowder.

"A fierce battle took place here not long ago."

The massive snake head rose, staring fixedly at that human city. Lu Zheng no longer concealed his tracks and headed toward it rapidly.

The smell of blood became increasingly intense. One could even see many corpses of Evolved Beasts and human limbs; the earth seemed to be soaked in blood. But that was not the point; the point was that he was now very close to Gejiang City, yet Gejiang City still showed no signs of life.

"It can't be..."

Lu Zheng muttered, his heart ringing with alarm. When he reached a distance of less than a few hundred meters from Gejiang City, countless massive gaps appeared on the huge city walls.

It was as if they had been smashed open by some terrifying existence using brute force. Lu Zheng even saw quite a few mangled human corpses hanging on the dilapidated city walls.

As for why they were mangled, it was self-evident; the corpses were covered in bite marks.

Lu Zheng even saw one relatively intact corpse with its eyes wide open, the gaze revealing deep terror and unease. Even in death, it had not closed its eyes.

"Damn it!"

Lu Zheng roared in his heart, passing directly through the massive city and arriving inside Gejiang City. His massive body froze in place as he looked at the scene before him. His heart felt desolate.

Before his eyes lay ruins... It was like a scene after a nuclear explosion, devastated, with broken walls and debris everywhere, in a state of utter ruin. He couldn't even find a single intact building.

White bones lay silently on the ruins, and they were covered in tooth marks. The blood was so thick that it had not yet dried even now.

Corpses... still more corpses... human corpses...

Lu Zheng controlled his Clone to close its eyes. With just a single glance, he had seen many human corpses in every corner and on every street. They were exactly the same as those on the city walls. There wasn't even a single complete corpse.

Those eyes that had no time to close seemed to have seen the most terrifying moment of their lives, and dared not close. That intense hatred pierced deeply into Lu Zheng's heart.

"Evolved Beasts attacked the city."

"The city was breached... the people died..."

Lu Zheng muttered, his massive snake pupils filled with coldness and anger. Even with his eyes closed, the scene before him constantly assaulted his brain.

He had thought that the destruction of a city would not happen. With him around, everything could be solved. But he had thought of everything too simply, too perfectly, and had thought too highly of himself. He had assumed everything was under his control, but only after seeing this scene did he realize how weak he was in the face of this great era.
